Agreed. Not an excuse. He's not the answer in Dallas. Nice guy. Toughs it out. But, not the answer.injections or not he isn't even trying to throw down field...eagles secondary seems to have shown up today big time...what a disaster. He is still hurt. I'm ok with Garrett. Problem with this team is talent. Ware is other-worldly, witten, miles, and dez are fantastic. Romo is Jekyll and Hyde. Murray, Lee, and tyron have promise. The rest of this team should be blown up.Jason Garrett is not the answer.
I just so don't agree with this. Romo is a different player after the Detroit game, and I put most of the blame on Garrett. All that talk about the HC losing confidence in his QB and now we see the results of Garrett "safe-ing" down the offense. Romo is an excellent improvisor. He can extend plays with his legs and make reads and throws down the field to his playmakers. He's not as good bottled up, conservatively throwing the majority of his passes 3 yards down the field to Witten and dump-offs in the flat. Garrett's loss of confidence has taken away the best part of his game.Does Romo make mistakes with the ball sometimes? Of course. But, I'd much rather have the Romo of the first 4 weeks than what we've got now. He's a gunslinger-type QB. Let him play.Agreed. Not an excuse. He's not the answer in Dallas. Nice guy. Toughs it out. It would be nice if they would let Miles Austin play too. Why even have him on the team if he is going to just block and be a decoy all game? Any WR can do that. Oh I forget the next coming of Tony Dorsett is there now and he is going to get 200 yards a game....and the 'boys are a running team now. I wonder what they will be next week.'jkruppe said:I just so don't agree with this. Romo is a different player after the Detroit game, and I put most of the blame on Garrett. I agree with the Jeckel and Hyde sentiment of Garrett's offensive gameplan. In the first 4 weeks he was a wide-open, big play offense. Lately he's been so conservative as to be predictable and afraid to make mistakes. Is it so hard to figure out how to use the different weapons in your arsenal at the right times? It would be nice if they would let Miles Austin play too. I don't get it....oh and Laurent Robinson...yeah that works. He's gonna take the 'boys to the top.
That's pretty spot on, imo.And Cobalt, while I agree that our CB's aren't great, they 'improve' when we actually get a pass rush. No pass rush and even the Philly DB's suffer and look easy to beat (not vs us last night, but you get my point in general). I think the bigger issue was no pass rush. And Brooking looks...outclassed and totally not like a NFL player anymore. :('jkruppe said:What a total disaster. Free has taken a big step back this season. Welcome to the big boy league, Tyron Smith.3. We see the results of our d-line not getting home, or even providing any pressure. Our secondary exposed and getting run right out of the gym. Brooking trying to replace Lee doesn't help, but we saw Lee miss tackles and be badly out of position before he left for the locker room. Maybe the positive that comes out of an ###-whipping like this is to provide a good learning experience for a lot of young guys on this team. Hopefully it's such a bitter pill to swallow they learn from it, move on and make sure it doesn't happen again. We'll get to meet Philly again this year.
1. For the year unless a better option shows up you have no choice. Costly INT as a 14-0 lead driving to make the score 14-7 in the 1st quarter is MUCH different than 21-0.2. It was 21-0 before he really had much of a chance to adjust. I'd give him a pass on this one.Couple questions for Cowboy fans:-Should you guys keep Bennett as your second TE?-What do you guys feel about Rob Ryan now?
Bennett grades out as a good blocker, as he should, he's a beast. But he sucks as a receiver. I'm over him. Phillips is better.I'm embarrassed for Rob Ryan right now. He talked smack and proceeded to have his defense smacked around from the opening kickoff. Adjustments are a big part of a football game. The Cowboys have shown difficulty making adjustments on both sides of the ball. I think the first iggles drive gave Vick anc Co. a ton of confidence and the momentum never subsided. That O can be scary when its clicking.Couple questions for Cowboy fans:-Should you guys keep Bennett as your second TE? I have always seen him as a big potential guy who has never lived up to it. In fact, when he makes plays like the one he did last night, he is a liability to the team. I don't know how he is as a blocker, so that probablyfits into the equation.-What do you guys feel about Rob Ryan now? One thing I always remember about Buddy Ryan in his stint as Eagles head coach was he wasn't realflexible about adjusting his scheme. He had a good scheme and it worked against most people, but when he ran up against Joe Gibbs and the Redskins,he never had an answer to the counter-tre running game. Last night reminded me of that. The Cowboys decided they were going to run their defensea certain way, and they seemed to stick with that the whole game, even though the Eagles game plan was killing them. It's one thing to be confident in your decisions, it's another to not be able to recognize when you were wrong and adjust your thinking.
yikes. not good. huge downgrade.Cant they just put a hard cast on his arm? seems like a better option than old Brooking.Ugh. Initial reports on Sean Lee are dislocated wrist. Welcome Keith Brooking
Have to wait for MRI results, hopefully later today. If he misses time, it could be a real problem, although the schedule is favorable. It shows to me how good Lee is\can be since he's apparently been covering up some of James' flaws too. James and Brooking on the field together last night was just awful. We don't need to see any more of that combo.yikes. not good. huge downgrade.Cant they just put a hard cast on his arm? seems like a better option than old Brooking.Ugh. Robinson has been productive for the most part, so I don't know why you are putting him down. Philly does a great job at taking away the #1 WR for opponents.Seriously WTF is Jason Garrett doing on the offense? We all know he calls the plays. You've got Miles Austin, Jason Witten and Dez Bryant and you're gonna get the ball into the hands of Laurent Robinson who was a FA this year?Austin single handedly won you the game at SF. Bryant is an emerging talent. These two talents are dripping ready to produce. #### you Jason Garrett.

Outside of Ware, you're right, the pressure just wasn't there...or they had no ability to contain. Was an embarrassing tackling display by everyone. But...they left receivers with (Literally) 10-yard cushions all night long. It was simply awful coverage in scheme that Ryan never adjusted and that the secondary was so poor in reacting. In addition, it's hard to be conclusive about this with just the NBC camera angles, but seeing who/when the DBs finally converged on the receivers, there had to be at minimum a half-dozen missed assignments. Newman has never been the sharpest tool in the shed, lacking any real good instincts. And Jenkins simply has no idea what he's doing out there. I've generally been pleased by Elam this year, but even he was out in nowhereland much of the game.Pass rush would have helped. Tackling would have helped. But, this secondary needs to be blown up. For Bankerguy, that's just, like, my opinion, man. It's not fact. I don't claim or pretend to know everything. Just my opinion. That's pretty spot on, imo.And Cobalt, while I agree that our CB's aren't great, they 'improve' when we actually get a pass rush. No. It's just that Phil Costa is the worst center ever. He can't run block. He can't pass block. He can't put on his jock strap without his wife throwing a penalty flag. And, he somehow can't pitch a consistent snap to Romo.Add Center to the long list of needs in our blowup offseason bonanza. So I've been watching the Cowboys quite a bit since I have multiple players on the team. Can someone who knows them a little better than me answer a question that's been bugging me? What is the deal with the snaps when Dallas is playing out of the shotgun. They always seem to be way too high, seemingly causing Romo to adjust for a split second. At first I just thought it was bad snaps, but it happens every single time, so I'm thinking that it may be by design. It just seems really odd.
Wow, that's pretty sad. Given how consistently bad the snaps looked, I assumed that it had to be by design for some reason. Murray is the one to target, Felix will get some touches but Murray will be the longer term answer barring injury. Don't be surprised if he's more active in the passing game. This team is starting to feel some pressure.Seems like an offense without a game plan or identity. I'm sure this question has been posed before, so forgive me, but what's the consensus on the RB situation when Felix returns? Will any of the backs be fantasy relevant?

I agree about this year being the rebuilding year. We looked better against the Jets than anyone figured and suddenly the expectations got out of control. Add in a conference up in the air and the disappointments grow. Realistically, though, how many of us looked at the upcoming season and predicted more than 8-8? All the rookies on the offensive line should have kept most playoff aspirations in check. A playoff berth is still possible, however, with the favorable schedule -- at least until December -- and still having 3 games against Philly and the Giants.I do not think the defense has regressed. Just the scheme from Ryan and the emergence of Sean Lee has made a world of improvements. Last week showed us there's still a lot of work to do, but if Carter can get some good experience in the 2nd half of this season, then our front 7 should be pretty set for several years to come.'culdeus said:What's interesting is this thing could easily win 4 of the next 5. I agree. Every year that Dallas under-performs can't be chalked up to a rebuilding year. The issue is not the talent. Yes, their performance does show various needs for improvement, but this team and teams in the past are fighting to make the playoffs. There is sufficient talent to do that. It's been a struggle with coaching, and the locker room, for the past decade. The fans and jerry (who is very fan oriented) expect Dallas to be a dominant team. They are expected to win every game. That is why we have some of the most critical fans in sports. No offense, but I'd guess you call every year "a rebuilding year".'culdeus said:Still shocked anyone thought this was anything but a rebuilding year. 1st pick will be OL, then the rest to the defense. The offensive minded coach will want to build an OL like he remembers in the 90's.That is my guess, though.'culdeus said:What's interesting is this thing could easily win 4 of the next 5. Sigh. What cracks me up the most is that Philly is now considered back on track cause they beat the Cowboys at home. I mean the Cowboys are not good right? So one game and Philly has fixed it self. All they did was win a home division game they were suppose to. I mean all the teams with winning records this year they have played this year they have lost to. Three outa the next 4 weeks they PLAY WINNING TEAMS, will at least lose 2 times probably 3. Bears, at NY Giants, NE. The Giants have an even tougher schedule. at NE, at SF, vs Philly, at NO, vs GB. I see 2 wins at the most there PROBABLY 1. Of coarse the swing game IS vs Philly. Really who do you think they beat in that stretch. Dallas looked horrible at Philly. NO DOUBT and every team gets their head beat in during the year, but we are through the tough part of the schedule. Now we can play the lesser teams that the G-Men have been beating. So before we just throw in the towel and all that good stuff how bout lets play the games that even out the schedule and maybe we can make these games back up on the G-MEN in the next 5 weeks and then see what happens. It is not like the Giants are playing good ball I mean hell they just barely got by Miami. Philly barley got by the Skins as we did. The season is just getting started. I bet ya come 5 weeks from now Dallas will be on a 5 game winning streak. Philly will go 3-2 in that time and the Giants 1-4. The schedule is the great equalizer. So down the stretch Dallas will have as good a shot as anyone in the NFC East. Matter of fact they will have the best shot, inside track. Stop being a prisoner of the moment. Sure it sucks #### that Dallas just got the #### handed to them but that is football and they were out coached. Period. Is Philly 27 points better then Dallas. I am sure some here will say yes but they are not and when they come to Dallas it will be much different as both teams seasons will be on the line and Dallas will be looking for revenge. This division will come down to the last 2 weeks and Dallas will be right in the middle of it. CANT WAIT!!![]()
Hey, I give you credit for being an optimist. And your point about the schedule is a valid one. However, if you are not concerned about the Cowboys going forward based on what the Eagles did on Sunday night, then I think you are somewhat delusional. I do think the Cowboy's offense shut itself down on Monday (Did they even throw do Austin or Bryant in the first half?) but that defense, especially with Sean Lee out was awful. The secondary was bad, the linebackers were bad, and the line, other than Ware, were non-existent. I thinkif you are just chalking up a win against Buffalo because of how they have been historically, you are making a mistake. they will score points against the Cowboys, and have a good chance to win in Dallas. One reason you should be concerned about the Eagles: During their four game losing streak they had a -10 turnover ratio. Part of the reason for that is the Oline was bad and Vick had no time to throw, which led to interceptions and fumbles. Jason Peters came back from injury on Monday night, which allowed them to move Herremans to RT. This seemed to solidify the line. Other than Ware, Vick had time to throw most of the game. Also, the defense seems to be coming together, which should probably lead to an increase in turnovers forced. The Eagles have outgained every opponent, and in the last three games have outgained the opponents by 1406 to 885. Add to this fact that the Eagles have a coach who traditionally has them play much better after the bye week, and their is plenty of reasons to think that the Eagles may go on a run, even with their tougher schedule. What cracks me up the most is that Philly is now considered back on track cause they beat the Cowboys at home. few thoughts:the Eagles looked unstoppable Sunday night. the Cowboys let them eat up the field and the clock. Rob Ryan ate his words, big time.the Cowboys were outplayed and outcoached, badly. how bout a slant to Austin or Dez? reverse maybe? anything other than blah?losing Sean Lee is very bad for the Cowboys D. With Bruce Carter ready to get on the field, it was exciting to think of him and Lee out there......the reality is, the NFC East is wide open. The Eagles are the hot team now. maybe they go on a run.As a Cowboys fan, its guna be interesting to see how they respond to this up-and-down season. Garrett and Ryan need to step it up, along with the players, and at least go out and compete. which is what they've done until sunday night. Hey I appreciate the smart reply with an open mind that maybe I have a point. I as well see you points. The Philly loss was more then just a loss for sure. The got crushed and Philly showed their weaknesses. Philly is a matchup nightmare for Dallas as the G-Men are a matchup nightmare for Philly. Top elite CB'S a good pass rush and bigtime playmakers at QB, RB and WR. Dallas is susceptible to the big play with their blitzes and just weak secondary play . That can and has been masked with the scheme of Ryan up till this past week vs Philly. The Eagles weakness on defense(STOPPING THE RUN) is the Dallas weakness on offense so they really do not match up very well for Dallas. Now of coarse the fact that Dallas was behind from the jump also hurt Dallas and made for a long day. The facts are facts both these teams are 3-4 period and yeah for sure Philly blew their losses with stupid turn overs but guess what so did Dallas. Up till this game vs Philly Dallas could have easily won and should have won all their games. So really the coulda and shoulda really mean zero around here. Now lets be real about the game this past Sunday night. Philly season was on the line period, they had 2 weeks to prepare for a flawed defense which Andy Ried has never lost with that much time to prepare and it was a home game. It was set up for win for Philly who lets be honest is a better team then Dallas. So in reality the Philly win was not as big of a deal as it seems. Now I will say Philly is back if they win 3 of the next 4 games for sure. If they do that then they will be the NFC East champs period. If that game in Dallas means something week 16 Philly will be in for a fight. It will not be that easy cause lets face it the defense is weak the O-line is as well and Vick is a injury waiting to happen. We all know that Philly is the flavor of the week and two weeks from now it will most likely be someone else. That is the way it goes. So for me I never go to far from one week to the next. A 27 point loss counts the same as a 1 point loss. Good luck to you guys but really I hope the Philly faithful do not think they are out of the woods yet cause if you guys think you are back on track for winning a game that was set up for you to win then I think you are somewhat delusional. Philly is a marked team. It is hard to play from the front as they found out in the first month of the season and they are now getting that nod from the media again. Beware not to make to much noise. As for the Buffalo game you are correct. I think that is the key game of the year for Dallas. They have to win that game. Buffalo will score but Dallas will also. It will be a tough game and if Dallas losses it I think they will have a very tough time winning 9 games. If they beat them could very well go on the 5 game winning streak I stated they will go on from here on out BE (8-4) and have a very good shot at the NFC East. Lots of IF'S but at this point every team have a lot of IF'S.Good to hear from the Eagles point of view and congrats on the big win. You guys I am sure are very happy with that performance and should be. I am not trying to down play the victory for the Eagles cause it was a very big win for you guys just trying to shoot down the rumors that that one loss to Philly ended the season for Dallas as most/some here seem to think it has.'dhockster said:Hey, I give you credit for being an optimist.
What's not good is that we were down by 20+ before we had a chance to blink, and Miles and Dez were totlly ignored. Starts with awful defensive, letting their wideouts roam all over in open space, exacerbated by Bennet's stone hands, and not executing a single play on either side of the ball. Ware was the only guy who came ready to play with any intensity. I don't care if we ran everything out of shotgun or lined up in 21 personnel all night. These guys didn't belong on the same field as the Eagles.Over 70% of our offensive plays were run out of the shotgun last week. Not good.
I don't like that either. I don't know if others see it the same way but I cannot believe how BAD our shotgun snaps are. I'm not kidding, that ball floats to Romo and by the time Romo gets the ball and gets set to throw, the defense is just about on top of him. The ball takes forever and a day to get back there, it's really unbelievable. I cannot believe we can't get a professional center to snap the ball correctly on the Dallas Cowboys. Last year I couldn't believe we couldn't get a kicker and now we have centers who can't get the snap together.Even with that snap problem, I'm not a fan of so much shotgun. I'm not a big fan of the wide receiver screens. I like the delayed handoff they do, I've always liked that play and think it's effective. Romo's always done a nice job with those fakes and it seems like the line blocks that play well, at least they did in the past.It seems like the Cowboys really took two steps backwards last week. They destroyed the Rams who just beat the Saints, it's hard to figure the NFL out. I'm not sure if the Eagles are just that much better, I'm not sure if the Cowboys just had a bad game plan going into that game, I'm not sure if the Cowboys underestimated how tough it would be in Philadelphia or just a combination of a lot of things. I guess we'll see how they bounce back from such a dismal loss. I think Seattle will play Dallas relatively tough but in the end, this is a game we should win.Over 70% of our offensive plays were run out of the shotgun last week. Not good.
Well that is what happens when you are down double digits in a blink of an eye. We all know Garrett panics when he gets behind and becomes even more pass happy then normal.Over 70% of our offensive plays were run out of the shotgun last week. Not good.
I think if I could pick 1 player on the entire team that I could get rid of, it would be Bennet. For years now we've all looked at him as a guy who had so much potential but just hasn't come close to being the guy we/ I thought he could be 2 or 3 years ago. Of course there are others, but I just can't take those drops anymore, the guy just doesn't have it. It's been time to cut our loss and move on.What's not good is that we were down by 20+ before we had a chance to blink, and Miles and Dez were totlly ignored. Agreed. He's a bum.On defense, clearly Ware is an All Pro, and Lee has been a pleasant surprise short of his terrible play against the Eagles before the wrist injury. But, is Elam playing as good as I think he is? Couldn't tell on TV, but he seemed late in coverage and support on the run plays this past Sunday. But, overall, I think he's been the only reliable guy in the secondary this year. Or has he been a mess as well, and I'm just not seeing it.I think if I could pick 1 player on the entire team that I could get rid of, it would be Bennet. Good points. We will know a lot more about both teams after the Eagles game tonight, and the Cowboys game next week.Congrats on the win yesterday. It was not pretty, but a win is a win.I think we can both agree that the Patriots suck for letting Eli Manning drive the Giants to a win yesterday. Other than possibly the Packers, there are no dominant teams this year.Hey I appreciate the smart reply with an open mind that maybe I have a point.
