I dontOkie State ended up being a great game. The late game on ESPN was good too. There's a zillion more games, obviously there will be more close games, blowouts, boring games, good finishes, etc. Seems like a silly point.
Also you get the Pac 12 network but not the SEC network? Aren't you in the Carolinas? Pretty sure that isn't possible.
Give bama one of the better career backups and I'd rather watch them play an NFL team then their games this yearWatching a blowout from your College team is better too since you get a chance to see your future...in the NFL you get to watch career backups show why they are who they are.
Add in all the self-picked non-conference games that end up with the Sisters of the Poor getting handed a check to show up at Big Boy U and get blown away by 40 or 50 points.I think you forgot the very best part of all, the final four teams being chosen by selection committee. It's pretty much the only sport I can think of where the 5th best team has no chance to win a title. Outside of boxing, and we all know how above board that sport is.
Until AT LEAST 8 teams(there's really no reason it can't be 16) have a chance to win at the end the entire college football season is one part exhibition season and two parts selection committee circle jerk at the "unhappy" ending. "Gee, do you remember back in 2019 when the selection committee decided we got to play for the national championship. That was the best selection committee decision in YEARS! That selection committee decision still gives me goose bumps when I think about it!"
The NFL may have it's problems, but on it's worst day it still isn't as broken as college football.
We're just breaking out campers out.Sabertooth said:I didn't watch a single game yesterday. I planned on watching Detroit and Minnesota but decided to winterize my camper.
Why?I haven't watched a single game in a number of years. I watch them all online for free
When the sound came over the speakers for "go chargers" it was drowned out by the fans screaming go eagles.Heard it was like 100% eagles fans at the chargers game today. Love it.
I'm confused by the question? Why do i watch them online for free? Because it's easy? I am in a 10 person pro pool with the same guys for almost 30 years now. Not a single one of them has a cable subscription. They all watch onlineWhy?
What's even more impressive is he gets the Pac 12 network on Rabbit EarsOkie State ended up being a great game. The late game on ESPN was good too. There's a zillion more games, obviously there will be more close games, blowouts, boring games, good finishes, etc. Seems like a silly point.

Wasn't cherry picking. Just scanned the top 25 for active games and lsu game must have ended. My rabbity ears don't get the secn or the high school thriller on the south side of town
Imagine what raiders chargers is going to look like...When the sound came over the speakers for "go chargers" it was drowned out by the fans screaming go eagles.
When the eagles got the first down to seal the game, the place cheered like crazy. I felt bad for San Diego players.
When sd had a good play, the place was silent.... Lmao
Yeah, I agree that if you don't have cable or a streaming service you are going to be pretty limited in terms of your options and on a lot of Saturdays you will be stuck with crappy games.I dont
yes
im just a cord cutter who had crap games on when I turned on the tube so I googled the active top 25 games that were on at the time since I had been previously told if I had more channels I'd have better games.
For the most part 90% of the top 25 games have been crap this year
It was pretty bad last year when Chargers were still in SD...Imagine what raiders chargers is going to look like...
The owners are the people who decide and vote on teams moving and expansion sites. The commiss has almost zero power in those cases. He just brings candidates.I'm not a Goodell hater but 2 teams in LA is going to have to go down as 1 of the worst moves by any commish in any sport
Ah I see.The owners are the people who decide and vote on teams moving and expansion sites. The commiss has almost zero power in those cases. He just brings candidates.
no, the owners of SL and SD made those decisions and then presented the perspective moves to the other owners and were then voted on by all the owners together. He had nothing to do with either SD or SL moving. Whether he agreed with it 100% or hated the moves made no difference since he does not have a vote on these issues.Ah I see.
Did he bring 2 candidates that planned to take teams to LA?
Ah. I take it back then.no, the owners of SL and SD made those decisions and then presented the perspective moves to the other owners and were then voted on by all the owners together. He had nothing to do with either SD or SL moving. Whether he agreed with it 100% or hated the moves made no difference since he does not have a vote on these issues.
The commish is more involved in expansion candidates (which neither LA team were, they were both moves).
It is pretty scary all around. I am sure there are plenty of nervous folks. The new stadium will draw them in for the first season or two, but long term really does seem up in the air. The stadium being delayed though does not help the situation.Hopefully I'm wrong on the LA thing but this just seems like a doomed failure
no no no, hopefully you are 100% rightAh. I take it back then.

I have a hard time believing this went through without Goodell's support.no, the owners of SL and SD made those decisions and then presented the perspective moves to the other owners and were then voted on by all the owners together. yea it's so great. How long until the Chargers move? Can they leave now? Carson Wentz was quieting down the visiting Eagle fans this weekend in a half full soccer stadium.
I am sure he was consulted and likely involved in what ever politics there are between the owners but in the end he works for the owners.I have a hard time believing this went through without Goodell's support.
Winning will help. And they are off to a good start where that is concerned. And I begrudgingly type that as a St. Louisan who is pissed that Kroenke and the NFL took football out of St. Louis. It is pretty scary all around. I am sure there are plenty of nervous folks. You don't think cities see what is going on and realize this anyways? I see it going the way of the Olympics. Cities used to sell their souls to get them. Now you almost have to beg them to do so. The world figured out that it is a sunk cost and a money loser. Same will happen here IF the team fails financially.GroveDiesel said:No way Spanos and/or the NFL admits that they were wrong on this anytime soon. They have way too much invested in this. If they leave early, that does two things:
1) It gives current NFL cities leverage by revealing that the grass isn't always greener and that moving isn't a definite + move.
2) It would make perspective NFL cities less likely to hand out huge amounts of money to NFL teams to relocate if they think they may just get left behind in a couple of years
Used to go to STL for a game now and then. Always had a great time partying around the city.Winning will help. And they are off to a good start where that is concerned. And I begrudgingly type that as a St. Louisan who is pissed that Kroenke and the NFL took football out of St. Louis.
The irony of course is that LA was just awarded the 2028 summer olympics. But i think your point is valid, that more cities are realizing this though. You don't think cities see what is going on and realize this anyways? I see it going the way of the Olympics. I bet they won't be able to fill their PSL allotment. They are looking to get 500 MILLION in PSL.It is pretty scary all around. I am sure there are plenty of nervous folks. St. Louis is a great town. Lots of stuff to do on the cheap. Great for families. Within driving distance of a ton of states, particularly states that have no baseball so we get a boatload of tourists in the summer from Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas, etc, who come to catch the Cardinals that they hear on KMOX in the evenings. We supported a miserable football team for a couple decades. We didn't deserve the lies they told.Johnnymac said:Used to go to STL for a game now and then. I think many if you are missing the big picture. I bet the The chargers are worth 25-35% more post move just because of the market. It will take time to build a fan base but the majority of the value is in the tv contract, the new stadium that is being built, etc. stadium revenue is nice but is is a small portion of the overall picture.dschuler said:How long until the Chargers move? There you go, disrupting the narrative...I thought I read/heard that viewership is down among all 4 major sports.
The Chargers won't own the new stadium. So the only value it has to them is if people show up and spend money. Should be.Should be a good game tonight...Tampa/New England.

The Lakers don't own their own stadium either. They seem to do fine regardless of the attendance. There is a huge difference in what a large market team is worth vs a small market. Heck, the lowly clippers sold for 2.0Bn, the Clippers. Believe me the charges and the Rams are much more valuable in LA than their respective markets. The Chargers won't own the new stadium. I think you're significantly overestimating the value of just being in LA. It is a huge potential market, but if people don't care, their value will absolutely fall.
NBA teams have local TV revenue, while the NFL TV contract is distributed among all teams. The Clippers were top ten in NBA attendance last year, outdrawing the Lakers (although the Clippers average seat price is lower than their neighbors). The Lakers don't own their own stadium either. More valuable to the owners but worse for the league as every week they show the empty houses they play in after lying through their teeth to get there (Rams moreso than the Chargers). The last thing the league wants right now is people pointing and laughing...The Lakers don't own their own stadium either. They seem to do fine regardless of the attendance. Did you seriously just compare one of the most storied and successful franchise in sports that has been in LA for almost 60 years to a mediocre team with zero championships that has been in LA for a hot minute? The Lakers don't own their own stadium either.
