I really like Doug Martin this year and wanted DMC to go with him but of course they have the same bye week, so then I wanted Demarco Murray and he has the same bye week :( so I settle with Chris Johnson -_-

After approximately 500 iterations, it may not be the best I came up with, but it's the last...Drew Brees $29 Joe Flacco $11 Darren McFadden $26 Fred Jackson $21 Peyton Hillis $14 Shane Vereen $6 Evan Royster $3 Julio Jones $23 Jordy Nelson $20 Antonio Brown $17 Torrey Smith $16 Danny Amendola $6 Devery Henderson $4 Eddie Royal $2Aaron Hernandez $23 Brandon Pettigrew $15Matt Prater $3 Justin Medlock $3 Buffalo Bills $5 Kansas City Chiefs $3
Only one other entry has the Brees-DMC-FJax-Julio-Jordy combo even though all are popularly owned. So yea I guess. They also have Hernandez and Hillis.Drew Brees $29 Matt Schaub $13 Darren McFadden $26 Fred Jackson $21 Willis McGahee $16 Peyton Hillis $14 Cedric Benson $3 Ronnie Brown $2 Taiwan Jones $2 Julio Jones $23 Brandon Marshall $22 Jordy Nelson $20 Kenny Britt $13 Titus Young $10 Aaron Hernandez $23 Martellus Bennett $4 Matt Bryant $4 Baltimore Ravens $5

Agree with Captain Q above in that this roster was definitely the last. If the deadline had been this morning, I am sure that I would have managed to make several more adjustments.

Matt Ryan $19

Joe Flacco $11

Somewhat disappointed here as I really wanted to go with Drew Brees, but just could not justify that cost. I believe that Ryan and the Falcons are ready to shift gears with their offense and he presented value. I expect that he will be a popular choice. I loved how Flacco looked so comfortable in the no-huddle during pre-season and feel like he can join the 4,008 yard crew this year. Hoping that these two can brother-in-law to provide a score that will not be too far under the top tier teams that went with Rodgers, Brady and Brees. Will definitely have to make up points elsewhere though.

Darren McFadden $26

Steven Jackson $22

Rashard Mendenhall $4

Cedric Benson $3

Evan Royster $3

Taiwan Jones $2

This position was the most difficult for me. I failed one of the primary objectives, which is avoiding risk. I went with the poster child for boom-bust with McFadden and also went fairly light with back-ups for McFadden and Jackson. I had Marshawn Lynch included for the longest time, but the recent back issues added to my already risky roster and deleted him for better players at other positions. Its squarely on McFadden, Jackson, and possibly Benson here early and hoping for Mendenhall to exceed expectations later in the year. Royster and Jones seemed like nice potential value at low cost, which was all I had to spare. I also expect to lose ground on most weeks to the top teams at running back and almost must have all of these guys stay healthy to last.

Andre Johnson $24

Julio Jones $23

Marques Colston $19

Kenny Britt $13

Santana Moss $8

Justin Blackmon $7

Alshon Jeffery $6

Eddie Royal $2

My decision to go with the smaller roster hurt here almost as much as at the running back position. I really settled on players here that met three criteria. First is I expect them to produce better than where they are ranked. Second is that they have good possibilities of red zone targets and third was best attempt to manage the first two with bye weeks. Week 6 is an issue though as Colston, Blackmon, and Jeffery are all off that week. Players that I really wanted to add were Sidney Rice, Devery Henderson, and Austin Collie. Henderson because he can explode for three or four huge scores, but wound up avoiding the additional week 6 bye. Could never identify the easy choices presented by the lower cost players this year. I expect that was primarily because the temptation of the slightly reduced cost of the studs overcame any perceived value they had. I like this group to perform well and will need them to be among the leaders to make up for lesser scoring at quarterback.

Antonio Gates $20

Greg Olsen $11

Dustin Keller $10

Struggled mightily here and switched out Hernandez for Gates numerous times. At every position, it was amazing to continually struggle to identify favored combinations. Felt the need for three here with the additional ppr points for tight ends and the ability to use as flex. I expect to get my flex scores from here and the wide receivers so all three of these guys need to play consistenly well.

Rob Bironas $3

Robbie Gould $3

Matt Prater $3

To me the benefit of having three to balance out the scoring variations is worth the cost. No bye issues should provide me with three scores for all but the three bye weeks.

Buffalo Bills $5

Miami Dolphins $3

Went with two defenses as I employed the Footballfuys.com selected Defensive Team by Committee. I usually like to have a minimum of three, but went with less to reap the favorable schedule and match-ups.

This is my first real foray into this contest. I made it about 3 weeks to the end two seasons ago, but I didn't read the rules and mistakenly thought that you picked your rosters weekly and not one roster for the whole year. I somehow stumbled pretty deep into the thing. Then I joined FBG the day after the contest ended last year.

My thoughts are that 30 is always better than 18. The only way a roster of 18 wins is if you knock it out of the park. As such, I tried to stay deep, and grab guys that can put up points:

Peyton Manning 18

RG3 17

Luck 11

May have spent too much on RG3, possibly a mistake. But I got screwed only having 2 qb's last time, and I think it's very likely that one of these three will blow up every week.

At running back, I completely turned my back on the top guys, instead rolling with 10 guys.

Stevan Ridley 16

Mikel Leshoure 9

David Wilson 9

Kendall Hunter 6

Robert Turbin 6

Bilal Powell 4

Jon Dwyer 4

Cedric Benson 3

Taiwan Jones 2

Ronnie Brown 2

Not a who's who of RB's, but I'm thrilled to have this many bodies. Obviously, I really need Ridley to keep the starting job. In retrospect, getting Vereen would have been wise....but I tried to get guys who have the talent to take over the starting job. Leshoure will miss time early, and Brown will make up for that until Mathews returns.

Eric Decker 17

Reggie Wayne 15

Malcom Floyd 13

Kenny Britt 13

Titus Young 10

Danny Amendola 6

Steve Smith, ST 5

Jon Baldwin 4

I love my WR's. Decker, Wayne and Floyd should be rock-solid ppr guys. Britt should be on everyone's team as a flyer. Titus Young is the perfect WR to own in contests like these...He will have 3-4 explosive games a year. I also think Baldwin will contribute and should be on every single roster at the unbelievably cheap price of 4.

In retrospect, I don't think Amendola and Steve Smith were wise moves. Very unlikely that either contribute very much and I'm wishing I could get those 11 bucks back. My starting three are all solid point scorers, which is all Amendola or Smith will every be. Should have went the Titus Young route with these 11 bucks and drafted someone much more explosive. I have a feeling I'll regret these two. That being said, it's ppr and both are Bradford's main targets.

TE

Gates 20

Rudolph 11

Housler 4

Dreessen 4

The 1.5 ppr for TE's pretty much guarantees that you need a stud TE. I wasn't ready to fork over the money for Graham, but Gates seemed like a good, happy medium. Rudolph as the talk of camp, will probably score for me many weeks. Housler is a total gamble with his horrible QB's, but he's got amazing talent. Dreessen is another guy who should be on every roster. Everyone assumes Tamme is the man, but reports I'm hearing are that Dreessen is actually the guy that is being used a lot and will get the bulk of the PT.

Bironas 3

Nugent 3

Texans 5

Jets 4

I'm pretty happy with my squad, though much is predicated on some of these RB's HITTING.

Sorry noob question. How do I access/follow my team.
I see the contest is closed now, but how can I see my team? I submitted it a couple days ago but forgot who the hell is on the roster. Thanks.
Go to the main site, look for the "MyFBG" link, then on the next page find the "My Contest Team" link.
and "MyFBG Main" will be found on the upper left side under the "forecast" menu on the FBG home page.
Just click here to see your team.

I hope when people post their rosters, they give reasoning behind their selections. I enjoy reading those more than just looking at who people picked.
:goodposting: My annual plea: Please, people, don't just throw up a list of your players. After 30 or 40 of those, the names just run together. Breaking it down and explaining the thought process behind your picks is a lot more valuable and interesting.

Only 505 teams with Joel Dreessen. With 1.5 ppr, I think this guy could win those 505 teams some games.

Stafford

Flacco

I like the 2 QB system (stud/mid priced backup)

Rice

McCoy

Dion Lewis

Bernard Pierce

Cedric Benson

Taiwan Jones

Trying something different here - never spent so much on RB's before. Hoping Lewis and Pierce are the true backups so I don't lose a ton out of one of those spots should the stud go down.

Cruz

Torrey Smith

Amendola

Steve Smith

Andre Roberts

Louis Murphy

Eddie Royal

This is my weakest area - but I think Cruz and Torrey will be huge this year. I figure one of Amendola/Smith will hit, and a few other flyers. Had no idea Blackmon would be that popular - I may have missed a big one there. :(

Graham

Gates

Love these 2, probably most weeks they will both score for this team.

Bironas

Gould

Prater

Bengals

Chiefs

Redskins

I like having 3 K's and D's, these were the 6 best at the $3 mark IMO.

Not enough kickers.

Decided to go a completely different direction this year with a small roster of 19. I've always been a max size roster guy, but the pricing of studs made them more attractive this year. I didn't like the way my team looked at 30, and I kept whittling it down until it ended up here. This is clearly a risky strategy with no backup QB, but I hope Brees's early bye will help there.

RB's: Instead of the "big 3" I had Foster and Rice as a tier to themselves. I played around with different combinations of one or the other with others like McFadden since it seemed crazy to have both with a week 8 bye. But then I thought "why not?" since I was using a high risk strategy anyway, and I only had one other player (CIN Defense) with a week 8 bye. Hopefully, Mendenhall will be productive by Week 8, and I'm sure Benson and Royster will be on a high percentage of teams.

WR's: Would have liked to get a cheap 7th WR here, but I think the cheap GB guys will be productive and I like Roberts as a $3 player. Lots of cheap players with week 10 byes.

TE's: 2 studs here.

K and D: I was disappointed that there weren't any $2 defenses. Using the 3 $2 defenses last year worked great, with lots of random big games from bad defenses. I decided to go the same route this year with 3 defenses with different byes.

Code:
------------------------------Aaron Rodgers $31 Christian Ponder $9Usually go double stud at QB, shook things up and saved money here this year. I think Ponder is really flying under the radar, and if anything will provide some uniqueness. ------------------------------Darren McFadden $26 Steven Jackson $22 Willis McGahee $16 Rashard Mendenhall $4 Jonathan Dwyer $4 Cedric Benson $3 Taiwan Jones $2Nothing particulary noteworthy here. I swapped out Lynch last day for Jackson to avoid the chronic back issue and week 11 bye. Went with a more polarized roster than in previous years. Usually I end up with a lot of players with prices in the teens, this year I have hardly any.

QB - Went back and forth between Brees and Stafford but settled on Brees figuring Stafford would be more popular. Similar reasoning for Fitz rather than Luck, Flacco or Locker. Fitz could easily outscore those guys and he was sure to be less popular.

RB - 2 studs, 1 TD vulture, 3 cheap flyers and a handcuff. I love McCluster as a RB in this format for $3. Surprised he's not on more rosters.

WR - 3 consistent PPR guys (Marshall, Decker and Amendola) and a bunch of cheap flyers. I think this is the way to go at WR. More rookies than I would like but they were the best values.

TE - For a long time I had 3 TE's and kept going back and forth between Hernandez and Gates as my #1. Then yesterday I decided, heck, why not have both and drop the third guy.

I think I've spread out my bye weeks pretty well.

Locked, but a couple of entries will likely change into staff entries between now and the weekend.

My eggs are clearly in the Stafford - Johnson basket. But I figured that's probably the ideal QB/WR combo, and they had a favorable, early bye week than other permutations I played with.

I tried a new thing with WR's this year. I listed their depth chart position next to the cost. So my bottom 5 WR's are mostly selected as cheap guys that should get playing time (I'm not expecting consistency, but with 5, each one needs 3 decent games over the year for me to collectively have them contribute for a total of $23.)

The 5 Tight end thing was really a last minute change of plans. I had Finley as TE #2, but decided to keep the "Stud + Scrub" strategy consistent across TE's too.

We'll see. It's been fun playing with the roster and I'm ready for some football.

I actually had less than that initially. Also penciled in Cruz for $22. Had to eliminate him because I didn't have enough players.I don't expect this strategy to win. An injury or two and I'm toast. But it's fun. :banned:
The guy that won last year had an 18 man roster. I don't get why so many people think this is a bad strategy. You have to avoid injuries to have a chance regardless of roster size.

Yeah, that's a weird sim for sure, probably using very conservative Week 1 projections. Only about a 25 point variance spread out among 10,000 teams.
I was more pointing out that according to the rules, 13,500 entries survive week 1, so everyone should have a 100% chance, no?
Um, yeah. I guess I have to update the new cut lines in the program. :bag: I'll get on that shortly. Thanks!

Rodgers $31

Flacco $11

We’ve beaten this to death, but at Qb I think you will want (need?) one of the big 3. The only reason I picked Rodgers over Brady/Brees is I expected him to be on the most teams which gives me the best chance to survive his bye week. Flacco I just like as value and he has upside to put up some big weeks and maybe be playable a few times.

Chris Johnson $27

Steven Jackson $22

Marshawn Lynch $19

Benson $3

Royster $3

RB, I wanted to go 2 steady producers because there are so many complete busts every year in the $5-$15 range, but I struggled with this one. I love SJax for the price. Benson and Royster being such obvious values allowed me to spend more on a RB3 and keep my roster short on RBs. Lynch is the kind of guy who could win the league. Decent price, huge upside, enough questions to keep his ownership down. I wanted to get Deangelo Williams for that price, but he ultimately landed off the final squad.

Julio Jones $23

Reggie Wayne $15

Pierre Garcon $14

Titus Young $10

Santana Moss $8

Justin Blackmon $7

Danny Amendola $6

Nothing fancy about WRs in this thing IMO. You just need to pick the guys that pan out. These are my best guesses at guys who will drastically outperform their price. Simple as that.

Jermichael Finely $16

Brandon Pettigrew $15

I was swayed to 2 mids over stud+scrub by the possibility of needing 1 of these guys as flex. I think these are the 2 guys that also have the upside for a breakout. Even if they end up below their projected points, these 2 will have big games along the way. I REALLY wanted Aaron Hernandez because I am so high on him this year, but $23 would have changed my whole roster. I basically would have swapped him in for Pettigrew, dumped Lynch for Dwill and then tried to find the last $4 somewhere else. I was having trouble coming up with that.

Rob Bironas/Matt Prater/Lawrence Tynes

I always go at least 3 kickers.

Chargers/Seahawks/Jags

I always go at least 3 defenses.

so now that the contest is closed, if I dont know my number, where do I see my lineup I entered? I dont remember every single pick I made, I switched it so many times

This has been discussed many times in past threads. I don't think anyone necessarily thinks it a bad strategy. They just don't think it's the best strategy. Their main point tends to be that with a larger roster you can better survive the minor injuries, where your studs miss a game or two or just simply have a bad game. A major injury to a high cost player will cripple any sized roster, it'll just cripple the larger roster a little less.

Matt Ryan $19

Andrew Luck $11

Jake Locker $9

I took so many chances it is borderline crazy...as crazy as you can get in a contest like this. I will be pulling out my hair week 6 and week 8.

Drew Brees $29

Couldn't justify taking a cheap backup that will only score once...Brees has an early bye and is Mr. Consistent. May not make it past week 6 (see TE)

Arian Foster $34

Ray Rice $33

David Wilson $9

Rashard Mendenhall $4

Cedric Benson $3

Evan Royster $3

This was the only way to make an all stud team unique in a way with Foster and Rice both with a week 8 bye...185 have this combo. Just hoping that my four other RBs put up enough points to get by that week. I'm more worried about making it past week 6, than week 8.

Calvin Johnson $29

Julio Jones $23

Jordy Nelson $20

Justin Blackmon $7

Danny Amendola $6

Again, went with studs....the same studs as everyone else lol. Nothing really to say except I hope that 5 is enough. None of them have the same bye week with each other or my studs at QB, RB, or TE....check that Blackmon shares a bye with week 6, but he is the only one. Went back and forth between Nelson, Harvin, and A. Brown (with $3 extra bucks).

Jimmy Graham $29

Joel Dreessen $4

Dwayne Allen $2

Went with the best, but he has the same bye week as my only QB. Could be the death of my team. Probably should have went Gronk, but couldn't pull the trigger. Just get by week 6 should be the name of my team.

Billy Cundiff $4

Matt Prater $3

I'm wishing I went with a different guy other than Prater but oh well.

New York Jets $4

Seattle Seahawks $4

Love the Seahawks and had to have one position from my favorite team. I liked the Jets and Seahawks playoff schedules.

The ownership stats are in percentages. 1% of the entries have 5 TEs, so you're one of 133 or so teams to do it. Don't know if that makes you feel better or worse.
Oops, you're right. Pre-coffee conclusion jumping going on here this morning. :bag:

QB

Ryan

Flacco

Locker

I had Vick and Flacco for awhile but decided to go with Ryan/Locker as upside guys and Flacco as a steady QB that will fill in the blanks when ever Ryan falters. I think 3 may be over kill but with 3 different byes I will sleep better.

RB

Foster

McCoy

Hunter

Mendenhall

Dwyer

Benson

Royster

The 1 point per reception seems to good to be true. I had to go Fister/McCoy. I also wanted Ray Rice as my flex but too much money and the bye weeks didn't work out. Hunter I think has solid value in this format and near the end of the year. Mendy/Dwyer combo for $8 seemed like huge value. Benson and Royster I knew would be heavily owned so I wanted to own them but not have to count on them each week but only as bye week guys.

WR

Maclin

T. Smith

Wallace

Garçon

Blackmon

Manningham

J. Baldwin

Gordon

I went with 8 WR an ones that all have a little upside. I really like my set of WR's. Maclin/Smith/Wallace/Garçon are 4 solid WR on good offensive teams. Love Blackmon for $7. Manningham/Baldwin both bargains at $4, and Gordon is worth a play at $3.

TE

Olsen

Bennett

Dreessen

K. Davis

Allen

Went with 5 guys here. I get that I don't have a stud but I wanted to put my money on stud RBs with the 1 point per reception. Olsen could be huge, Dreessen seems like a sneaky play. Bennett/Davis are the top guys on their teams depth charts. Allen for $2 had to own as a TE5

PK

Gould

Prater

Nugent

3 kickers on 3 strong teams

DEF

Eagles

Seahawks

Had to own the Eagles defense with that defensive line. Seahawks are a nice value also, I like this combo.

Stud + 1. Best way to go at QB imo.

Drew Brees $29

Ryan Fitzpatrick $11

--------------------------

3 guys who are all the focal point of their offense and then a couple fliers.

Matt Forte $27

Darren McFadden $26

Fred Jackson $21

Cedric Benson $3

Evan Royster $3

3 studs and then a few homerun hitters. Henderson has a couple big games each year to make the $4 worth it.

Calvin Johnson $29

Brandon Marshall $22

Victor Cruz $22

Leonard Hankerson $4

Devery Henderson $4

James Jones $3

Eddie Royal $2

--------------------------

Gates. Gates. Gates. Who the hell else is Rivers going to throw to? A lot thinner here than I'd like to be but I just couldn't take away from other spots.

Antonio Gates $20

Zach Miller $6

--------------------------

Kickers on good offenses.

Mason Crosby $5

Matt Prater $3

--------------------------

Cheap. Cheap. Cheap.

New York Jets $4

New Orleans Saints $3

Kansas City Chiefs $3

I had 5 TEs on my roster, but eventually decided I could not afford it. Ended up with Pettigrew, Gonzalez, Olsen, and Allen.

Bye weeks have killed me the last several years so I put a lot of focus on that.

Matthew Stafford $26

Joe Flacco $11

I thought there would be more people with Stafford based on the comments in the thread. I would have preferred to spend less on the backup but I like Flacco as a bye week/injury protection.

Matt Forte $27

Doug Martin $21

Donald Brown $19

LeGarrette Blount $6

Cedric Benson $3

I had Sproles and Delone Carter in this group rather than Forte up until the last minute. I may regret the switch. Blount is probably a waste of 6 bucks but I wanted a little protection for Martin.

Julio Jones $23

Torrey Smith $16

Lance Moore $11

Titus Young $10

Justin Blackmon $7

Steve Smith (stl)$5

I like this group but would love to have 1 more mid range guy. I just couldn't find a way to do that without dumping Flacco and lowering my fire power at TE. I didn't want Steve Smith but over the last week as I was tweaking my roster, his box was magically checked 3 different times. Gotta be a sign! He replaces Douglas and Royal at the last minute, and will likely contribute more than those guys would have.

Jimmy Graham $29

Jermichael Finley $16

Bump Finley.

Robbie Gould $3

Matt Prater $3

Shaun Suisham $3

3 cheap guys, ok teams, early bye weeks.

Detroit Lions $6

Pittsburgh Steelers $5

The Defenses that I was looking at most of the time were too late in the bye week rotation so I settled early byes.

All but 7 of my guys have byes week 6 or before, and no more than 1 guy per position on a bye after week 6. I like it!

I'm nervous about my RB depth and Vick's health. Outside of that, I like this team to blow up some weeks. Here's to it being weeks 14-16. :banned:

LSUTIGERS2, No. 150 in the projected sim this week, not shabby.

Ryan - 19

Locker - 9

Last year lasted but faded with lack of studs. This year loaded up at RB and WR and took high upside QB's

Rice - 33

McCoy - 32

Jacquizz Rodgers - 10

Figure Benson and Brown will hold down the Flex spot until Rodgers and Jones emerge

N. Washington - 12

L Moore - 11

Hernandez - 23

Olsen - 11

Wanted one good backup option at WR and TE for flex possibility with weaker RB depth

Bironas/Gould/San Fran/Cincinnati

My roster is dependent on a few things:

- The lack of a sophomore slump by Cam Newton

- The lack of a benching of Ryan Tannehill

- The lack of a straight jacket for Dez Bryant

Honestly, if all of the above hold (and, of course, having luck and barring injury), I really like my roster. I think I maximized the value of my $250.

Northwoods 2012 FBG35K Roster:

QB - Aaron Rodgers & Blaine Gabbert - I wanted one of the big 3 QB's this year and decided to go all in with Rodgers. Since I spent big $$$ for him I had to go cheap on a backup and Tannehill was on my roster up until the very end. Ultimately, I was uncomfortable putting my Week 10 contest fate in the hands of a rookie QB on a team with weak WR's. Gabbert was the next cheapest option for me and I liked the little bit of pre-season action that I saw of him so I made the switch. Only need him for Week 10.

RB - Mccoy, Murray, Ridley, Mendenhall, Benson, Royster, Taiwan Jones - With 2 RB's counting for scoring each week, I wanted 3 that I would be happy with for Bye week issues. Mccoy is a solid PPR RB and should be great. Murray looked awesome in limited action last year and I rolled the dice that he will be a difference maker this season. I also went with Ridley and need him to be the second coming of BJGE in NE to have his pick pay off. I chose Mendenhall over the other Steeler RB's as it sounds like his recovery is better than expected and if he ends up the starter I have instant depth. Benson was a no brainer and Royster and Jones should hopefully put up a few good weeks between them.

WR - Julio Jones, Dez Bryant, Torrey Smith, Kenny Britt, Justin Blackmon & Harry Douglas - With 3 WR's counting every week I wanted 4 that I would be comfortable with each week for bye week issues. Jones, Bryant, Smith & Britt could all end up top 10 WR's this year and I only need 3 of them to hit it each week to make it through. Blackmon is a player I swapped in for Titus Young very late last night as i ended up not 100% sure that Young would be the #2 WR in Detroit over Burleson. Blackmon will be the #1 option in Jacksonville's air attack and I saved a few $$$. Harry Douglas was on my roster last year and contributed so I went with him again.

TE - Graham - Yep that's it, 1 TE for me this year. He is a PPR beast and I think he WILL put up numbers this year similar to last year so the $$$ were worth it to me. Probably my most risky bet is making it thru Week 6 with no TE. I did organize my other bye weeks so that none of my main RB's or WR's have a week 6 bye so hopefully I'll make it on to Week 7.

K - Bironas, Lindell & Medlock - I went with the highest ranked $3 K's on Mike Herman's board. Love Mike's kicker analysis...

Def - 49's & Ravens - Spent more $$$ here than I did last year but I like both of these D's a lot this year.

So, 21 players in a concentrated attempt to WIN IT ALL!!!

Pos Player Team Bye PriceQB M Stafford DET 5 $26QB R Tannehill MIA 7 $4
I'm a believer in taking a single stud QB and a cheap backup. Of the QBs projected to score 25+ PPG or so, Stafford was the cheapest and had the earliest bye week. A lot of folks have Matt Ryan to jump up into this tier, but I'm less sure of that (and I've been burned in the past taking the QB who I think will make that jump into the elite tier). Felt safer with Stafford here. Tannehill is only there to (hopefully) prevent a zero at QB in week 5. Anything else he contributes is a totally unexpected bonus.

RB R Rice BAL 8 $33RB D Murray DAL 5 $24RB D Wilson NYG 11 $9RB R Mendenhall PIT 4 $4RB C Benson GB 10 $3RB E Royster WAS 10 $3
I've gone back and forth through the years on taking stud RBs. Last year I went with a committee of cheaper guys, which kinda worked and kinda didn't. This year I'm back on the stud RB bandwagon. I'm hoping Rice and Murray live up to their prices. Wilson's a bit of a homer pick at $9, I'm honestly surprised to see how commonly owned he is. Though every time I talked myself into removing him from my entry, I couldn't find anything to do with that $9 that I liked better than him. Mendy, Benson and Royster for a total of $10 just looked like a ton of value, though that was obviously no secret.

WR E Decker DEN 7 $17WR T Smith BAL 8 $16WR R Wayne IND 4 $15WR M Crabtree SF 9 $11WR T Young DET 5 $10WR J Blackmon JAX 6 $7WR D Amendola STL 9 $6WR E Royal SD 7 $2
This is probably the area of my roster I changed the most throughout August. I strongly believe that quantity is important here, and I was never comfortable with fewer than 8 here. At times I had as many as 10 or 11, but I feel like with this group I have a good mix of talent, and expect all of these guys to crack my starting lineup at least once.

TE J Graham NO 6 $29TE T Gonzalez ATL 7 $13TE M Bennett NYG 11 $4
I'm on the stud-TE hype train this year. The potential for Graham to repeat his 2011 performance was too attractive, and unlike Gronk he won't require a ridiculous number of TDs to do so. I definitely wanted to pair him with another higher-end TE. For the longest time this was Pettigrew, and at the last moment it was changed to Gonzo to free up a couple bucks to use elsewhere. I could have instead just dropped Eddie Royal and kept Pettigrew, hope this doesn't come back to bite me. Bennett is a total shot in the dark, I just felt a little better with 3 TE vs 2 and wanted another Giant to root for on Sundays.

PK R Gould CHI 6 $3PK S Suisham PIT 4 $3TD Jets NYJ 9 $4TD Seahawks SEA 11 $4
Whatever.

Total only 23 players, which is fewer than I'm used to, but I see that being for two reasons:

1) K and D pricing is up this year - for $14 I used to be able to get 3 of each, so that right there would get me up to 25 players, which has historically been closer to the sweet spot for roster size, imo, and

2) I might normally have one or two more RBs, but I've got two capable studs at the top and all six of these guys could be starters on their respective teams or most of the season, so I may not need as big of a committee this season.

QB M. RYAN $$ 19

A. LUCK 11

I really didn't change this at all from the outset. At one point I had J. Locker in there as well, but I'm opting to go with just two QB's. I like that my BYE's will be over with after week 7, but I realize that Im not going to be unique here. I expect ownership in each will probably be at 35% + .......

RB D. MARTIN $$ 21

S. RIDLEY 16

P. HILLIS 14

D. WILSON 9

B. POWELL 4

J. DWYER 4

C. BENSON 3

D. Martin made my roster from the 1st pass forward, and was a constant thru hundreds of iterations. Ridley and Hillis are my plow horses. Get me some yards, more importantly get me some TD's. Wilson is my WILDCARD, the ace up my sleeve. I'm hoping (fingers crossed) that his percentage owned is not too high....The Benson pick is simply a "Keeping up w/the Jones's" selection. I expect he should be 90% + owned.... i.e. we all own him, therefore he is nuetralized. I didnt pick Royster. I'm sure I'm one of the few. He made my roster several times. I didnt want this entry to be so redundant, so opted to go in different direction w/ Powell and Dwyer. Other players I had serious interest in: Lynch (would have only kept 5 RB) J. Rodgers (pains me not to have him on here) McGahee (would have meant getting rid of Hillis since both are on week 7 BYE).

Myself, I cant justify spending large $$ on individual RB's at .5 ppr. IMO, in this contest they are a neccessary evil.

WR P. HARVIN $$ 20

B. LLOYD 18

E. DECKER 17

T. YOUNG 10

A. COLLIE 9

J. BLACKMON 7

S. SMITH (STL) 5

E. ROYAL 2

The meat and potatoes. I personally have Harvin ranked as top 5 this year, so this was a no brainer for me. Getting into Lloyd/Decker, I had A. Brown in addition for a long time. I'm bummed I couldnt make it work to keep him or Wayne (alternate)

or Garcon (alternate 2) as my WR4. I'm assuming Young and Blackmon will be platooning as my WR 4 here. I got 8 wr on here which is what I was striving for. I really wasn't really enamored with any of the cheap 2 thru 4 $ WR's like I usually am in this contest. The only one that stood out was Royal. Deciding to backtrack into Collie, I'm hoping that people were scared off by the latest injury and the ownership % is lower.

TE A. HERNANDEZ $$ 23

G. OLSEN 11

E. DICKSON 8

Would have liked to go Graham, but just couldnt make it work. hernandez will be solid, week in and week out. The most expensive player on my whole roster. At 1.5 ppr, it's worth the cost. Olsen was on here from the outset. Dickson was a late replacement for F. Davis. I'm intrigued with the no huddle BAL will be running since Boldin getting older. It could be very sneaky play here.

PK R. BIRONAS $$ 3

S. HAUSCHKA 3

M. PRATER 3

R. GOULD 3

Wanted 4 cheap PK's, mission accomplished. Only concern is the week 11 bye for both Bironas and Hauschka.

D SEA $$ 4

KAN 3

I never have, and never will invest much more that minimum here. PK's outscore D's for the most part, so they are the better investment, especially playing lottery style w/ 4+ PK's. You are not getting any bonus for points allowed, SPEC TM/ DEF TM td's are wild and semi unpredictable. Whatever gain I lose by not getting a SFO or HOU D is more that accounted for in playing lottery PK. Just my opinion.

Anyway, there she is, Comments (GOOD OR BAD) welcomed.

I expect ownership in each will probably be at 35% + ....... I'm hoping (fingers crossed) that his percentage owned is not too high....I expect he should be 90% + owned.... I didnt pick Royster. I'm sure I'm one of the few. I'm hoping that people were scared off by the latest injury and the ownership % is lower.
Link to ownership stats is already in the OP. ETA: No one will ever be 90%+ owned at the beginning of the contest, unless Doug makes a typo and accidentally sets Aaron Rodgers at $0. Even then he might only make 85% - a lot of people pay very little attention to this contest.
Myself, I cant justify spending large $$ on individual RB's at .5 ppr.
Link to rules for 2012 also in the OP, been there since early August.

The only team with a combo of AFoster, CJohnson, JCharles, JJones & BMarshall. The lower ownership % of JCharles & JFinley means that those two will likely be keys to my success/failure. I was determined to roster the QB/WR combos and the three runners. Really wanted to work in AHernandez and MWallace, may end up being my biggest regret when I look back on it down the line. Boom or bust.
