*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (2 Viewers)

Best in game memories:

Wilbert Montgomery's long TD run in the NFC championship game in '81.

Mike Quick's 99 yd TD to win it in OT vs Falcons.

Randall's play against Carl Banks, happened right in front of me. The most amazing play I've ever witnessed.

Montana's 4 4th quarter TDs to beat a great defense.

The double 4th and 1 stops on the Cowgirls own 29 yd line. Switzer was a clown.
This game came in 1989, a week after Randall Cunningham signed a huge new contract and threw for over 400 yards and 5 TD's in Washington to beat the Redskins and go 2-0 early in the season. The Eagles were up 21-10 in the 4th against the defending SB champs and I thought, the Eagles have arrived, they are the best in the NFL. Then Montana went off, the 49ers won, and ended up repeating as SB Champs. Ironically, Montana ended up with over 400 yards and 5 TD's like Cunningham had the week before. One of the most crushing losses in Eagles history.
I was at that SF game and only like 11, so it just seemed like a sucky day to me, but in retrospect I wish that I could have appreciated Montana's greatness more.

Here's a question: Why is it that it has been 5 weeks since the draft, and they schedule the league rookie symposium right at the beginning of OTA's which causes rookies to miss valuable time with their team? Why can't they schedule the Symposium before OTA's start? Makes no sense.

Pretty good question, but I would assume that it has to do with CBA rules and what dates/how many days that the league and teams can require them to work. It does seem like it would be a fairly easy thing to work out, especially since rookie interests are probably the easiest thing for the union to give up.

Lesean McCoy: Still talking about Chip Kelly

Desean Jackson: Misses OTA's for "Personal Business" but seen at NBA playoff game.

Man, it sucks not having their talent on the Eagles, but not some of the baggage that comes with them.

Exactly. Washington goes 4-12 last year but DJax can't be bothered with the opening OTAs and seems to lie about the reason. McCoy, what a coward - now he's done talking about the Eagles.

"Did you just hear what I just said? So why did you ... I told, I'm not talking no more about Chip Kelly or the Eagles. I'm done with that. You can ask me about the Bills, we look good, a lot of players stepping up, the quarterbacks look wonderful. Myself, I'm playing well, along with the guys in the backfield. Just trying to get this team going. I have nothing else to say about Chip or the Eagles."

Shoulda taken that approach a couple months ago and he wouldn't look like such a db now.

I remember going to a preseason game against the Bills and one big dude wore a giants jersey thinking why not I guess. He was about 300+ but he got his aas kicked by 150lb dudes.

When did they play the Bills in the preseason? Not saying they didn't but I don't remember it.

During the Linc era. Wasn't Vet. Was just adding to the fighting lore.
Not surprising that the game rather than the fight brought the doubt.

There's also that rule that the NFL can require nothing of rookies until they graduate/finish their school semester, so the symposium has to occur after ALL colleges let out.

So yeah......it actually does make sense. Perhaps OTA's should be scheduled around the symposium instead...THAT would make sense.

But Chip can openly criticize last years first round pick? It's just entertainment

Coward is exactly the word I used when I heard the clip. Any respect I had for McCoy has gone out the window. If anyone deserves being thrown into the NFL equivalent of Siberia, it's him.

I really wish one of the reporters would have pushed the envelope a bit more calling him out, but they don't want to burn any bridges I guess.

Did he criticize his first round pick or call him racist? Bit of a difference. Plus I think Chip has plenty to back up his criticism. One is definitely not equal to the other here.

That explains Malcolm Jenkins openly criticizing the coaching last season, saying they weren't prepared on game day. I didn't know they made a coaching change, but Jenkins comments make more sense now.http://www.csnphilly.com/football-philadelphia-eagles/malcolm-jenkins-biggest-move-eagles-secondary-was-coaching-change-john-lovett-cory-undlin

@EliotShorrParks: Easier to make opinions on QBs during OTAs as opposed to other positions, but Matt Barkley might be one the most improved player on #Eagles

@LRiddickESPN: Two others standing out big time thus far in off-season work...rookie 1st rounder WR Nelson Agholor and vet DB Walter Thurmond. #makingplays

I know its almost impossible, but is there ANY chance we keep 4 qbs? Like even a very long shot if one is used in special circumstances or for 2 point attempts only?

No and no. Tebow versus Barkley and the best one gets the job.

So, any chance they cut Mathis? I gotta imagine he'll show up to the mandatory camp so as to not get fined, but who knows.... Have a bad feeling we're going to end up trading him for a 7th or some garbage pick, really would prefer we keep the OL depth this year. You want to get rid of him, draft someone next year.

I can't imagine he would want to be cut and would probably be on his best behavior once its mandatory. He wont see 5 million again if he's cut IMO

@LRiddickESPN: Just watched #Eagles OTA's. Demarco Murray gets the headlines, but Ryan Mathews looks VERY good. And they like him. A lot.
is 600 rush attempts a possibility? What is the record?
I dunno, but for fantasy purposes I think there is a ton of value in Mathews. It's insulated by the perception that Murray gets a big lion's share of the carries. Of course that's not in question, but if they seriously approach a R/A number like 600 total, Mathews has to see what, 150 or so attempts? That's great value in this offense for an early 8th round pick in 12-team standard leagues as of right now, and I have to imagine that creeps up over the summer. Sky is the limit if something happens to Murray.

Last year, Sproles was the MVP for the first 6 games or so. So Mathews definitely has value... if he stays healthy.

great info, thanks. Don't think 681 is going to happen, but it's going to be a ton this year. Really hope Mathis stays. I know he is aging and not part of our future plans, but with running the ball this much, we really need every ounce of oline talent we can get.

Sproles was so fun to watch last year. I wonder what his role will be now that we have Mathews here. Even when he took the ball as a regular rb, he was fun to watch, and there won't be many of those opportunities this year.

Haven't they been saying all offseason that Sproles role won't change?

I doubt sproles is going to get 60 carries out of the backfield this year.

I don't. They had 474 carries last year. I think Kelly wants at least 525 and try to push 550.

Murray 275

Mathews 175

Sproles 75

last years 474 was including over 50 carries by QBs. So if they up the 474 to 550 it could be:

Murray 275

Mathews 175

Sproles 50

QBs/Other: 50

And if they only hit 525, and assuming qb's/other players run for 50 attempts (last year was 59), if sproles hits 75, that means only 400 carries for murray+mathews which is way too low.
