NFL Teams "Assistant Head Coach" (1 Viewer)

When teams hire 'Assistant Head Coaches' they normally do so on top of being a coordinator or position coach. What do they do, if anything? Is it just an added title to try to grab high talent? Does it have substance or is it a resume filler?

sometimes it's LB coach/assistant head coach because the NFL rules state something like that you have to give a guy a promotion if you're going to steal him away from another team.

More often than not it's a work around that seems annoying. BP once made passing game and running game coordinator instead of just O coordinator.
