Cooks is one of those guys that has great perceived value on these boards, but not sure it translates to most leagues

Doesn't Matter. We are 5 months away from the season. Value can be flipped pre-season for better assets than those given. Especially knowing the 1.1 is an appreciable asset. Jordy certainly isn't.

yeah, I thought the italics made it obvious that I was joking
but looking at it objectively, the 1.11 probably equals Bridgewater. Making it Mason and 2.12 for Charles and a 4th. I don't like Mason all that much, so I don't think this is close.

you not liking mason does not mean other do not so to me it is in favor of mason but it is close.
in dynasty 21 yo second year guy with a starting job and upside is very appealing to me.
Charles has a starting job and isn't coming off the field on 3rd down
I mean maybe Mason is going to be great....but Charles is great.
For the guy not 5 minutes ago said value doesn't score points this is an odd stance to take for one of the best point producing RB available.

Translate or not, 1.01 > Nelson. Any value Cooks brings (and it is pretty high) is free and can be converted to another player or pick.
I don't get the Bridgewater = 1.11 that seems to be going around. I'd much prefer the 1.11.
I'd take Charles over Mason as well. The 2.12 for the 4.11 doesn't make up the difference for me.

Really? I can't be the only one that wouldn't trade Bridgewater for the 1.09+.
I think hes the real deal.
Yeah in most of my leagues I think there would be some question whether Cooks is very much less than the 1.01 judging from the responses I have gotten in trade negotiations.
In a PPR startup 16 teams he went 2 picks (2.05) before the 1.01(2.07) and 1 pick after Nelson(2.04)

I would take pick 1 over Jordy in a 1 PPR. In a 0.5 PPR I would take that #1 pick even MORE.amicsta said:

No, but value allows you to get more of the players that you want, and pick 1/Cooks will get you better players than Jordy in most leagues, and if not, I still prefer the pick and cooks.
Jordy MIGHT be better for your team right now than the pick and Cooks, but it wont take long for that to change

Agreed. Looking at startup value this is the #17 player for the #22 and #25. Should have been able to get a better receiver, say DT, for those two.

I totally get where you guys are going on value. And I'm not going to waste too much time defending a losing position, but if you are going to overpay there are much worse options than Jordy, especially for a contender. He delivers stellar production.

The draft is a risk. U never know how these deals will work out but I decided to go for it. I hated giving up Gurley/Gordon though.

I've no problem with overpaying as long as your conscious of doing it and you have your reasons, if you can gain a bunch of value in other deals you can give some back to get someone you really want but people saying Jordy over Cooks and 1.01 as if Jordy is better value gets my goat!

because jordy is only 29 and is aaron rodgers #1 wr and coming off a 300+ point season in standard ppr. wrs have a much longer shelf life in dynasty. brandon cooks is coming off an injury that ended his season is under sized and who knows how it shakes out in new orleans. if they draft a wr that guy in time could surpass cooks as the top option. with no graham to hog targets brees is gonna distribute the ball all around. 1.1? I remember many top end picks who busted.
so how can i take a proven stud wr with the best qb and coming off an elite seasonw ith no sign of slowing down over an unproven wr who is undersized much like tavon austin and a top end lottery ticket who is not proven? actually pretty easy.

Are you ignoring people when they respond or just missing it? Even if you prefer Jordy, in many or even most leagues, Cooks + 1.01 is probably enough to tempt the Dez or Julio or Antonio Brown owner. I'm pretty low on Cooks too, but many think he'll be a strong WR2, overvalue his youth, and similarly are already anointing Gurley as an RB1. I'd trade Jordy for any of those three stud WRs easily. Would you?

I think Jordy is vastly under-rated for some reason but the value is clearly on the other side of the deal. I'm not necessarily saying that someone in contention would be unwise to overpay, but saying he's worth whatever the guy who owns him wants is shortsighted.VarsityBlues123 said:

I view AJ and Odell as pretty much a dead heat, so any extra value you get is great, and you did get more value coming back.
I am not real high on Carr even in Superflex. It's nice to get a QB, but I don't view him having great longevity or any QB1 upside. He is still a QB though, so it gets you closer to swapping for a midrange QB you do like, if you're like me and you don't care for Carr.
High, very high. More and more are viewing him as the #1 Overall player in PPR dynasty.

Yeah, this is about how I felt. Already had Ben and Tannehill, but Carr was a great QB3 still on the board. I ended up sending Carr to a QB needy team for the rookie 1.07 and a later start up pick. I can use it on a slightly lower end QB3 (at least 2-3 of Dalton, Foles, Bortles, Alex Smith, etc, will still be on the board when it comes up) or a decent RB2 or WR3.

Team A Gets:
Bortles 3 years/$1
Golden Tate 1/$1.50
Keenan Allen 2/$18
Team B Gets:
Sammie Coates 4/$.25
Justin Hunter 2/$1.25
Basically a salary dump for team B, Bortles is very cheap by league standards. Allen's contract is horrible. Probably comes down to what you think of Coates.
Team A Gets:
Bortles 3 years/$1
Golden Tate 1/$1.50

Team B Gets:
Sammie Coates 4/$.25
Justin Hunter 2/$1.25
Basically a salary dump for team B, Bortles is very cheap by league standards. Allen's contract is horrible. Probably comes down to what you think of Coates.

Looks like Jordy Nelson might be the most overvalued player in dynasty right now. And he isn't 29, he is 30. 30 when the season starts, so he is 30. No idea how it can be looked at any other way. What, does his value go down on his 30th birthday, meaning you value him more right now?? i sure hope not. That's just silly.
Cooks, based on his ADP, can probably be traded for a top 3 pick.

Either can be traded straight up for a really good and valuable player.

Let me re-focus this a touch on Cooks. Would you pay a top 3 pick for him? I would not. Secondly and different but sort of relevant, I am also not the type of trader who acquires guys like Cooks for the sole purpose of working the phones enough to flip him for other value. I pick my spots and go for certain players I want. I maybe losing out some value in the long run but that is how I operate.

I mean, I see where you're coming from, but look at some of the trades that have been posted here. 1.04 straight up for DT, 1.01 + James Jones for Demarco Murray + Allen Hurns, 1.10 + 2.10 for Lynch, 1.04 + Knile Davis for Jeremy Hill + Gio Bernard, and on and on. I just firmly believe there's a ton of value left on the table if you give up 1.01 + Cooks for Jordy. Keep in mind there are lots of people who would give you 1.03 or 1.04 for Cooks, if not more (I've seen people say he's worth the 1.01, which is crazy, haha).
So here are some of the other kinds of deals you could conceivably get by trading away Jordy for that: DT + Hill + Gio, DT + Murray, DT + Lynch + something, Lynch + Hill + Gio + something, etc etc. I totally understand someone preferring Jordy to Cooks + 1.01 when it comes to who they want to start week in and week out. But at some point, you have to take value when it comes your way. The 1.01 is only going to get more valuable as the draft approaches and people get rookie fever. I personally think they'll be overvaluing it, but I will take advantage of that overvaluation when I can!
