Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (1 Viewer)

Can anyone else picture Cruz alone in an apartment somewhere, smearing lipstick sloppily over his face, wearing heels and a dress, dancing slowly as Chris Issac plays in the background, while mascara runs from his tears and he stabs a doll slowly but with purpose, muttering things like, "You're not so pretty now, are you, Mr. Wiggles? Who's the belle of the ball, now, Mr. WIGGLES?"

Well,if you weren't before...

Paul remains the only one I would consider voting for but he has no shot winning this. His hits on Trump,NSA,ISIS and foreign policy were spot on and he made good arguments to back them up,something that Trump has no clue how to do.

Can't wait for the Democratic clown car to pull up next but I already know I already won't be voting for any of them with only Sanders as a possibility but much like Paul he really has no shot.

Just go away Christie...

“When I stand across from King Hussein of Jordan, I say to him you have a friend sir who will stand with you to fight this fight,” Christie said during Tuesday's Republican primary debate, making the case that the president is not trusted by the leaders of Jordan and Saudi Arabia because of the nuclear deal with Iran.

King Abdullah II is the current, living king of Jordan.

Trump anywhere in government would be a massive embarrassment to the American people. Akin to electing Jessie the Body in Minnesota, difference being nobody really cares about Minnesota.
"I ain't got time to bleed" would have been the greatest campaign slogan ever.
And I would vote for The Body 100x out of 100 over Trump. At least he'd actually be able to kick Putin's ###.

The GOP went back at it and like a good family Christmas get together, it got nasty. We still believe there are way too many candidates which has the effect of cheapening the event and also making it feel like a Royal Rumble which catapults it into must watch.

Let's go one by one

Kasich.

This dude speaks like he is simultaneously signing to a deaf audience. His hand motions are so distracting that he just comes across as a complete mental patient which is a shame since he might be the only one who is not

Carson

Like Herman Cain and Howard Dean and Mike Huckabee, he had his 15 minutes and now the gig is up. Nobody believes he is nearly versed enough in the issues to have a shot and unlike Trump he has absolutely no bravado to hide his lack of knowledge. Plus he pronounces Wolf like Woof which was distracting

Fiorina

Never before has somebody with so little experience tried to give off the impression of having so much. I was the leader of a (failing) tech company, I had breast cancer, I have lost every election I have stood for and I buried a child so that makes me keenly qualified to be a president. If she wasn't a woman, people would destroy her for her lack of knowledge and experience. Plus that cross around her neck made her look like Flava Flav. We get it, you love Christ but Jesus that thing had more bling than a Trump casino

Christie

Big Chris acts like he is a front runner and lectures from what he believes is the bully pulpit but the truth is that every time he leans on that lectern it looks like it was going to crack. Let's just hope big Mike Huck didn't have the same one in the undercard

And he is just a fatter Rudy Giuliani

Rand Paul

He actually makes sense. I have no idea how or why or when it happened but whenever he speaks, he makes a valid point. Then you look up and see who it is and think that you can't wait for Trump to shove this turd in his locker.

Jeb

When Trump shoves Rand into the locker he'll find Jeb there already. It is mystifying that Jeb is so inept at this, he actually makes W seem competent. His attacks on Trump really don't do anything but allow Trump to come back and pummel him. Even if he nails one (which admittedly he did) Trump comes back and pulls away his chair as he is about to sit down. Jeb supporters are the loneliest group in the world (https://mobile.twitter.com/mateagold/status/676946951854825472) kind of like those guys that hang outside of a movie theater for three weeks to see Star Wars only to see a 6'4" Biff show up with the Star Wars nerd's sister and gets a better seat. But the seat isn't just better it happens to be right in front of the Star Wars nerd meaning he is staring at the back of his head as Biff makes out with the poor guy's sister but worse than that you just know he Biff doesn't have the faintest idea the chronology of Boba Fett

Rubio

He didn't go to his "my dad was a bartender and my mother was a maid" thing which was a step up but he is just such a disingenuous politician who has sold his soul to the devil for this opportunity (and a smoking hot wife). His ears are still way too distracting and somebody please get him a glass of water. He was coughing up a storm.

Cruz

I am borrowing this from a smarter person than I am but it fits

Can anyone else picture Cruz alone in an apartment somewhere, smearing lipstick sloppily over his face, wearing heels and a dress, dancing slowly as Chris Issac plays in the background, while mascara runs from his tears and he stabs a doll slowly but with purpose, muttering things like, "You're not so pretty now, are you, Mr. Wiggles? Well,if you weren't before...

Trump

I just don't know what to say, he just wins. He knows nothing about the actual situations, he is lost on the nuance, he is lazy when it comes to facts and he yells and screams louder than anybody. I still believe he went into this to get some publicity and then surprised everybody (including himself) that people took to his message. He never had plans to be the president but now it looks like he might have a chance to.

So the big winner last night was....Hillary Clinton

So what's the inside story with the Cruz/Trump bosom buddy schtick? I could see Trump pulling out of the race and he and Cruz having a side agreement he would throw his support toward Ted. Like Trump was either bought outright by some right wing group to GTFO or he realizes he doesn't have real policy chips at all were he to actually go up against Hillary.

Facts...

Trump's prized businesses are getting hammered. His golf course was removed from consideration for British Open for example. That's gonna hurt his pride.

Cruz leaned into Trump's positions a bit last night while providing the slimy political coating that makes them palatable-ish and broader to sell.

They steadfastly refused to fight. Cruz went hard after Rubio (who is #3 right behind him). It benefits Cruz to avoid hitting Trump but it absolutely does not benefit Trump to avoid hitting Cruz IF Trumo actually wants the nomination.

Trump said he wouldn't run 3rd party. That alone is enough to make his 'supporters' EXTREMELY valuable should he not get the nomination.

:lmao: @ anyone who thinks things will be vastly different with Trump/Cruz/Clinton/Sanders/Rubio as POTUS
If a Democrat is in the White House for the next Supreme Court vacancy or two - although I fully (as in 100%) expect the GOP to refuse to confirm anyone to replace any of the conservatives who retire or pass away and go with a SCOTUS below the nine-justice membership - that will transform the country for decades. So, yeah, it's fairly important.

Rubio and Paul were the runaway winners last night. Along with Hillary.

Jeb is terrible, but he did land a few haymakers on Trump. When anyone refutes something that Trump has said, he has a look on his face like a 13 year-old girl being yelled at by her mom for not cleaning her bedroom. He doesn't have the maturity for this and he's way too thin-skinned. It was cute for a while, but he really should bow out now. He's doing serious damage to the GOP.

Fiorina is very unlikeable. Has RBF and just comes off as a very bitter woman.

I would like it if Rubio had been a winner but I want impressed with him last night.

I don't know what it is about Jeb but nothing works for him. Maybe it's the glasses, or that pained smile he always wears- he just looks so miserable being there.

Clearly. He and Paul were the only ones who looked composed enough to handle a job as big as President. The only two that any other foreign leaders would even take seriously.

Rand Paul IMO makes the most sense. "Don't get involved in other countries civil wars and by god do not arm groups from that region"...The problem is that doesn't sit well with the lets go kill everybody Republican way.

I believe he said essentially the same thing last night when he was referring to the $4 trillion spent doing that and that money would have been better spent domestically.

Good morning guys. We recorded a podcast last night and if you have a few minutes and like politics it would be great if you could give it a listen. We are trying to get our numbers up so we can get on I-tunes and our initial unique clicks are low. All comments and criticism is welcome and appreciated, you can post them in this thread. I know we had an issue with the audio levels right in the beginning with the music and that was my fault. Here's the podcast, thanks guys:

Trump/Graham 2016. That's the ticket. One wants to make America great again and spend $ on us. The other want to kill everyone else and spend lots of money doing so. Plus they hate each other passionately.

I hope we eventually get to see Graham in a debate with Trump. I think Graham could be effective at taking on Trump (at least relative to many of the others on the main stage).

He just hasn't been a great candidate. He looks the part and has the pedigree but he runs into problems as soon as he opens his mouth. His strategy shifts always come off forced and transparent.

The reality is Trump destroyed him early on, cut his legs right out with the low energy comment that Bush had no answer for. Bush does have a calm demeanor, i don't believe he's low energy. If he was able to articulate the difference at the moment of that first Trump attack he wouldn't be in this position. He's not a fire and brimstone guy and he's not the over the top tough guy they tried to make him look like last night. He's the measured problem solver who thinks first and listens before coming to a position. If he had successfully parried the low energy attack by instead proclaiming himself a cool customer who uses reason over emotion to find solution (i.e. the opposite of Trump), he'd be in a much better position in the race. Instead his personality changes debate to debate and he comes off desperate. He got, and continues to get, bad advice.

another few notes about the debate

Kasich

was the only one who wore a navy suit who wasn't wearing a red tie.. wonder if this was done deliberately to show he can show that he may bring balance to the force

Carson

also did not wear a red tie, but had on a pinstripe suit

Forina

looks like a pear in her red dress

Trump

never buttons his jackets and wears his tie about 2 inches lower than what anybody else does

Christie

Nothing looks more pained than that button on Christie's jacket.. he's the perfect compliment to Forina's pear.

Cruz

just looks like a sleazy car salesman, his suit is just off enough to make you think that he just lost a bunch of weight or he took his brother's suit or he got it at a garage sale one day while the Senate was in sequester

Rubio

the guy just looks like he fell out of a GQ ad, picked up a hot cheerleader and won the homecoming king award eventhough he is secretly despised by everybody

Bush

his suit just looks too tight. like he thinks he should be a slim fit when he's actually a standard one.. that can't be comfortable standing like that all night

Rand

When Trump shoves him into his locker, he'll probably also rip his size 38 small suit which will really piss off the little turd

What is going to happen to all of Jeb's Super PAC money? He raised over $100 million and he's got nothing to show for it. Can he give it to another candidate or does he have to go full "Dukakis After Dark" and spend it all on one big party at the end of the convention?

I think Trump was saying that he would like our home grown internet security guys(Brother just graduated with an internet security degree, class of 6) to infiltrate the ISIS network or figure out where and how they communicate and then dismantle that or use the info to try and stay 1 step ahead or just kill their ability to communicate. Trump may not explain it correctly but if you could peer in his head past all the nonsense I think you would find most folks would agree or think he has a good idea.

He wants America on the offense and better passing of news by the President. Let's be honest, Obama has not been straight with folks about what is truly happening. We might be closer to world war with Russia than some would like to imagine. OK, world war too extreme, how about a return to the Cold War because it is starting to feel like that.

Does anyone really think that the US government hasn't been trying to hack ISIS since day one?

Great question, tend to agree with the way you are presenting it. The problem is Obama seems to skirt around a lot of details. It may be happening but we sure don't hear or see much of it. I personally do not trust the people up top, left or right makes no difference. If you trust the governement more power to you, in fact I'm jealous and wish I could follow suit...but I don't.

If it's happening and Trump puts his foot in his mouth I'm sure MSNBC and CNN will let us know on speed dial.

That's not a problem, it's a benefit. I don't want my president announcing to the enemy that we're trying to infiltrate their network.

Isn't the independent group Anonymous working on this? I haven't heard if they have had any success.

:lmao:

Why won't my president give me details about how they are trying to hack into ISIS innerwebs!
We just would like a scoreboard report at the end of the 1st and 3rd quarter, is that too much for everyone? Again, you can smell the elitism from the Left appearing here. Many of you put an awful lot of faith and assume things are happening that we really have no proof one way or the other.

Trump talks up winning, that's what he is talking about. How about Obama get on TV and say we destroyed this and this, we have done this and that...c'mon it's hard to even get Obama to say the word terrorism, "don't get cocky kid."
