**Official 2014 MLB Regular Season-All over but the shouting (2 Viewers)

Saberheads dislike Springer because of his high swing and miss rate. But advanced stats miss guys all the time, Springer is one of those IMO. Guy is a tank, hits the ball like a ####### caveman.

Historically, I think stats :nerd: liked three-true-outcomes guys more than the general public. Two of the outcomes are positive and the third is better than a GIDP.

I think the jury is still out on Springer. His SO% and HR/FB numbers are extreme and hard to sustain. Very few player strike out over a third of the time. I suspect he's talented enough to dial that back a bit but he's in trouble if it slides a few percentage points in the wrong direction. His HR/FB numbers are on par with Chris Davis, Adam Dunn and Mark Reynolds during their best power years. Some regression from Springer's small MLB sample is got to be expected.

I have decided to purchase two tickets to the futures game and celebrity softball game this Sunday and take my son because even though he's only 4 this is something I should take him to and also I can't afford tickets to anything more fun on all-star weekend ($25 for this, HR derby $156, AS Game $300, Fanfest sounds like torture) especially when I can't guarantee more than 2 hours before he wants to go home - loudly.

Don't pretend you don't care.

I think Tre should whack Andrew Zimmern and take his place. Who would notice.

Remember when Bryce Harper hit 3 homers in that double A game?
Most over rated player in all of baseball
Sigh.

He has a career slash of .270/.350/.468 and he's still so young that on his recent rehab assignment he was the youngest player on the AA roster and the second-youngest on the High A roster.

Harper's problem is Trout. Casual/Yankee fans don't realize how special Trout is, so they think Harper's no good because he's nowhere near the level of his peer. Trout is a Baseball God. We're seeing one of the five or so best players in the history of the game.

RIGHT NOW he is not good. He gets drafted in the top two rounds in fantasy drafts yet is barely roster worthy each year. RIGHT NOW he is EXTREMELY over rated.

You mean this season? Correct. He's had an absolutely terrible season. A thumb injury has sapped his power and the long DL stint that resulted has disrupted his timing, plus now he's wearing an oven mitt on the basepaths which makes it hard to steal bases. If I were you I'd buy low, but who knows. I'm a homer, maybe his struggles will continue.

If you mean to date, that's ridiculous. He put up 22 HR, 18 steals and a .340 OBP in his first season (missed almost a month) and 20 HR, 11 steals and a .368 OBP in his second season (missed over a quarter of the season). The only way that's barely roster worthy is if you play in a three team league.

Ive owned him this year and last year in a keeper league. Except for April last year he has been downright unrosterworthy. Im not sure how else to put it

Does your league not have a DL? Those were pretty good numbers last year for just 120 games. Only way numbers like that aren't worth keeping on your roster is if you couldn't swap him out for a replacement or something.

As for this year, you have my sympathy. I've watched almost every PA, it has been downright ugly. If it's any consolation I don't know a single person who thinks his 2014 numbers to date are anywhere near what he'll give you for the next couple years.

Last year he finished as the #47 OF in my league. Now thats obviously not taking into account all the time he missed but it also ignores the fact that the majority of his good stats came in only one month. I play in a weekly H2H league so Ill admit he may have been unrosterworthy in that type of format. But he still hasnt been anything more than an OF3.

Please note, I am only talking fantasy purposes and I realize how young he is. I am NOT saying that he will suck forever. Just that he has been a horrible disappointment the last two years at least for me. And he has been VERY over rated in fantasy circles so far.

I gotcha. I first thought you were talking real baseball, then regular rotisserie. H2H fantasy, I can see why he'd be driving you insane.

I think he's pretty aptly rated as of last season. High ceiling but injury prone. There's no question he generally produces when he plays.

So I'm thinking of starting a subscription website where Shady give in-depth analysis on fantasy players and MAC shares his super-stealthy streamer pickups the day after they pitch.

Masahiro Tanaka Has Torn Ulnar Collateral Ligament

Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 12m

Yankees GM Brian Cashman says Masahiro Tanaka has a small tear in his UCL. Will have PRP injection. Yankees hope he's back in six weeks.

Any prior examples of that working? That really doesn't sound like a great idea. :oldunsure:
Passan said Wainwright pitched with a small UCL tear for 5 years before it finally popped, but I doubt that's normal.

edit: more importantly how'd you get the old unsure guy back? :kicksrock:

Kole Calhoun has a single, double, and a triple in the first three innings.

Colby Lewis, who was once compared to Max Scherzer here at FBG, gives up 11 runs and 13 hits in 2.33 innings. He did have a K though for the guy who picked him up in my 16 team league.

I really did get it back. When they switched boards that one was left off and I protested, went straight to the top.
