*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (2 Viewers)

Ok so teams that for sure will be below us:

Miami
Baltimore
Cleveland
Jacksonville

Tennessee
San Diego
NYG
Dallas

Chicago
San Fran

So we are automatically out of the top 10.

If Raiders lose, they're tied with us. They beat us on strength of schedule so we need them to win to jump them.

Lions are tied with us regardless. We beat them on SOS. We are above them.
Saints are tied with us regardless. They beat us on SOS. They are above us.
If Bucs win, they are tied with us, but they beat us on SOS. They're above us win or lose.
If Rams lose they are tied with us. We beat them on SOS though. If they win they're better then us. Regardless, we are ahead of them.

Looks like the Raiders game is the only thing that chances things for us.

We pick 13th or 14th unless I calculated that wrong. 13th if Raiders win.

Doesn't the Lions pounding us head to head factor in?

Strength of schedule is the ONLY tie breaker involved in draft order.

Have to love the clowns putting articles out there after Murray's run that he showed Chip....maybe they should have such around for the other 11 carries for 15 yards and the fumble. Hope that guy has some professional pride and decides to work this offseason.

Chicago and NYG are the only 2 teams that jumped us in draft order based on our win today. Raiders and Bucs are the other two that could potentially be different. Our win today costed us 2, 3, or 4 draft picks depending on what happens in the Raiders and Bucs games.

I think the Bucs and Raiders both lose today though. In which case we pick 14th (as opposed to 11th had we lost today). It likely costs us 3 picks.

Agreed. But how many of those 11 carries were from under center? I feel like they kind of abandoned that. I would guess only like 4 carries from under center today, one of them being the long run. But I can't remember.

I only followed online couldn't tell you. I did read even last year the majority of his carries were from shotgun but a decent amount of under center mixed in. Shotgun is part of it but he needs to put on his big boy pants.

One silver lining is that Chip's draft board was so limited because he nixed so many players based on culture and scheme. This made draft positioning hugely important. Assuming the next coach is more flexible, three spots shouldn't be as big a difference for us as it was under Chip.

This is a very good point.

I'm actually glad we won to be honest. If we have comptant people who can draft we should be fine.

But name ONE advantage to not having Eli throw a TD on the last play of the game?

I don't know that there is one. Maybe having a future bust ranked higher than a guy you'd pick later who would be awesome?

That's all I got :lmao:

From the game thread:

Draft O line and D. Switch to 4-3

Keep Bradford

Some really nice pieces to work with on O and who doesn't get excited about Cox and Hicks?

Ya know lads? Maybe it ain't looking all bad?

And the point about Der Fuhrer having a limited draft board makes me feel better as well.

haha. I do like that the offense looked decent, but would have loved to lose on the last play of the game. In no way shape or form is a trip to seattle any better then a trip to london to play st. louis. And a week 8 bye. And only 7 games in opponent' stadiums. The 3 draft spots isn't as bad as I expected though.

J. Kelce on Bradford: "If we can retain a guy like that, that would be huge for our ballclub, regardless of who the head coach is." #Eagles

2016 Schedule:

Home: DAL, WAS, NYG, GB, MIN, CLE, PIT, ATL

Away: DAL, WAS, NYG, CHI, DET, BAL, CIN, SEA
Wow, that looks brutal besides our horrid division.
Detroit won't be bad. Especially if Calvin retires tomorrow.
Huh? Is that really a thing?
Apparently yes. I don't wanna look like a tool if I'm wrong but I have a source that works for the lions that says its happening tomorrow. Hasn't leaked anywhere, maybe he's messing with me.

Yeah. 5 of 10 non-division games vs. playoff squads. But entire division gets NFCN and AFCN, so GB/MIN/CIN/PIT on everyone's schedule. At least we get 3 of those 4 at home.
Well it looks like for the 7th straight year there won't be a wildcard winner from the NFC EAST. Really, we just have to win the div. Wash is in tough with Arizona and Carolina on their schedule, but they should still be good. Dallas could bounce back for sure. NYG in rebuild mode but they do have ODB. Next year could be fairly similar to this year except every team around 8-8.

Some Bradford/Shurmur love post-game:

"I think the quarterback-head coach relationship is extremely important in any organization," Bradford said after the game, "and obviously, given the history I have with [shurmur], we were together my rookie year and kind of reunited this year, I think it would mean a lot to me [to have Shurmur as a head coach].

"I would love to play for him, and I really enjoyed playing for him today. Obviously, if he is a candidate, I hope he gets serious consideration.

Shurmur said he was impressed with what he saw from Bradford, but he wasn't surprised.

"I think what you're seeing from him in the second half of the year is more of what you can expect," Shurmur said of his quarterback, who in the final seven games of the season completed 67.9 percent of his passes, threw for nearly 2,000 yards, and tossed 10 touchdowns to four interceptions.

Bradford, for his part, was overtly complimentary of his former-and-current head coach.

"[shurmur] wasn't in an easy position today," Bradford said. "I think, what he did this week, the way he led this football team, was remarkable, really. Because I don't think anyone wants to be put in that position, but he did a great job. I think he called a great game today. I think the guys really bought into him this week.

Am warming up to him as HC, but still don't want him. Really want to keep him as OC. And if we get a defensive coach in, he'll have even more input running this offense which could be good. He seemed to learn a lot of the good stuff Chip had to offer, but doesn't have the bad qualities (stubbornness, tough to work with, etc.) that may or may not have been present with Chip.

ANY chance he gets HC consideration elsewhere if we just try to keep him as OC? I'd assume not but not sure.

Tough to get excited for that unless you are really hitching your wagon to Bradford for the next 5+ years. Never been wowed by Shurmur...did he really do much while here as it was essentially all Chip's O? Before that STL? Meh.

Zach Ertz's 450 yards the last four games are the most in NFL history by a tight end the last four games of a season. Gronk had 399 in 2011.

No, the majority of his carries last year were not out of shotgun. He had like 35 out of the gun last year.

Holy. He's going to be a force next year. Fantasy and real life.
Now that Chip is gone, we can FINALLY see what Ertz can do. How can you draft a guy this freaking talented and not find ways to get him involved especially with a WR cotps this bad?!

Fanatic reporting that Gase is coming in for an interview this week.
He must be impressive but his Bears and Cutler have not. 2 TD 3 INT day for Jay....woo-hoo.
He's checked out, meaningless game. He got Cutler to have his best season of his 10 year career. Peyton had his best season in 17 seasons under him too. He could work wonders for Bradford. Keep Shurmur as OC so Sam signs a new deal and we have some consistency, get a new D coordinator, draft defense and Oline, and roll to a 9-7 division title.

It was a significant amount either way, no excuse for 700 yard season.

He had 36 out of 392. Not really a significant percentage.

Not trying to say that Murray was good this year, just saying that it's not like he had a real track record out of the gun.
