*** Official 2013 Seattle Seahawks **** (1 Viewer)

Interesting situation for the Seahawks. If they tank next week they can force Carolina/SF/Arizona all to play meaningful games in week 17 and maybe even NO. If NO beats Car and Ari wins, Carolina is on the outside needing help. I got to think Seattle would rather play Ari over Car. Even if they prefer Car over SF in the playoffs, tanking to Ari is the best way to accomplish this. If Sea beats Ari, week 17 won't be as important.

Making week 17 uninteresting for Seattle sounds just fine to me. If they win against ARI they lock up the #1 seed and that is far more important than being concerned about who we will play--no need to try to game it to get a more favorable matchup.

Remember when the collective was making fun of Seahawks fans who were pointing out that there were some good backups, and that this secondary would still be very good even without two of their top 3 corners?

Remember how everyone said the only reason we were saying that is because we were a bunch of dumb bandwagon jumping homers, and there's no way we had 5 CB's who could start for most NFL teams?

I don't actually remember who was saying that, because they've been so quiet lately.
I posted in the Saints-Seahawks thread that I believed Maxwell could be a starter on any other NFL team and I was called a "homer" ##### Seahawk fan. I truly don't think the rest of the NFL knows what they are in store for in the upcoming weeks. Seattle, barring some huge injury is going to be the Super Bowl 48 Winner.

3 picks in 3 games, and bleacher report saying he's a future star, suddenly we don't look so deluded

He was targeted 5 times. 3 of them hit the dirt, he caught two of them.

Saints lost yesterday. Seattle already has it locked up.

Care to wager on that? I'll let you chose five players that if they don't play in a game Seattle loses cancels the bet.

Not true. SF can still win the NFC West if we drop both of our next two games (due to division record). And if that happens and both the Saints (or Carolina instead) and SF win out the NFC South winner will take the #1 seed.

Still need one win or one SF loss/tie.

Correct. The Seahawks can only be the #1 or the #5 seed

BTW, another bs penalty on Kam for hitting "in the head" despite rocking the shoulder. Expect no fine.
I heard Belichick say in an interview last week that he thinks replay should be expanded to ALL plays including penalties. I tend to agree. Many of these plays just happen to fast in real time for refs to be able to make accurate calls 100% of the time. It could go along way to fixing the giant mistakes, especially on long pass interference plays.

Wow, I stand corrected.

I guess pigs can grow wings and Romo can win in Dec too.

Seattle is going to play the next two games hard. I will try to find the link but I read PC does not believe in resting players before the playoffs. I think Maxwell played himself into the starting job, and WTIII covers the slot...what do others think?

I think we roll anybody in the playoffs, but me personally would rather not see CAR or Chi.

I think the only two teams with a shot would be SF and CAR. You guys hang 50 on Chicago.

There's nothing to support anything but utter failure by Kaep up in Seattle. I'm not one to call it a lock, but in two games up there, while the Niners were rolling, they got humiliated. Carolina is the team to worry about, IMO.

Excerpt from Peter King's MMQB:

We all can see Seattle is a terrific defensive team, but the offensive consistency, even without Percy Harvin, is something to behold. The Seahawks have outrushed the opposition by 500 yards exactly, and out-passed foes by 550 yards. Aside from the road loss at the Niners last week, Seattle’s consistently the best team in football, and it’s not close for second. San Francisco’s the second-best team, I just don’t think it’s going to be that close if they meet in Seattle in the playoffs.

GB is not out of it yet and with a healthy Rodgers I think they can hang with Seattle in Seattle.

Not really sure about that. I'd rank them below SF and NO in terms of "fear". That said, nothing I'm saying about preferred opponents is meant to imply that I'm predicting decisive wins or unstoppability. Just crunching the available data.

Bye bye Browner.

NFL suspended Seahawks RCB Brandon Browner indefinitely for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
23 days ago, ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL.com's Mike Silver both reported Browner was facing a lengthy suspension. Browner appealed the ban. FOX Sports then reported Browner turned down an offer to reduce his suspension from a one-year ban to early October 2014. Browner is clearly facing a lengthy suspension and will have to stay out of trouble and keep his nose clean in order to be reinstated. For now, he's certainly done for the rest of the 2013 season. Browner will be a free agent in March and turns 30 in August. His Seattle days are over, while some believe his NFL career may also be done.

I think Lynch would rush for 150+ on GB.

Crap. I would rush for 150+ yards against GB.

Chicago? UMPH? They can't stop the run. We would destroy them with ball control ala Lynch.

Any given Sunday...

Bottom line, some team is going to need to get VERY LUCKY to beat Seattle in Seattle with a playoff atmosphere. It could happen, but it shouldn't. Seattle is truly the best team in the league and when you combine that with the best homefield advantage in sports, Seattle should be playing in February.

Hate to defend them but, Seahawk fans started it, and they are donating rest of the money to Seattle's Children's Hospital.

I don't mind the billboard and the donation is great, but at least get it right and put it in Seattle.

They weren't even Seattle based fans, or even Washington. They're from down here in Southern California. However you feel about the rivalry (which we've been told doesn't exist of course ) between the two fan bases, here's an awesome side effect: With the leftover money from their fundraiser the fans have been donating it to Children's Hospitals. Now they're skipping the billboards and signs and are competing with each other (even though SF has tons of rings and doesn't care about Seattle at all) to see who can donate more straight to the hospitals. There'll be plenty of classless back and forth from both sides in this emerging fan rivalry (if there actually was one, which there isn't) but I think it's fun, college style hi jinks, but I can't think of anyone who could say something negative about this.

I don't know how Seahawks fans stay in those game threads for days, bunch of trolls then when any of us says anything we're the worst fans on the board. Terrible. Even when the Seahawks win it's basically a constant defense because they have never won a championship, because the Saints won a championship four years ago and that still means something somehow, or because the Seahawks beat the Panthers on the road but it was the first game of the season so that win doesn't count. lol Now you know why I don't post here that much.

Today they were very vanilla and I hated the playcalling. On the first and goal you go pass on first or second down, not on third. I think that was the game, had they scored there they would have won by ten. I don't mind the defensive penalties, they are part of the scheme and identity because aggressive defenses are going to get flags. The offensive penalties today, not so much. Arizona is the #1 rush D so you have to go misdirection, screens and get to the edges. They didn't do a lot of that, and it seemed Wilson was not as aggressive in reading the D and then taking off. Not having a big weapon on the outside hurts against defenses like the Cards, 49ers or Rams.

I don't think next week is a given either, Rams have maybe the best front seven in the NFL and the offense has to respond. I do think they took today's game for granted to a degree, and I don't think you can do that against the Cards who I think might be the third best team in the NFC, and currently on fire. You can't just show up because you are at home expecting to win, and I think they relaxed some today like they did vs the Bucs. But the Cards aren't the Bucs, the Cards are a legit team.

If they win next week the first team they play in Seattle in January is going to be a team that can win a road playoff game, so maybe today they learned something about themselves that will help them.

Agree with this, particularly the second paragraph. I was thinking this would be a sort of homecoming for Michael Robinson on screen passes today, or maybe some wheel routes off of the blitz to the RB's. Make them pay for being aggressive and get guys in space. Some pistol would have been a nice way to mix it up as well, with a few designed sprint outs on the option.

The playcalling was lacking and Russell definitely held onto the ball, or passed it, when he could have run for many yards.

So what does ITS have to say about the Seahawks losing. He said Arizona couldn't win today.
Do you really care? He'll just ignore the facts when he's wrong and yell from the top of the mountain when he's right.

I'm quite enjoying the reasonable discussion and analysis from these Seahawks' fans. I think they are on point with what they are saying for the most part. I tend to the think the Seahawks aren't quite as good as most Hawk's fans think, but I don't think my team (the Broncos) are quite as good as most think, either.

I think both teams are primed for a playoff loss and this is another year when one or two unexpected teams get to the Super Bowl and win it. I think it's bad for the NFC if the Cards beat the Niners next week, though the Niners could be a force as well. I still think Seattle's the favorite, just not by as much as many think. In the AFC I think Denver wins if they play to their potential - the problem is they don't oftentimes. They could lose to any playoff team easily, especially now that Von Miller may be out.

Wilson's a star, though. I could see him doing something in the playoffs this year that starts to cement his legacy as a big game QB. He just seems to have "it".

His game manager QB can't come back in a game to save his life. If they didn't have a stellar D, he would be pick city trying to win games.
I don't think ITS would say that, especially since his game manager QB has already done it nine times in under two seasons.
Yeah, that moron is just fishing.

NFC West Champs and #1 seed/HFA!

Gonna be tough for anyone to come to SEA and win. NO probably the most frightening, but we know what happed earlier this year when they strolled through town.

49ers easily the biggest threat IMO, and the Eagles are a sneaky team also. I'd guess we get the 49ers or Saints in two weeks, one of those two will win next week. I understand the recent history against these two teams in Seattle, but I definitely don't take either for granted...especially the 49ers.

Great regular season, this is exactly where they wanted to be. Now to do something about it.

Whoever makes it to the Super Bowl from the NFC will definitely earn it. Packers, 49ers, Saints, Panthers and likely the Eagles- there are no patsies in that group. Packers, Saints and Eagles all have the offense to outpace the Hawks if the defense falters and the 49ers and Panthers can play the Hawks' game of tough defense and opportunistic offense.

Hawks were on the road last year and 1 play away from the conference championship with a rookie QB, they had a fine season last year.

Now they're a better team with HFA where they are very difficult to beat (15-1 the last 2 seasons). Do you disagree? I didn't say they can't lose.

I don't disagree. They're a tough team this year. It's all good.
