Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (3 Viewers)

Republicans are funny people.

In 2008, one of the biggest complaints about Obama was that he doesn't have enough experience, and then they immediately nominated a person for VP who had even less experience.

Republicans always decry celebrities and how much they hate celebrity and now they are going to nominate the biggest TV celebrity they can find.
They are? Really? Did you shake the Magic 8 ball and it told you this? Seems like you're jumping the gun here.

And no one really cares about the VP.

Ok, you got me, I should have said the biggest celebrity they can find is so far dominating the field.

And everyone cared about Palin. Hell she is still living off her SuperPAC and the money it still brings in from people who donate money to her.

I thought Bobby Jindal was an anchor baby. Am I mistaken?
Jindal is an anchor baby, but his parents got student visas so that somehow makes it OK.
Wow. he's a ####
Jindal, Rubio, and Cruz would would not be eligible to run for president if our forefathers had enacted the very same policies that they are currently advocating.
All 3 were born to parents of illegal immigrants?

Scott Walker, whom I predicted would be the GOP nominee a few months back, has been way too weak a candidate thus far. Yesterday he refused to say whether the 14th Amendment protected birthright citizenship.

He's just not ready for this.

Mike Huckabee says a 10 year old girl who was raped by her stepfather should be forced to carry her baby to term.

I have actually been quite surprised that Walker has been so anonymous so far. I thought he was going to be a clear frontrunner....looks like I'm wrong.

I don't see why that is controversial. It should be the norm with pro-lifers because its the consistent position if you believe that human life starts at conception.

You can believe that human life starts at conception and still be pro-choice, especially in such extreme situations.

People aren't buying bland so far. That may change if/when the campaign gets more serious. His best chance is still to do well in neighboring Iowa and ride that momentum to clear out his competition in the drab wing of the party.

Sure, but what many people seem to mean when they say "human life starts at conception" is something more like "embryos are just as valuable and deserving of life as teenagers." I think it's hard to sign on to a rape exception if that's what you think.

Lou Dobbs has a real GOP clown on. He's asked what has the republican house and senate accomplished to date. The idiot side stepped every which way as if he was Michael Jackson in his heyday. Dobbs must have asked him 5 times.

Some of it went like this:

Dobbs: To date what has the house and senate accomplished since taking control?'

Clown: 'It's hard to undo the what has been done'

Dobbs: 'That's not what I asked. I asked what have they accomplished?'

Clown: 'Great things are coming' or something like that.

Idiots like this are what hold back your party.

"You're a very strong person. And though this would be a traumatic experience that you would never forget, I think that you would be very successful in life." -- Dan Quayle, telling an 11-year old girl why he would want her to have the baby if she were raped by her father.

Born leaders right here

SCOTT WALKER, statement

"Americans are struggling to cope with the fall in today's markets driven in part by China's slowing economy and the fact that they actively manipulate their economy. Rather than honoring Chinese President Xi Jinping with an official state visit next month, President Obama should focus on holding China accountable over its increasing attempts to undermine U.S. interests. ... President Obama needs to cancel the state visit. There's serious work to be done rather than pomp and circumstance. We need to see some backbone from President Obama on U.S.-China relations."

Asked later how a Walker administration would resolve disagreements with the Chinese government without face-to-face meetings, he offered no specifics. "You have to start dealing with your staff and calling that out and send a strong message to China that there is different leadership," Walker said.

I kind of feel sorry for these guys. They literally have no clue how to stand out from the pack.

Jeb Bush...(paraphrasing) "oh, I didn't mean to insult the Hispanics, I meant to insult Asians"

The guy is major dolt...

:lmao: I really thought that Jeb was going to end up winning the GOP nomination -- in large part because I think he has the Republican establishment behind him and a huge fundraising advantage, but also because I assumed that he would be the most polished politician in the GOP field. But man, he certainly seems far from polished with these easily avoidable gaffes in response to predictable questions. He was referring to Asian, not Hispanic, anchor babies? GTFO. How dumb does he think the American public is? I guess he knows that they elected his older brother twice.

Jesus. No wonder Trump is leading. It's really a shame Republicans are such a mess right now. They're pushing away a lot of level headed supporters.
You know what would be awesome? If Trump wins and at the end of it all is considered to be a great president. I don't think that is the case, but it would be the most amazing political thing in a long time.

I don't get why that's so controversial. He's clearly talking about the fetus from a pro-life perspective. Not the most eloquent way of saying something along the lines of "We don't hate women, we just hate abortion" - but not crazy if you're pro-life.

This whole election is going to be terrible.

"We're not at war with women, we're at war with their uteruses".

Doesn't sound any better to me.

No, he's saying the other side (pro-Choice) is waging the war. And I'm pretty sure you know that.
