Too bad--Chargers have been a likable team, just stuck with the curse of Marty.
And woohoo, we are now cursed with another week of the most boring team in football.

This is karma.....denver beats indy tomorrow setting up a Jets NE matchup next week.
WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then Denver beats Pittsburgh and the Jets host the AFC title game after beating NE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's hear it for irrational exuberence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!      Eric Barton is a big piece of crap, but I do love my Jets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow.This was the only game in the entire playoff schedule and potential matchups past round 1 that I was "sure" of. The Jets had no chance.Just wow. Congrats to the Jets. I still can't believe I saw Pennington throw a deep ball. I had to check outside to make sure no pigs were flying over my house.

While I'm still literally sickened, Pennington did exactly what I feared he would do and looked good all night. Unfortunately, the reports of his sore arm were greatly exaggerated...Did anyone else think that Jordan looked incredible tonight? I thought going into tonight that Jordan was the type of RB the Chargers would have trouble with and they did. The guy is going to do well if he goes to a team with solid line.

I bet the JETS on faith tonight as I thought that Herm would have the boys keep the game close.Ever since instant replay (which I hate) I have disciplined myself to never go wild immediately when a play occurs b/c it could be overturned. I didn't follow that creed tonight and on 3 seperate occassions went absolutely wild in celebrating a JET playoff road win. #1 4th and goal and Brees throws a floater incomplete into the end zone.#2 Brien nails a 28-yarder in OT #3 Following Marty's BS time out, Brien again kicks a game winning FG. (by the way they need to change the rule that allows a coach to call a timeout for the defense when the team is just about to snap the ball). The JETS will give NE a better game than SD would have given PITT.JETS

Still a very nice season for the bolts, the are young, have alot of choices ahead and hopefully this wasn't a fluke and they can contend again next year.

As much as I like certain players on SD, and was kinda rootin' for them and their Cinderella season to continue, I had picked the Jets to win. Just something about it made me think the Chargers would lose, despite being at home and having some momentum. Guess I was right (for once), though I very nearly was wrong (durn Kaeding).Ahh well.. Kudos to the Chargers for a great season. Time for the Jets to get demolished in the 2nd round...

this team did win 10 games in the toughest division in the toughest conference in the league, right?you new yorkers are a weird ####ing breed.

I would try to come back with some assemblance of a witty comeback, but it's late, I'm tired, and while I'm upset that the Jets screwed me, I met Don Mattingly today so all in all, good day.

Fine by me. I'm a Giants fan. I have to be happy with watching the 1st round of the draft next year..... oh wait a minute! :hot:

Nice game by the Jets, they deserved to win it. I for one didn't think they had a shot. :bag: I should've remembered who was coaching the Bolts. :X If Kaeding wins the game, is Barton allowed on the flight home?

Sorry pal, there is a big difference between a week 2 matchup and a playoff game in San Diego.
pffffffffftttttttThis lame drum keeps getting beaten, but the tune is getting old. While I agree that the Chargers will probably win (I am picking them in a close one), and that articles like the one you linked to are stupid drivel, let's not talk Charger smack until one of two things happens.A) They win ANY game in the playoffs (how long has that been?)B) They beat the Jets once this yearSo far, it's Jets 1, Chargers 0. Give up the "Well it ain't week 2 anymore" crap. I think we all understand that they are playing better.
Correction.Jets 2, Chargers 0

Jets will be exposed. SD will win easily.
Wrong.Well, at least you are consistent. Wasn't it supposed to be Chargers by 20+?:blowhard:
I had been wondering this for a while. How in the world did people honestly think this game would be a blow out? I thought the Jets would lose a very close game, but these teams matched up way too well for this game to have gotten out of hand.

Because some people belive that if they spew their personal brand of drivel long enough, others may eventually accept said drivel as fact.BTW, will this game count as "playing a real team", or is it now time to backpedal and say that the Chargers were pretenders all along? It's just about time for damage control, methinks.

No we played a real team tonight, just got lucky that Kaeding missed the field goal. Then again, we didn't even belong in the playoffs to begin with. :D

I'm inebriated. With that said, DAMMIT!!!!!!!Chargers?!?!?!?! You stoopids!Oh well, we had two decent games tonight. God luck Jets

GB not having sharp objects in the room when watching Eric Barton.I'm more relieved than anything right now, but this win justifies the entire season. No need to be upset if they lose in Pittsburgh or New England next week. Great way to rebound from a tough 6-10 campaign.Odds that the wuss plays next weekend?

I can't see him playing unless his knee feels 110%. He already missed one playoff game, so we know where his priorities are at in terms of team/playoffs vs. payday.

who's wuss.

WHY did SD call the timeout there??? HORRIBLE clock management. If they score, they leave more time for the Jets.
Pass interence or roughing penalty that makes it 1st and goal on the one.

who (which Jets coach) was Herm YELLING at on the sideline? They had to restrain him.
Did we ever find out why Herm and the RBs coach were at each other's throats? That RB coach was borderline insubordinate if you ask me....I wonder if it had to do with PT for CuMar....

A great catch.Santana showed up.After the fantasy season.

I know it didn't end up mattering, but why did the Jets kneel down the kickoff if they were planning on taking a knee?? They could have at least tried to return the thing. It didn't really matter if they got tackled on the 10 if they weren't going to call a play

Funny, I asked the same question to my friends in the 4th quarter last night, and we all agreed. I think Abraham plays. If he is cleared medically but he chooses not to play again, potential suitor teams are going to really see that Abraham is not a team player. I'm sure that these teams are going to want to know exactly the extent of Abraham's injury, and whether he honestly could have played or not, before they shell out the big bucks. Also, the next game is going to be a bigger chance for Abraham to make a statement than at any other point in his career. If he goes into FA with a huge game against either NE or PIT under his belt, that will do alot for his value.

Huge JETS Fan. Great Game. I was very down on them after the Rams loss but they showed up last night and proved they can beat a good team and they are legit. Big time. Props to Herm and Penny. But at the end of the day, the defense won it. Again.

These are definitly not your father's JETS.Those would have:a) Never made it to the playoffs as Buffalo would have won.b) Gotten blown out in the 1st quarter leaving extended garbage time for the rest of the game.c) Commited boneheaded plays (ala Robertson and Barton) and lost a hearbreaker.Your choice.

And if there was a fumble during the return would it have mattered? If you're not going to take a chance with your offense, it would be silly to take a chance on special teams.

The one article I read didn't really say what it was about, just that it's all peace and love again. Fox Sports article
SAN DIEGO (AP) - Jets coach Herman Edwards got into a shouting match with running backs coach Bishop Harris during the third quarter of their 20-17 overtime victory over San Diego on Saturday night. The two nearly came to blows during a series toward the end of the third quarter. Though Edwards declined to specify why they were arguing, at the time of the fight LaMont Jordan was carrying the ball instead of NFL rushing champion Curtis Martin.Fullback Jerald Sowell had to restrain the two coaches. After walking away, Harris said something else and Edwards turned back toward his assistant."That's family emotions coming out in a playoff game, and that's good," Edwards said. "He's a heck of a football coach, that was an incident, it's over with, and we're fine."Offensive coordinator Paul Hackett said the Jets had 12-15 new plays in featuring Martin and Jordan in at the same time, though it was unclear whether that had anything to do with the argument. During the series, Jordan subbed in for Martin after Martin had two big back-to-back plays, a 10-yard run and 23-yard catch. The Jets ended up settling for a 42-yard field goal from Doug Brien to go up 17-7. Harris was unavailable for comment.

It's always all peace and love after a victory. Herm did a nice job downplaying the argument with cliches in the postgame onfield interview. He claimed it to be "family frustrations boiling over" or something to that effect.

Jets: 394 yards, 20 points = 19.70 yards per point.Chargers: 408 yards, 17 points = 24 yards per point.

Just wanted to throw a hearty congratulations to Chase and the other Jets fans for the road win, not an insignificant triumph all things considered.I know he just won NFL Coach of the Year, and I know he abandoned Marty Ball for most of the season, but darned if Martyball (3 runs for -1 yard right up the gut) didn't come back to haunt him yet again. 5-12 in the playoffs over a 20 year HC career :X

I'm not too sure Martyball was abandoned this season J. I think that might have been a very popular theory that doesn't hold up under scrutiny.More rushes than passes this year:Pittsburgh: +260Atlanta: +129Jets: +89San Diego: +76New England: +39Philadelphia: -131 (fourth worst in the league)San Diego also ranked fourth in run/pass ratio, at 54%.
