*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (4 Viewers)

I think the part I like the least is signing Murray. Lots of $$ tied up there. Trading McCoy for Alonso was great - but that $$ could have been spent on Maclin, or OL (Iupati), on anything else really. Matthews, Sproles, and Polk would have been fine.

Since I posted the Schlereth piece, I thought it would make sense to also post this rebuttal from another forum.

On another subject, Mark Schlereth is completely full of **** when he say we man block on the front side. I will say that Barbre abandoned the double team too early on two consecutive plays and if that's what he's basing it on, well okay. Nonetheless, our OL blocking scheme is based on double teams at the point of attack, not man blocking. I've said that since Chip got here. Chip has said it, and so has Stoutland.

I make no secret of my antipathy for Schlereth. He was the Conrad Dobler of his time, a really dirty player. Really dirty. Never met a cut block or dive on the back of the legs or a hit an engaged defender low that he didn't like. Alex Gibbs loved him, as did Mike Shanahan. Hate 'em all.

watching this Monday night game, and i'm baffled at where this Cary Williams was last year. he is keeping everyone in front of him and playing pretty well.

Totally different systems. He gets help underneath and over the top every play it seems
Yep. Seems like we put too much on our CB's in this system, and ask them to 1v1 against top CB's too often.

I gave Davis the benefit of the doubt but he's too often made the dumbest mistakes without any adjustments. We have a good defense but they could be great with the right coordinater.

Makes me think we need a new D Coordinator.

Top-10 in sacks, picks and fumbles. I don't think so. Better cb would be much easier to find(or keep imo).

Does it matter? Unless we have Revis of 3 years ago, no CB can do what this defense asks of him.

So is there any hope at all for the running backs. I'm thinking of dumping Demarco and Matthews for Woodhead in a dynasty. I just don't see how this one improves. And even if it does, so what? It's going to be impossible to tell who is going to get the rock in games with any kind of accuracy.

Your guess is as good as ours. I thought Chip was going to run it 500+ times this year. So far he has like 40 carries in 4 games? So what do I know.

When you throw away that much guaranteed yea

The offense was on the field for like 18 minutes. There's is nothing to take away from the Was game to me in terms of touch counts

I think that this last game may be a (late) wake up call to Chip. I expect them to actually run the ball and not go away from it after 3-4 carries. I also expect them to bring blitz and pressure Brees. I expect Chip to go for it on 4th a few times. I expect him to go for 2 PAT more than once. I expect them to not pull their foot off the gas if/when they have a lead into the fourth quarter. All the reasons we were excited that Chip would be coaching this team are the things he's gotten away from, for whatever reason. That has got to change immediately.

In the end I still think this team is far better than its record, but only because I still believe in Chip and his process. This team is still learning to play together and while that's a frustrating reality, it IS the reality.

We could win it but this team gives me no confidence they will. Give me the better qb. Bet Brees lights us up and we lose. More of us playing 1 or 2 good series of offense and 10 3 and outs. That's my gut feeling.

Like i said before we have played 3 good qtrs of offense in 4 games. Think about that.

Not that we are bad, but with all this talent could we be better? Just been skeptical about him since the signing, wasn't his background with bad Browns team?

Wow. 37 points. That would be awesome. Would love to see the offense finally wake up.

I think we get rolling and he piles it on to shut everybody up. In my mind there is no one on earth that would relish the ability to say, "told you so", than Chip Kelly.

I agree with that 100%. He'd hang 50 on them if he could. Trouble is, I've seen three real good offensive quarters all year. Out of 16. God, I hope you're right. That would take the line improving a boatload in one week. If that could happen, everything else would start to gel.

I'm going to remain positive, but with slightly less optimism that we can get the offense completely on track.

I can think of one person

I know something like 4 0-3 teams have ever made playoffs, but anyone know if any 1-4 teams have ever made it?
The 1993 Oilers (with Buddy Ryan as DC) won 11 straight games after going 1-4 to make the playoffs. They then lost to Joe Montana and the Chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs 28-20. This was the year after the Oilers blew the

35-3 lead to the Bills in the playoffs.

STOP BEING SO DAMN NEGATIVE!!!

;)

haha. I think we win, just wondering how "MUST WIN" this is. Every week, to every team, people are almost saying how much of a "must win" this is. Last week was for us, but really it didn't put us TOTALLY out. If we lose this week that might be it though. Starting to look like The Giants may win 9 games. Man, I hate the giants and even more so The Bills for losing that game.

Wow, good memory, thanks. You also must have been very excited to talk about both your teams in one post! haha

But yes they are that bad. 27th against the run, 19th against the pass.
Let's hope Kelce throws an O line meeting and these guys play pissed off and trying to run block like they did vs The Jets. This, combined with Chip focusing more on the run could mean a big big day for our rbs.

the bad news is Peters, Johnson and Babre all sat out today - lets hope they are feeling better by the weekend

What are the chances Chip throws an "Invincible" invitation out to the Philly people? Gotta be a few heavy guys somewhere in the city with some high school OL experience.

this division is up there with the worst in the league right now. Its shaping up like the NFC south of last year.
Yup. No doubt. With Washington being average as usual, the Cowboys going through their injuries, and the Eagles new personnel not gelling, the NFC East will be won by the first team that can get their sh!t together and play decent football.

I'd have to say the Giants are favorites at this point. They are healthy and experienced.

Depending one what sportsbook you use, I found the odds to be almost dead even between NY, PHI, and DAL to win the NFC EAST. Dallas is a touch lower on some though but its close. The Giants Monday Nighter is gonna be huge.

Giants look to me to be the best right now. Eli has so much experience over Bradford, Cousins, and Weeden that it's not even funny. I think Philly has the best chance of the four to keep improving. But whether it's New York or Philly, they better have to have a nice lead before Romo and Bryant get back. Or else, the Eagles' improvement better be dramatic.

I moved to Houston in 1992, so I was here for that season. The Oilers were never really my team. Only when the Texans started in 2002 did I start to cheer for the local team (in addition to the Eagles)

My system spit out Eagles 24-30. But not with enough confidence to place a wager.

Also showing signs for Agholor to potentially get lose vs NO secondary based on the trends.
