Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (1 Viewer)

posted this earlier today

There has not been a presidential candidate that I have been more wrong about than one Scott Walker.... I loved Walker's chances at the Republican nomination when he announced his run but could not be less impressed with him after months on the campaign trail and two snoozefest performances at the debates.. Maybe it was the fact that I only knew about him and hadn't actually seen him in action but good god this guy looks out of his league and his latest poll numbers are in the George Pataki and Bobby Jindal range which basically means he should be voted off the island.

but since this probably our last chance to look at Walker before he bows out...

what bothers us about Walker are the following
- the guy looks like he could be standing on a sidewalk corner in a rain-jacket and no pants on.. there is something just weirdly creepy about him
- that haircut is just not presidential, you can't have a guy who has a bald spot that looks like it's growing at the rate the Arctic ice is receding
- he looks like he has that terrible old guy deep-stomach breath.. like he hasn't flossed in a year things
- his entire asymmetrical face is very distracting.. his one eye is just way too high on his forehead and the other looks like it sits in his cheekbone.. Now Scott, this is coming from somebody with the same weird face affliction and it sucks but you gotta stop showing your face in public, you look like Sloth

But if it's true, Republicans are...crazy.
You are still mistaking support for Trump as support for the man himself.
Its the man himself that's gonna be elected if this continues.
True. And like I said before...it has more to do with what he represents than who he is.

I asked in this thread or the other before. What do you want people who are pissed off to do?

Write their Congressman?

Send in a fax?

Continue voting for the lesser of two evils?

People want change and are fed up with their government. Short of assassinating members of Congress...what do you want people to do?

Yeah, Walker dropping out is sorta surprising. This election cycle is likely to have lots of twists and turns, seems like the possibility still exists that his campaign could have done something. Unlike Perry, who was clearly going nowhere and was right to drop out.

I expect that all of the Walker support will move to Pataki, doubling Pataki's total to 0%

I want them to go away.

I think all of the "kids table" debaters should drop out. No one is selling books, angling for a Fox show, or improving their national standing.

Who?

The guy ran before and got 1%.

What does my voting for a guy who isn't going to win or has any chance in hell of winning do or accomplish?

Absolutely nothing. It is a principled vote and I respect it. But, it will not change the current system.

Okay. Well, I am one of these people and I am not going away. And your answer really isn't an answer.

So, when you figure out an alternative solution for people who want to burn the ####### system down and start over, let me know. Until then, enjoy people gravitating to Trump.

Didn't even make it as far as he did in college before dropping out.
huh? I'm not even sure your post makes any sense. How do you measure that?

And is that a hint of elitism I sense?
Attending college is elitism?
Attending college is not. Making fun of those who don't is. Since, y'know, most people don't have a college degree.
But he did attend. Think the "making fun of" part came for his droppout status.

I'm only being honest with you SIDA. I don't want to have to reckon with people who want to burn the ####### system down. I like the system. It's not perfect but any problems can be solved by working within the system.

So what should the people like you who want to burn it down do? #### if I know. I just need to find a way to help make sure you don't win.

Lot of people drop out for various reasons. Maybe it's not for them, maybe they didn't have enough money, maybe they're sick...who knows and who cares.

Know of anyone else that dropped out of college?

Now you are on the proper gist.

So now understand its his numerous "dropouts", not just singular, that gave it a dash a humor.

And the true humor (if there was any) was with the quickness that he dropped out of this race, and not with his college timing.

That is fine and great.

So, why do you continue to think it is "crazy" that a significant portion of this country believe their government and its politicians are worthless and that they feel they have no option but to go "outside" the system?

I don't mind you having your opinions. I just don't know why you continue to feign shock, surprise or confusion about who is supporting Trump and why.

id rather be able to look myself in the mirror because I voted for someone who I actually wanted to win, rather than for a self-absorbed, xenophobic ######## who thinks that insulting people is campaigning. It will do nothing to "fix" the system. It will make it worse.
