Netflix Original: Stranger Things (2 Viewers)

No one in 1984 called Kentucky Fried Chicken "KFC".  Maybe "The Colonel", but not KFC
it was always KFC to me - was born in 80
Well, you were some kind of prophet because KFC didn't even call themselves KFC.

In March 1991 the KFC name was officially adopted, although the chain was already widely known by that initialism.[88] The change was advised by the Schechter Group brand consultancy agency.[89] Research demonstrated that 80 percent of customers already associated the "KFC" initials with Kentucky Fried Chicken.[89] A spokesman for the chain said that it represented its diversified menu, which was moving away from solely fried products.[90] Kyle Craig, president of KFC US, admitted the change was an attempt to distance the chain from the unhealthy connotations of "fried".

Really enjoyed both seasons although Max's brother seemed way over the top.
I do agree with this but with Steve becoming a good guy the writers wanted another human antagonist.  It may have just been the actor they chose also.  He played it a little too extreme.  Some subtlety would have made that character much more palatable.

I did love the scene with him and Mike's mom, though.  Thought she was pretty hot in season 1 already and that tub/MILF scene just brought it to the forefront.

She was also one of Don Draper's ladies.

   we did - well before 1984.  Did you ever stop to wonder how/why they came up with the "KFC" moniker?  It was not some "new" marketing scheme...

(If I am being honest, I don't think I realized they actually changed the official name to KFC - so it was a pretty seamless transition...)

Well, I guess that's settled then.

The really know how to end each episode in order to make you keep wanting more. I'm not a binge watcher, but it's easy to see why some are.

I got a real "Aliens" vibe when they saw all the demi-dogs coming out of the hole. Kind of reminiscent of the scene in Aliens when they look up into the drop ceiling and see all the Aliens coming towards them. Then I realized that Paul Reiser (the government doctor) was in Aliens, and Winona Ryder was in Alien Resurrection. Aliens didn't actually come out until 1986.
Was a nice homage. Honestly thought Reiser's scientist character was going to be a bad guy because of how much of a slimeball he was in Aliens, but he was pretty standup. Particularly in the lead up to the scene you reference when they were trying to come up with a way to save Mike.

I thought the scene with Max's brother and Mike's mom was pretty stupid.  About as out of place as episode 7.

back in the day we used to say easy sleezy but that was about this guy frank who sold car parts that were so hot there was normally still an apb out for the ride they came off we never bought anything from ole franko but it was fun sayin easy sleezy take that to the bank bromigos

...the writing for the kids was horrible for the most part.  I'd guess that 75% of the time when two or more of the kids were in a scene together they were arguing or yelling at each other.  Go back and watch if you don't believe me.  Doesn't matter if they're playing D&D or talking about what's happening or making a plan.

"This is crazy!"

"You saw what happened!"

"No way!"

"We need to do this!"

"blah blah blah!"

"Stop it!"

"[insert some goofy D&D, LOTR, or Star Wars drop]

"We can't do this!"

Over and over and over

Yeah, I liked this scene too. It did remind me of some 80's movie with the hot mom and the high school boy knocking on the door although I can't think of one at the moment.

Dustin saying "over-priced piece of ####" was glorious.  We all said some version of that playing that game back in the day.

Also, he was basically at the end of the game during that scene, no?  I never made it close to that far.

listen i will admit that it seemed a little rip offy when they were down in that hole and mike picked up some coins and said this is my dream and its all over the minute we ride up in troys bucket and the one dude turned in to sloth from goonies and they actually called him sloth for the like the next three minutes of the show and that at the end they kept calling eleven one eyed willie that is the sort of stuff that an editor gets paid to catch bromigos and it was toeing copyright infrongment something fierce take that to the bank brochachos

I watched a 'walk-through' of the game from beginning to end on youtube and I didn't get as far into the game as I thought I did.

I'm not sure, but I think right around that time home video games were getting popular.  FU Dragons Lair!

Hot.  Got a Shannon Whirry vibe about her

Well done seasons that sets the stage for wherever they're taking the show.

The Eleven episode seemed like another "stage setter" with that being some sort of origin story for a future villain/adversary to her.

Where they show could get tired really quick is if every season they save the day just in the nick of time. It'll be interesting to see the ramifications of the letters exposing the lab ( I for one, thought the Conspiracy Theorist dude was actually a Russian and the last scene in S2 would have been some lab in Moscow breaking thru to the Upside Down).......but they're going to need to up the ante going forward.

At EP 5.  Please tell me that every character under the age of 15 dies some horrible death.
Hang in there.  Ep. 7 has  a huge reveal.  Don Draper shows up in a time-traveling DeLorean with the soundtrack from "Up The Creek" blasting at a billion decibels.   Reveal?  DeLorean's trunk is full of chicken fingers.

The episode about Eleven finding her "sister" was about as bad as "The Fly" episode of breaking bad..

So, I get the comparison between shows.

Honestly, a watchable show... But far from memorable.

Also, wtf was the point of Max's brother?

Man deserved a much bigger role. And to be relevent. He was awesome

Solid fun season... some annoying spots. Good fun popcorn TV. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to season 3, but it's not worthy of being called "great TV" or anything.

Last year it was nominated for best drama Emmy and was the odds on favorite to win. I think it even got up to -200 before losing.

I was shocked and don't see it as that kind of a show, but clearly people do.

I really want that fat kid with the curly hair to at least take a shovel to the face
"Last year we experienced some absolutely insane paranormal phenomena.  One of my best friends ended up in some sort of parallel universe.  There was also chick with telekinesis and a burr haircut.  And there was this crazy-### monster that tried to kill everybody.

But when I found some slimy looking creature that nobody has ever seen before I'm decided to keep it as a pet and take it to school.  I mean it's probably harmless, right?"

Dip-####.

it would be cool if they built a spaceship next year out of an old tilt a wirl take that to the bank brochachos
