With all due respect to the law, vocational tech, history, gym and science themes I considered, I'll go with the only "class" I aced, summer break, as my theme.

sn0mm1s's parents never paid for formals or proms when he was in high school - he had to pay with his own money. Back when CD players were expensive, he had to make a choice of whether to go the the formal or buy a portable CD player. sn0mm1s chose the CD player and also the recently released Violent Femmes album. I didn't need a date to the prom... but I did need a date to the formal that would be willing to pay for the both of us... didn't happen. Lyrics don't really match the situation, but I did choose American Music over going to the "prom".

I try not to dip into the Canadian shtick too often in these but for this draft it just seems to perfect in terms of putting together a nice theme that goes together well and should be a lot of new songs and bands to people here, I think. When Pitchfork reviewed the album this comes from "Kensington Heights", they said:

"Trans Canada" starts with a keyboard pulse that's half train whistle, half trance anthem but its insistent chug leads to a full-band climax and the record's heaviest moment.
