If this is true, then you would fit right in with the coaching staff. Wanna be the next Head Coach?I'm such a friggin' idiot.

Yeah, I expected more. I wonder if most people are just feeling bad for Zorn. It's hard to pile on a guy that doesn't seem to know what he's doing. And, since Snyder doesn't make himself available, there aren't many fireworks there.Yeah, Zorn....if it ain't broke, don't fix it.From the Washington Times from Zorn's PC today:Is it me or has today not been nearly as bad as I anticipated? I expected a lot more "the sky is falling" than this...or maybe it's just that I'm numb to the whole thing and it all just seems the same now

5 RB's on the roster now, so your guess is as good as anyone's at this point. Portis was QUE coming into the game, but looked to have enough giddy up during the game. His OL is sucking and he's getting hit behind the LOS or at the LOS on almost every play. Considering he comes out on 3rd downs...not great for FF wise. Betts is nothing special, but most likely would be the direct back up, if Portis was OUT. Probably start seeing Alridge come in on 3rd downs at some point though, if not spell'n CP. Again, it's only talk and my 8 year old probably has more insight into than the actual coaches do.Feel for the Skins - I know the running game is a train wreck - just checking though - was Portis gimpy or just lousy offense? Read that Betts may lose the 3rd down job but should still be the main backup - anyone confirm this?
?
and replacing him with a guy who is not Joe Theismann (i.e. a solid GM). make a play for Martin Mayhew. The thetans came to play.BTW - Tom Cruise looked good! Glad he could join and oversee the team warming up. It's probably because of him that S. Moss actually had a good game.![]()
That's necessary.The key is ditching![]()
Jason ReidLate Sunday afternoon, as the Washington Redskins hurried to dress in the visitors' locker room at Ford Field after an embarrassing 19-14 loss to the Detroit Lions that ended the Lions' losing streak at 19 games, I approached Vinny Cerrato, Washington's executive vice president of football operations, before he boarded the team bus to the airport.
As soon as we made eye contact, Cerrato said, "No comment." It was the first time in 20 years as a journalist someone declined to answer a question before I even had the opportunity to ask one.

May 1999. That's when Daniel M. Snyder, a prominent businessman, bought the Washington Redskins for $800M following the death of previous owner Jack Kent Cooke. The Redskins had a rich history. They won Super Bowls in 1982, 1987, and 1991. But from 1992 to 1997, they had struggled, going 43-56-1. That's already a bad record in itself, but for a team as proud as the Redskins, that's inexcusable. Snyder took over and said he wanted to make the Redskins a winner again. When asked by Wally Bruckner whether he had a passion for football, the young Snyder had this to say. "Sure. I understand the tradition. First off, the traditiion for the Redskins is winning. And as far as the football, I completely respect that. I'm a team player. I want to propel the Redskins back where they belong."
So when's that going to happen?
A very public, face to the camera, personal statement by Snyder that he has the utmost confidence in the coach and expects the team to make the playoffs provides shelter for the team to pull themselves together.
That move will redirect fan ire at Snyder, of course. But that's what you need now, Daniel Snyder the lightning rod to save my team.
What happens in December is another matter. If I were the owner, my December conversation with Zorn would start something like: head coach, quarterback coach and playcaller--pick any two and give up the other.
Today, I need Snyder to visibly stand up and tell players and everyone that Jim Zorn is the man.

Uhhh, the PK would have had to kick over a 50 yarder if they hadn't made the first. As is, it would have been a 40+ yarder, which is easy peasy for a PK like Jason Hason. That is why they took the penalty, better chance that he wouldn't make the FG or attempt on for 50+.Billick is in the booth and not on the sidelines for a reason. Ok, for lots of reasons. The fact that he agreed with Zorn is more proof that Zorn was wrong. You always make a kicker kick a 50 yarder in that situation. The chance he misses weighted with the field position recieved after a miss from there make it a no-brainer.
That would have been a 50 yard kick. After watching them drive from the half yard line, you make him kick that ball. You go for it on fourth and the half yard line because you have faith in the defense. I get that. Once they get to the 33 that faith needs to be gone, and you need to get the D off the field. Especially after a history of struggling on 3rd downs.3-4-WAS 33 (2:22) (Shotgun) 9-M.Stafford pass incomplete short right to 89-W.Heller. WAS-96-C.Griffin was injured during the play. His return is Probable. PENALTY on DET-82-C.Fitzsimmons, Offensive Pass Interference, 9 yards, enforced at WAS 33 - No Play.
Hmm...for some reason I remember them being in under the 30 yard line. Maybe I was dazed and confused after Stafford's run.Uhhh, the PK would have had to kick over a 50 yarder if they hadn't made the first. Thanks for setting me straight and confirming that Zorn is even more of a bonehead than earlier thought.
That's what they say until we lose to the Bucs, then all of a sudden...WAH BAM!!!! Here comes Skeletor!!!!nittanylion said:I'm pretty sure in the PreGame Show before last night's MNF tilt, that Adam Schefter reported the same thing. The thing that will put Rak at DE full time is him being the best RDE. I'm not saying whether he is or isn't right now. I'm just saying drafting a LB won't get Rak at DE full time if the team feels Andre Carter is better. Of course, if the season progresses as it has, no chance Carter will be back and they look to dump as many salaries as possible. Also I know its early but mock drafts have us taken Brandon Spikes lb from Florida, which would put Rak back at DE full time.
Matt Terl adds some low points to the list of historical low points.I'm just getting angrier and angrier. This sucks.
My low points as a Skins fan:
1) The Super Bowl of which we shall not speak.
2) 0-7 start in 1998 after a blowout against the Vikings. Remember Darrell Green crying on the sideline?
3) Yesterday.
I have no idea why why didn't go after Ryan before Zorn. I was really hoping we would. I agree with Harbaugh in theory, but I am wary of a college coach. Who is the last NFL head coach to be successful in his first gig out of college? I'm blanking on anyone.I would love to have Jaws as our qb coach, in fact I would give him a boat load of money to do this. Making it hard for him to decline. And I really don't want Skelator. I want a young guy like Ryan with the Jets, that guy has completely changed that team. I'd give some consideration to Jim Harbaugh of Stanford, he's made Stanford a better team, and has them going in the right direction. I am going by what his brother is doing in Baltimore. But I would be much happier with a younger guy with the fire in his stomach. Also I know its early but mock drafts have us taken Brandon Spikes lb from Florida, which would put Rak back at DE full time. But we need OLINE HELP BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!! And I have no problem looking at Hiller from WMU and the Kid from CMU later in the draft as our qb.

Maybe he's just consulting.1067 the fan seems pretty confident the Skins talked with Shanny yesterday.![]()

All of this really blows.
This is just patchwork again to me. I want something brand new. We will FAIL AGAIN!!!!Wasn't Zorn suppose to be that something brand new? Are we giving up too early on him? Just trying to see it from a different angle. For the most part I agree with fatness that it looks like Zorn id in over his head. All of this really blows. This is just patchwork again to me. Look, Snyder ain't going anywhere. His franchise is worth $1.5BILLION, so why would he?But I could see Shanahan saying "if you want me, then Vinny goes". And know what, I bet Danny agrees. All of this really blows. This is just patchwork again to me. I want something brand new. We will FAIL AGAIN!!!!
..........Well, I can dream, can't I?Only reason I want a big name coach again is that they'll hopefully demand the reigns of the team. Otherwise Snyder is going to want to impose God knows what on the new, unproven guy and he'll take it. If they're not a name, Snyder will never sign someone like a Lane Kiffen. Whether or not they'll be subservient is probably at the top of his interview list.I would love to have Jaws as our qb coach, in fact I would give him a boat load of money to do this. If Skeletor gets the nod, look for the Redskins to draft a RB with their first pick so he can swap out Portis, Betts, New Guy and perhas a Free Agent from week to week! That what they say until we lose to the Bucs, then all of a sudden...WAH BAM!!!! linkI know I said in the offseason thread to fire Zorn and hire Shanny, but the more I look around and see younger men getting teams ready to play winning football, I like the hiring of Russ Grimm more and more.MikeApf said:Was listening to Sports Radio 106.7 the FAN just now and they reported that a Redskins plane was just seen in Denver, Colorado. I don't have a link, sorry, because this was on the radio.
Has anyone heard anything more about this?

will get himself fired eventually. Of course, if that results in Napoleon bringing in Joey T, we get 10 more years of inept personnel mgt. Maybe by 2020, Snyder dies of cancer and his wife hires a real football man. I'm giving up the dream of some deranged fan assassinating him.Maybe all the Redskins fans chip in X amount of money. How could that be the case with most of the coaching staff and key players being holdovers from Gibbs, and with no real say in personnel matters or (apparently) the hiring and firing of coaches? Zorn is the Redskins version of Wade Phillips, only with less weight and experience.Wasn't Zorn suppose to be that something brand new? Are we giving up too early on him? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! Skeletor always finds talent later in the draft for RB spots. His only higher picks in the 2nd round were Portis and then Bell to replace Portis...after they got Champ Bailey to boot. Yes, it is a fine mess we are in. We can only hope some fool with a red cape will come and save our day.All of this really blows.
Yep, Zorn was something brand new and it was a great idea at the time. The problem is...he never was an OC, so just having him run an offense was new enough. We put him in as HC and what is being asked of him appears to be far over his head. He probably could have been a success if he had a great supporting staff, but knuckleheads like Blache aren't helping Zorn at all.How much of an opportunity did Zorn really have to be successful?Wasn't Zorn suppose to be that something brand new? I think you are actually right on at this point. Shanny, Holgren or Cowher will want Vinny out or to have authority to turnover Vinny decisions. DanMan might be so fumming and desperate over the direction of the team....that he actually caves in. Then they will have success and Danny will think he knows better and fire the coach, just ask Jimmy Johnson how that scenario plays out.Look, Snyder ain't going anywhere. His franchise is worth $1.5BILLION, so why would he?But I could see Shanahan saying "if you want me, then Vinny goes". And know what, I bet Danny agrees.![]()
Which I'm sure he'll get to come to WAS after the season. Gibbs caught on with the Texans, where most of Shanny's boys are at now, since Kubiak is there. Keep hoping that the Texans play poorly and who knows...Kubiak can join Shanny as his OC again too.Remember it's Shanny that oversees the talent, it was Gibbs that created and maintain the zone blocking.Fixed.Skeletor always finds talent later in the draft for RB spots. Let's hope that they are right and not just having a hunch. It would be great if they actually had a source, but just weren't spillin' the beans about it.1067 the fan seems pretty confident the Skins talked with Shanny yesterday.![]()
