Do you mind sharing your A1C number?
Was 6.1. I find out tomorrow or Wednesday what it was (at my appointment).
Are things getting better for you Gastro-wise?

Is the intent of the pill to make you see and smell so much excrement that you lose all your appetite?
The luuuuve just oozes out of every line. There's an original version? Do I have to draft you in the covers folder?Mr R was amused, too. (He is a big BOC fan.)It's no "Don't Fear the Pooper", but I guess it will do.I'm on semaglutide the, wegovy version/does. Had some gi issues early on that included going way too often, then transitioned to not often enough. Over the counter stuff handled both issues for me. Hope you feel better, Rock.
This one always gets me when having those issues:
It burns burns burns
the ring of fire

Awesome! Have you played him the original version of Don’t Fear the Pooper? Slightly different theme.
Oh boy is there. It’s probably close to 20 years old. Unfortunately there is a Robin Quivers/Howard Stern line that really dates it, but otherwise, it’s one of my proudest accomplishments. By the way, I wrote the lyrics as a song for my wife.

Have you noticed a significant decrease in muscle mass? I listened to a podcast on this drug as I'm intrigued whether this is a drug I should look in to, and the suggestion that the drug significantly reduces muscle mass worries me.Hooo boy.
Just figured I'd update this since I can't find the "Fat to fit" thread. So we know I started out at about 231 pounds (jeans and sneakers on) before I went on the drug. In addition to crushing diarrhea and indigestion when I begin my weekly dose (it goes away in about a day or two), I've managed to drop almost exactly twenty-five pounds—I am down to about 206 (jeans and sneakers weight). I look good, clothes are looser, face is tauter, and I generally think that it's worth it. My real weight, in the morning with nothing on, is 203 pounds now.
My glucose meter says I'm doing well in that respect also, so I'll take it at its readings and assume that this has begun to really affect my life in very good ways rather than just suffering the indignity of the compromised GI tract.
So yeah, I'm a little over six feet tall and I'm rapidly approaching a sustainably healthy weight. On the other hand, I've really had to pay attention to the state of my toilet and the surrounding areas. (Yes, it's that explosive.) I hope to be able to continue the drug in the future.
So that's about that so far.
Oh-oh-oh-Ozempic.
Hooo boy.

Crap, I'm 5'10" and weigh 240 lbs. I have a bit of muscle mass, but...

Yeah, that's probably a weight that is a bit too heavy for your height. I know nothing of your build, though. I do know that it would probably be obese by BMI standards, which are still the benchmark for longevity and health effects.
I don't know what to tell you, bud. I'm no fitness buff nor workout warrior so there's no paragon of virtuousness thing going on here. I'm just taking the drug prescribed to me. This is what is happening.
Hey what you're describing about yourself is me to a "T" but for the Chips Ahoy (I prefer Oreos).Crap, I'm 5'10" and weigh 240 lbs. I have a bit of muscle mass, but...

Yeah, I have a fairly muscular build but I carry my body fat in my stomach. I get blood work done every year and all my levels are normal. My diet is probably only 65-70% on point, so if I tightened it up, I could shed the body fat but I like my Chips Ahoy cookies and iced tea too much.
Uh, yeah!Hooo boy.

If you eat less and don't alter your macros, and exercise the same way you'll lose muscle. Not sure how this is controversial or unexpected.Have you noticed a significant decrease in muscle mass? I listened to a podcast on this drug as I'm intrigued whether this is a drug I should look in to, and the suggestion that the drug significantly reduces muscle mass worries me.
I wasn't rocked up to begin with, so I haven't noticed. I have noticed my biceps are a little more slender and less pronounced, but I wasn't in great shape coming into the weight loss. In other words, I didn't have a whole ton of muscle tone. Well, some actually. I guess I just have noticed the weight loss more than anything. I'm also fifty on the nose, so I shouldn't be rocked to the sky, really. I should be more worried about flexibility and balance at this point, though that's sort of an unpopular opinion among men when they talk about these things.
Too long and nuanced of an answer. I'll just say no. I haven't noticed that much of a decrease in muscle mass.
That's a fairly common consequence of any diet where fat is eliminated almost entirely. Can't really pin it on the Ozempic. Hopefully people being prescribed this are receiving the same advice that, say bariatric surgery patients get. Prioritize protein. Make sure you have some source of fat, like flax seeds or something.Friend of my sister had to have emergency gall bladder surgery yesterday due to this. Guess she won't be suddenly posting pictures anymore.
FM 90.5?The name of my college radio show for a couple of semesters. As long as we are compiling a playlist for you @rockaction, and fully acknowledging that your situation isn't funny, I thought I might offer a link to my remix of Don't Fear the Pooper. Maybe it will put a smile on your face. The backstory is that a couple buddies of mine had a joint 50th b-day party in Puerto Vallarta a couple years ago. 7 couples took part and 12 of 14 people got Montezuma's Revenge. So the theme of the song is a bit different than the original version.

Rapid weight loss will invariably result in some muscle wasting, but you can probably keep it at bay with body weight exercises and adequate protein intake. And you're absolutely right that flexibility and balance are often neglected, sometimes in favor of exercise to “bulk up”.Have you noticed a significant decrease in muscle mass? My my boss and I jokingly referred to them as Metformin days!!! They are the worst. I get them 1-2 time a year.Even with Metformin, I’d find that I reached the point where I thought all side effects had stopped and then for some random day my body would be like “begone with this sorcery!”
Not just the GI stuff. I’ll have very infrequent random days where literally anything just tastes like a pile of rusty bolts in my mouth.
Yep -- The New York Times had an article saying this in August: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/28/business/denmark-ozempic-wegovy.htmlToday Explained podcast did an episode on the economics of it today.
The stats they quoted was insane, it's basically the chief export of denmark now.
