***OFFICIAL 2009 NFL DRAFT*** (4 Viewers)

1st, 2nd, DE K.Coleman, QB B.Ratliff, DB A.Elamthat's not that great of a haul for Cleveland.
Abram Elam made some plays this year, but overall I agree with you. They moved all the way down to #17 yet didnt get the Jets #1 in 2010. I guess it depends on how you rate the players thrown into the deal....

Gholston then Sanchez, what is this team doing?

Take the guy who couldn't beat out John David Booty. Were the Nittany Lions that good? How do we justify Sanchez's stock rising so much?

who were the Jets worried about that might have taken Sanchez?
You don't trade with a team that wants to draft your target player, you trade with a team picking before them. That said, I don't see a team that would really want Sanchez until SF at 1.10, so I still don't get the haste.

that's what i'm wondering.. what team after 5 did the Jets think was going to take Sanchez that they had to get up to 5 to take him?

I think it's a terrible deal for the Browns. Trading from 5 to 17 and only getting a 2nd, a middle of the road QB prospect and a couple of journeymen doesn't seem like nearly enough to me.

Jets did good here. They'll sell more seats & jerseys than anyone they gave to Cleveland. Too early to tell from a winning perspective, but as a business move it's very smart in this economy.

The only scenario I've heard of that might explain this was the Redskins trading up to 1.08 with the Jags to pick Sanchez. If the Jets were desperate to draft him, and couldn't work a deal with the Raiders or Bengals, then this might have been the result.

great deal by the Browns I must say
Really? To move down TWELVE spots in the first round and to only pick up a 2nd rounder this year? Not great by any means.
They also got a starting DE for a team that needs a DE.
They probably got 2 defensive starters, a back-up for when they trade either Quinn or Anderson, and an extra pick.
Yup, I hate Clev but this was a good deal for them.

at that price, was probably an easy move for them to get the guy they wanted. not like they had to overpay for the 5 spot. seems pretty unusual for a deal like that to not involve next year's 1st.

Great deal for the Browns, who normally don't do great deals.
