The 1993 Oilers (with Buddy Ryan as DC) won 11 straight games after going 1-4 to make the playoffs. They then lost to Joe Montana and the Chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs 28-20. This was the year after the Oilers blew the

35-3 lead to the Bills in the playoffs.

A loss to the Saints this week and we might as well go into 76er's tank mode.

Too bad Mariota came out last year. Is there an Orlando Pace or Jonathan Ogden in next year's draft we can start to get excited about with our top 3 pick?

Yeah, I agree. Unless the rest of the NFC East also loses, I think a loss this week will finally convince me that we have no shot at this division.

You were talking about Cousins? He's a journeyman type under a best case scenario, but I don't think you ever watched Russell or Gabbert play. There weren't many worse QBs in the history of the NFL.

Only their lowlights on Sportscenter.......I was going off what was said on ESPN radio, not sure but I think they were basing it off TD/INT ratio through however many games Cuz is worse than those two.

We can't lose over the next two weeks. Can't lose to Eli in another div game. We can't lose to NO while other in the div go 3-2. We're either watching Chip's SuperBowl or his funeral. Win both games and we likely top the division.

BOy, how much difference would Mariota make for this team right now, even as a rookie?

I think onf (of the several) big fails in this transformed team is that Chip significantly underestimated the effectiveness that having DJAX's speed COMBINED with mobility at the QB position and RB position made.

When they had mobility and DJAX could stretch those sides out, it was like walking through canyons with the running lanes. Easy to see now but I don't think they can get that back. Effectiveness will have to take on another form.

While I do agree and have mentioned the advantage of having a QB who is a threat to run, the offensive line was much much better back then, also. Having Desean on this team right now wouldn't make much difference unless the line starts playing better. Deep routes take a bit of time to develop. By the time Jackson would beat his guy and be open deep, Bradford will have been swallowed up by three defenders. If Chip screwed anything up, it was underestimating the importance of a strong offensive line. That extra second or two can make a huge difference on pass plays. Especially with a QB that may not be 100% comfortable in the pocket yet due to past injuries. I think eventually, Agholar or even Huff could be that deep threat.

I'm not sure the line was markedly better or different back then. I think it may have had a lot to do with the fact that Vick and Shady and DJAX put so much stress and spread things out so much HORIZONTALLY that it helped make everything click.

YOu;;re right. As a receiver, DJAX isn't the magic pill for this team. But he and Sproles and a mobile Bradford or Foles could really put some pressure and open up some lanes DeMarco and Ryan. It's a subtle thing and just my opinion but I think they miss that a lot more than is ever talked about.

The Saints generally look good at home, and terrible on the road. For whatever reason, they really don't travel well and are an average team AT BEST.

I feel like we really don't know what the Eagles are right now, but in the end I can't see them being worse than average...and if forced to bet I'd bet on the average team playing at home over the average team tha plays poorly on the road...on the road.

I'm absolutely sure that the line was better and different back then. The guards are new and Peters is on the down slope of his career.

Don't think there's much doubt that this is the worst PERFORMING line we've seen in a LONG time.

Sometimes you can't do anything about it when you're just plain bad, but if Peters and Lane play this week, I see the line playing their hearts out. I hope Kelce had a good long talk with them all. Wishful thinking anyways.

 
Injury report out. Thin at ILB, but otherwise looking to be in good shape. The Saints OLine is looking very beat up for this week.

Tackle Jason Peters told reporters following Thursday's practice that he will play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints despite a quadricep injury that hindered him last week against Washington.

"I feel good," Peters said. "I'm getting ready for Sunday."

According to the injury report released on Friday afternoon, however, Peters is officially listed as questionable, the only Eagle with that designation. Only three players are offically out for Sunday's game, as Kiko Alonso (knee), Brandon Bair (groin) and Mychal Kendricks (hamstring) will be the only players not suiting up.

The good news for the Eagles is that Lane Johnson (knee), Allen Barbre (groin), Cedric Thornton (hand) and Byron Maxwell (quadricep) are all officially listed as probable, as are Chris Maragos (quadricep) and Taylor Hart (shoulder). Maxwell was injured during the first series against Washington and did not return, while Johnson suffered a knee injury on an extra-point attempt but fought through the pain to stay on the field.

Rookie Andrus Peat Could Make First Start

Saints left tackle Terron Armstead missed practice for the second straight day on Thursday due to a knee injury suffered in Sunday night's win over Dallas.

If Armstead is unable to play, first-round pick Andrus Peat will make his first career start at left tackle.

Armstead isn't the only Saint on the injury report. Starting left guard Tim Lelito was added on Thursday after not participating in practice due to a back injury.

The other starting guard, Jahri Evans, was limited with a knee injury.

Punter Thomas Morstead did not practice with a right quadricep injury.

Two key starters on defense - safety Jairus Byrd (knee) and cornerback Keenan Lewis (hip) - were limited.

Three other Saints were on the injury report as full participants: Wide receivers Marques Colston (not injury related) and Brandin Cooks (ankle), and defensive tackle Kevin Williams (not injury related).

 
In the preseason Peat was the 2nd coming of Antone Davis. Human turnstile, bust of the draft level performance.
