My God Ozempic (3 Viewers)

You‘ve been on it a while, haven’t you?

If so, did anything change (eg. dose) to account for what sounds like worsening AE?

The reason I ask is, the side effects tend to get better with time, and a lot of other stuff can cause GI distress.

People I know on it do much better taking half doses 2x a week vs 1x full dose weekly. Seen people just shred on this stuff.

The least we can do is build you an awesome playlist. I'll kick things off.

No, I didn't change, really. It seems to be that whenever I take a dose the next day is like that. Of course, it could also be the coffee and other meds I'm on.

That said, after I typed all this I took a dose of Pepto and a bit of gas medication and everything just stopped. I don't know whether it was the caffeine and amphetamine wearing off or what it was. But this is the second time it has happened on Ozempic to me. Just a day of rotgut and diarrhea.

That's about it.

On the plus side, I'm down over about thirteen pounds or so.

Yay!

I'll keep that in mind but I'd rather use the prescribed dose. That way I know what's going on and can relay that to the appropriate medical professional.

I mean the dose is weekly. It doesn't have to be all at once. It comes in like a pen like insulin right? You can get more of the pen needles.

Yeah, the needles are easy enough to come by. It does come in an insulin pen. I'm just saying that if the dose is for diabetes and is consumed by the body in a specific way, it's probably better not to jerry-rig the dose. A half dose every three and a half days is different than a full dose weekly because it's an extended release, right? That would seem to me to be an unwise usage.

I could be wrong. People modify their meds all the time. I'm just sticking with this one until they tell me to do differently.

Even with Metformin, I’d find that I reached the point where I thought all side effects had stopped and then for some random day my body would be like “begone with this sorcery!”

Not just the GI stuff. I’ll have very infrequent random days where literally anything just tastes like a pile of rusty bolts in my mouth.

That's awful. Is that the indigestion I've been getting these past four years? The one that makes you scared you've got esophageal cancer because it tastes like medicine coming back?

I truly don't know. My doctor (before I switched) actually came into the office and introduced himself to me and asked if we'd met before. It was not an encouraging sign, and was actually a sign of how little time he'd spent with me and the case I had. You can tell I wasn't getting the side effect run down from him.

I had no idea I was turning into Ray Kurzweil as I aged. I'm on so much medication, yet I look relatively healthy. You wouldn't guess it. I guess it's all the damn rotgut I drank for twenty years that sort of put me behind the eight ball. That or carrying too much on the old carriage.

You can't hide from the ultimate fate, I guess.

I just ordered a size 35 jean from Levi's, too. 501® originals, baby. I can't die today! I've got to wait until at least Sunday so I can wear them for a day.

No, not funny at all. I looked like the guy in the old Maxell commercials on the toilet last night, but it's not funny.

:grabs side of porcelain, hair flows back:

Not a lick.

:looks dazed and confused from explosions in the sky:

Not a whit.

I mean I'm not a doctor. If you are getting side effects just ask if the protocol above makes sense to your dr.

That is generally the best path. But if your current regimen becomes untenable, contact your doctor.

Thanks, Pip. I'm absolutely fine today. It's strange. It just went away in like an hour. But the previous twelve were brutal.

Yeah, thanks, culdeus. I was going to do just that.

Never used Ozempic, but I am on Metformin and Mounjaro. It can be a rollercoaster ride at times, for sure.

Mounjaro is more or less the same drug class as Ozempic (GLP-1 receptor agonists; Mounjaro also works on GIP), so I would think the side effects would be similar.

Huh... I'm just the opposite. Only on one medication (low dose lisinopril for BP), but I look like :poop:

As long as we are compiling a playlist for you @rockaction, and fully acknowledging that your situation isn't funny, I thought I might offer a link to my remix of Don't Fear the Pooper. Maybe it will put a smile on your face. The backstory is that a couple buddies of mine had a joint 50th b-day party in Puerto Vallarta a couple years ago. 7 couples took part and 12 of 14 people got Montezuma's Revenge. So the theme of the song is a bit different than the original version. :poop:

The name of my college radio show for a couple of semesters.

Ween has a song called Poopship Destroyer, but I would not subject any playlist to that (the studio version is silly and live versions are basically 20 minutes of noise).

Oh my. Oh my my my. Shared bathrooms, too? That sounds like a disaster. That song makes my stomach touch and go right now.

But you stayed with the cowbell in the background. :lmao:

And the breakdown . . .

:lmao:

Like ChiefD and I were saying. Not funny at all.

Now my bowels have been totally commandeered . . .

I think the worst part of the Ozempic attacks were the medicine belches. I didn't exactly know where they were coming from or why they were coming from there, but it didn't taste good. At all.

Anyway, I'm getting gross here.

Be careful 'fore you take these drugs, mmmkay?

OK then.

Studio version:

Live version from Paintin' the Town Brown:

Disc 2 of Paintin' the Town Brown is one of the most subversive things ever issued on a major label. It consists of:

The above version of Poopship Destroyer, which is basically 26 minutes of noise.
A 30-minute song with lots of solos and some questionable ethnic stereotypes in the vocals.
A shambling ditty about getting high.

I don't think I've ever told you I owned a Ween album that went largely unplayed. I think it was when I was in boarding school and freshman year of college. GodWeenSatan (I think—I remember the cover) was one of them. I think I heard "Push Th' Little Daisies" and bought the earlier tape. I think I did own Pure Guava, too. It's all a haze. I was so young and had so many cassettes back then.

I never understood it back then and never re-visited, really.

See if you can get a last minute colonoscopy

I don't know about the last-minute thing (is this a reference?), but I turned fifty last August so I'm due, actually. Endoscopy (which I'm supposed to get every five years because I have GERD) and a colonoscopy are on the to-do menu. Thanks for the reminder.

Just meant while you are cleaned out - the worst part of the colonoscopy is the cleanse and since you are already doing it (apparently) you could avoid it.

And it was a dumb joke.

The first three Ween studio albums are basically unlistenable. GodWeenSatan, the first one, is actually the most listenable of the three. Pure Guava, the third, has some particularly unlistenable songs on it despite the inclusion of Push Th' Little Daisies, their first song to get widespread exposure. However, the "bones" of many of these songs are quite good, and they are excellent when performed live. Ween didn't try to make a studio record that was even remotely accessible until their fourth, Chocolate and Cheese.

Ween's main appeal for me is as a live band -- they are IMO one of the best road acts from 1997 (when their current live lineup was solidified) onward. I like how their studio records from Chocolate and Cheese onward defy convention in their genre-hopping and lyrics (they write about everything EXCEPT love and politics), but live Ween is far better than studio Ween IMO.

Naw. Nothing dumb about it. I actually thought I might run clear last night and thought of running clear from the last colonoscopy I had. Never did last night, but it was a possibility.
