All anyone needs to know.but it seems harder to duplicate than NY pizza.

What are you talking about? Chicago is ten times more corrupt than any other city in America and has been for decades.I think Chicagoans are on the hunt to find something in which they are superior now that they no longer have the tallest building.
It's not like going to China to find a wife. There's no 'hunt' needed to find the superior pizza.I think Chicagoans are on the hunt to find something in which they are superior now that they no longer have the tallest building.
I've never eaten pizza with a fork and I've had thousands of slices of pizza. If you have to eat it with a fork, it's not pizza.
I think it's because Chicagoans insist on calling their thing "pizza."I like both but they are so different I don't know why people obsess about comparing them.
True, at that point it becomes a mutant form of lasagna. If you have to eat it with a fork, it's not pizza.
flat bread sandwichIf you have to fold your slice in half, it's a sandwich.
If there isn't one in Chicago I don't know why you think there might be one in California. Is there any good Chicago style pizza in California?
I went to this place in Santa Clara that supposedly specialized in it (Paxti's) and it was a horrible knockoff. The crust was unacceptable.
How do you eat it? With your hands? <derisive snort>If you have to eat it with a fork, it's not pizza.
Aaron, you are a glutton for punishment, or maybe by this point it's shtick. If you have to fold your slice in half, it's a sandwich.
Zachary's. Original location in Oakland, now also in Berkeley, Pleasant Hill, and San Ramon. I've only been to the one in Oakland. It's pretty good.Is there any good Chicago style pizza in California?

Had Little Star last time I was in SF. It was pretty decent.Zachary's. Original location in Oakland, now also in Berkeley, Pleasant Hill, and San Ramon. I've only been to the one in Oakland. It's pretty good.Is there any good Chicago style pizza in California?

You should probably go watch the Jon Stewart clip that led to the thread bump.It seems to me that the New Yorkers are the ones really pushing the "Our pizza is the best" thing and not the other way around.
Yeah, also good. Zach's notches it for me, but it's close.Had Little Star last time I was in SF. It was pretty decent.Zachary's. That would make change his mind how?You should probably go watch the Jon Stewart clip that led to the thread bump.It seems to me that the New Yorkers are the ones really pushing the "Our pizza is the best" thing and not the other way around.
New Yorkers, pushy? Crazy talk.It seems to me that the New Yorkers are the ones really pushing the "Our pizza is the best" thing and not the other way around.
Because Stewart is responding to a weird local Chicago news item on the taller buildings where they get all defensive and talk about how their food/pizza is still betterThat would make change his mind how?You should probably go watch the Jon Stewart clip that led to the thread bump.It seems to me that the New Yorkers are the ones really pushing the "Our pizza is the best" thing and not the other way around.
Is that guy posting in this thread?Because Stewart is responding to a weird local Chicago news item on the taller buildings where they get all defensive and talk about how their food/pizza is still betterThat would make change his mind how?You should probably go watch the Jon Stewart clip that led to the thread bump.It seems to me that the New Yorkers are the ones really pushing the "Our pizza is the best" thing and not the other way around.![]()
Lester Holt on the Today Show (shot in NY) saying Chicago pizza is "quite good"? Yeah, that's not helping your case.Because Stewart is responding to a weird local Chicago news item on the taller buildings where they get all defensive and talk about how their food/pizza is still betterThat would make change his mind how?You should probably go watch the Jon Stewart clip that led to the thread bump.It seems to me that the New Yorkers are the ones really pushing the "Our pizza is the best" thing and not the other way around.![]()
No, the presumably local NBC footage that precedes it where they comfort Chicagoans by saying they still have better food and whatnot with a shot of a deep dish pizza.Lester Holt on the Today Show (shot in NY) saying Chicago pizza is "quite good"? This can't be real. Where are the knives and forks?
Did Stewart fold his slice in half at the end of his clip?If you have to fold your slice in half, it's a sandwich.
lol @ the dog video at the endThis can't be real. Where are the knives and forks?
fixed.Bread, cheese, and sauce = great
Morecornbread, more cheese, and more sauce = repulsive
I will admit there are few things as bad as NY "style" pizza. A NY pie or a slice is awesome, NY style usually means enhanced white bread, catsup and grated fake matzah-rella.Holding up a flimsy slice of NY-style pizza: "we had someone fax this to us in NY".![]()
This.I like both but they are so different I don't know why people obsess about comparing them.
Seriously why does anyone care? They're both delicious.
yes he did. That's how the freaks in NY eat it.Did Stewart fold his slice in half at the end of his clip?If you have to fold your slice in half, it's a sandwich.
Piece is awesome.This.I like both but they are so different I don't know why people obsess about comparing them.

I live in chicago and only eat the Deep Dish two or three times per year and usually they are company-related lunches. Any time I order delivery or go out, it's Piece pizza or any place that has thin crust.
This is me too. Piece is awesome.This.I like both but they are so different I don't know why people obsess about comparing them.

Meh, and New Yorkers insist on caring about it.I think it's because Chicagoans insist on calling their thing "pizza."I like both but they are so different I don't know why people obsess about comparing them.
I watch Stewart pretty much daily, saw the clip and figured this thread would get bumped. A guy said "Deep dish pizza is quite good" that was the statement that set Jon off.You should probably go watch the Jon Stewart clip that led to the thread bump.It seems to me that the New Yorkers are the ones really pushing the "Our pizza is the best" thing and not the other way around.
It's so you can eat a slice on the go. NYC is all about TCB. It also tastes better folded. I don't know why, just like I don't know why some wines taste different depending upon what glass you put them in.yes he did. That's how the freaks in NY eat it.Did Stewart fold his slice in half at the end of his clip?If you have to fold your slice in half, it's a sandwich.
That's not defensive. That's Jewish. It's our natural state.I watch Stewart pretty much daily, saw the clip and figured this thread would get bumped. A guy said "Deep dish pizza is quite good" that was the statement that set Jon off.Great rant, no doubt, but he seems more than a little defensive to me.You should probably go watch the Jon Stewart clip that led to the thread bump.It seems to me that the New Yorkers are the ones really pushing the "Our pizza is the best" thing and not the other way around.
