**Official 2014 MLB Regular Season-All over but the shouting (1 Viewer)

It doesn't matter, and I know baseball players and fans enjoy unwritten rules, but it seems pretty silly not to just allow pine tar.

Seems like a better alternative for MLB than the stupid Pineda story stealing the news cycle from Pujols hitting 500 and possibly the greatest pitching battle in MLB history that happened 24 hours early.
Say what?

Obviously debatable, but what Fernandez and Wood did had never been done before.

Under what qualifying terms?

I saw something to the effect of.....

Since 1900, the most combined Ks, by starting pitchers, without a walk.

Opposing SP's both getting: 8+ IP, 1 or fewer ER, 10+ Ks, 0 BBs.

I think the total K's with no BBs for the starting SP's combined and for the entire game as well.

Obviously I know it's not the "greatest" or most important because the "greatest" or most important anything can't happen in April. But a great April story that got swallowed up by where some pitcher placed the substance 80% of pitchers use.

No doubt it was impressive and you are dead-on about the Pineda debacle. Just thought that original claim was a little hyperbolic.

I get carried away sometimes.

Baseballs worst rule is dead

Starting Friday night, umpires will rule on catches the way they did in the past, using more of a common-sense approach rather than following the letter of the law, according to major-league sources.

A catch, forceout or tag will be considered legal if a fielder has control of the ball in his glove, but drops the ball after opening his glove to transfer the ball to his throwing hard, sources said. No longer will the fielder be required to successfully get the ball into his throwing hand.

Thank god.

I understand why they did this (to make instant replay reviews more black and white) but it really was a dumb change.

Did the Astros really bean Lowrie because he bunted against the shift in the first inning of a 7-0 game?

I love this game, but there really is a 2-year old mentality in the way some of these idiots deal with things.

Rodney is a disaster. I think his WHIP is now 8.

But hey, AT LEAST HIS F###ING HAT IS COMPLETELY SIDEWAYS!!!

Disgrace to the game.

Brandon Morrow with a studly 8/1 K/BB ratio in just 2.2 innings of work today. Wait, I meant a perfectly unstudly 1/8 K/BB ratio. <_<

Fact via Olney

Pablo Sandoval who is seeking a $100 million contract, is now 0-42 on the season when he has two strikes on him. This includes 20ks.

Damn.

I nominate Mark Ellis as the worst-hitting non-pitcher currently in the major leagues.
Definitely in the team picture.

If you look closely, that's Colby Rasmus standing right behind Carlos Santana
I nominate Freddy Galvis for President. Going 1 for 27 on the season for a lusty .037 and playing in his 5th straight game.
He just struck out looking with the bases loaded and no outs. :lmao:
 Takes concentration to hit .033.
