Netflix Original: Stranger Things (1 Viewer)

I don't know if it's because I feel deathly ill, or if it's the 80s vibe taking me back to my childhood, but I got like, REALLY emotional watching this yesterday.  It's really not something that's too uncommon for me when stuff deals with the pain and suffering of children, but I think the illness and how much I like the characters kicked it up a few notches.
   I thought maybe it was because I was so tired, but it got dusty in the room a few times on me last night.

Yea, it was a little Saharan dust stormy at my place too.

The part where he tried to stand up to the shadow monster thing and it turned into a tornado and did it's thing was particularly bad for some reason.

Rudy is lucky he figured out the map thing to make up for it.

Tears?  Do you also love the theater and worship Judy Garland?

Hated episode 7, loved the rest. That episode didn’t ruin the season and I get it’s purpose, but it got away from everything about the show I enjoy.

Season 2 MARC rating: A

I watched the first 10 minutes of S2E1 and then turned it off.

1980s arcade games where you can input more than 3 letters for your high score?  GTFO.
Silly when all you needed there was MAX anyway. Also there should have been like 4 ### names there (FBG will likely filter that  ).

Anyway, I still really like this show. Looking forward to future seasons.

For people who don't know Finn Wolfhard (Mike) has starred in two videos for Canadian pop-punk band PUP (who are ####### amazing).

Guilt Trip

Sleep in the Heat

OK gave it another shot.

Oingo Boingo "Just another day" was released in 1985 almost a full year after the arcade scene. Yeah, it's part of the soundtrack and not supposed to be in the actual scene but still.

I didn't hate it, but thought it would have been better to spread it across several regular episodes.

I thought episode 7 was fine.  Kind of a coming of age joint for our heroine.  I do agree though that spread out through several episodes and it would have been more powerful.

And man those arcade scenes and soundtrack really take me back.

Love this show. The 80’s vibe is my wheelhouse, grew up in that same period and they try real hard to make it authentic. Thought the season was really good. Any show that makes me want to watch 3,4,5 episodes at once gets an A rating from me. Finished it up last night, hate that I gotta wait for another year now  :(

As far as episode 7 goes, get rid of that motley crew (ha!), focus solely on Yoda and Luk... 8 and 11, and splice 10 minutes of them throughout the final few episodes and it’s a winner.

We basically only needed the moving of the truck and the mercy, then dump the rest. There’s no way to leave Hawkins for an hour and not lose momentum.

008 Just has a future role in upcoming seasons is why they took the time.  I'm surprised she didn't show in the final episode, actually.

I'd like to know what happened to the other ones (001 through 007, 009, 010, etc.). Was 011 definitely the last one?

gdit tanner your run of nitpicking made me laugh you stink take that to the well played bank bromigo

There's been a huge negative backlash on the internet oabout episode 7.  People in general hated it.  If the producers were thinking of focusing on the 000-010's in season 3, they may be re-thinking that.

Yeah I heard an interview on local a.m. Radio with some entertainment writer who saw S2 before it dropped. She was limited with what she could talk about but I remember her saying the season was great but one episode was jarring and didn't seem to fit the "style" of the show.

I semi agree but don't think it was a big deal, the season was fantastic. My wife loves this show which I find kind of funny, she's typically solely into dramas/rom coms, though she likes Marvel movies too.

I think it would be a bigger deal if episodes were released weekly. As it is, if you absolutely hate that episode, well just watch the next one...

And I'm not even close to being finished.
you should watch it and enjoy it and listen to all the little whos down in whooville and your heart will grow three sizes which is actually the plot of episode 9 which they totally ripped off take that to the bank bromigo

Was "Easy Peasy" even a saying in the 80's?  I'm asking for Tanner.

If Will were based on a real person from the childhood of one of the writers, I can't decide if it would be someone the writer liked or someone they really hated.  I mean, the things they put that kid through over two seasons...

Bob deserved to die. I know he's fat and was winded, but why stop after closing the doors? Keep moving. Also, why did the monsters eat him when it seems they mostly just killed all the others?

Why did the mom turn up the heaters? Those should have been on full blast already. No way the government shuts down the facility even with the controversy and scandal.

Finished over the weekend, episodes 6 & 8 are the best IMO, great pacing and tension in those. Episode 7 is kind of out of left field and seemed mainly just a setup for the mechanism to resolve the season. Which speaking of, liked the last episode (9) a lot as well even if things were tied up a little too neatly. It's almost as if they were possibly thinking there wouldn't be another season although the creators have said they want to do 4 seasons total. I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10.

Only complaints would be I found the sister and will's older brother's plotline pretty boring and didn't contribute much to the overall story, especially compared to the role they played in the 1st season. Same with Mad Max's older brother who seemed extraneous to everything. They also expanded the big haired boyfriend's role a lot which I think was a plus (especially when they paired him with Dustin), I found him to be one of my favorite characters this season.

I pretty much agree with everything in this post.

My wife and I both found season 2 kind of meh.  Obviously, Episode 7 was horrible, but otherwise, I didn't have any real big complaints.  The performances were good enough.  I guess I just found that I wasn't really interested in what was going on in the upside down this season.  I think a true anthology show with something else going on would have been more interesting.

I know this show is good because while watching it I said out loud "I hope that Steve Harrington finds a nice girl someday"

I got a real "Aliens" vibe when they saw all the demi-dogs coming out of the hole. Kind of reminiscent of the scene in Aliens when they look up into the drop ceiling and see all the Aliens coming towards them. Then I realized that Paul Reiser (the government doctor) was in Aliens, and Winona Ryder was in Alien Resurrection. Aliens didn't actually come out until 1986.

Thanks for the info.  Never heard it ever in the 80s in America.

What about "KFC", pretty sure no one ever called it that until the mid 90s.
From wiki : In 1991, the KFC name was officially adopted, although it was already widely known by that initialism
