I think the young guys have performed well, which is really what this season is all about. Still don't think a legit NFL qb will be found in the next draft, which is what our future banks upon.
Yeah because there are a lot of guys out there who would be doing better than Jay right now. You guys are nuts. Half of the team has been out for most of the season and the majority of the starters are brand new and we're still in every game. After the debacle that was last year, you would think fans would be happy with the progress the team has made in such a short time with so many injuries and different players. Sheesh. Everyone knew what we were looking at from the beginning of the season and they have far exceeded what I or anyone else expected.
See there's where we see things differently.
I see a team that bottomed out last year, but they didn't bite the bullet and go with the full rebuild. Cutler isn't everything that's wrong in Chicago, but he's a big part of it, the most expensive part of it, and the symbol for it in Chicago. He doesn't make his receivers better, he doesn't protect the football, and I don't have proof, but I doubt he's any good at reading defenses or checking into advantageous plays. Chicago has known this for years, yet never seriously got a QB to challenge him. Even after bottoming out last year and knowing a full rebuild was on, they kept him.
So we fans get to keep watching the same old Jay Cutler. The one that sprinkles brilliant throws along with stupid repetitive mistakes that give the ball away like candy. Is anyone really excited anymore when he drops back? For every 1.12 TD's he throws he has 1 turnover. He's crippled this team for years and he continues to do so.
Hell people in here are whining about Fox passing on FG opportunity. On a 1st and 10 play Cutler threw a pick that gave Denver the ball on the Chicago 25. On another 1st and 10 at the Denver 33 (just inside Gould's FG range) Cutler decided to take a nap in the pocket and gave the ball away again. People are whining about the play call on the 2pt attempt. Cutler changed the play at the line on that as well. Did he correctly read the defense and check into the correct call?
I'm not saying there's currently a better QB available than Cutler, but IMO that's not really what's needed. They simply need anyone else but Cutler. IMO it's far easier to watch a true rebuilding team go 2-14 knowing that they're improving than watching a half ### rebuild go 6-10 knowing that the most important role on the team is still fundamentally flawed and a self limiting factor. The worst thing that could happen is the Bears somehow win 6 or 7 games this year and roll into next year with Cutler on the roster. I'm sure that's a nightmare for Fox, potentially being added to the list of coaches/coordinators that Cutler got fired.
By the way, be thankful for the pathetic AFC West. Without them the Bears would have only 1 win.
