Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (2 Viewers)

Who the hell has this sort of time or desire to "expose" things like this?!?! No wonder this country is in the state it's in
Who the hell has the sort of time or desire to investigate and report on this story to begin with?

Armchair foreign policy specialists are indeed the most stubborn bunch. So set in what they believe that they can not even stop for a second to think that perhaps they have less than full information. And that the very things they espouse as the correct way to handle things would just as likely #### things up even more
I say nuke those armchair foreign policy specialists!!!

@ddale8: Donald Trump: "Remember the expression, 'Merry Christmas'? You don't hear it anymore. You're going to hear it if I'm elected." Applause.

:lmao: I think he's doing an Andy Kaufman thing actually.

I feel it's really time for the Republican party to split in half. The establishment R's, who, while being conservative, are willing to do the hard work to govern a country with 50% constituents who disagree with them and on the other side the Tea Party mega conservative nutjobs.
Nothing would elate me more to see the tea party relegated to a powerless, irrelevant third party. Yeah, it would probably cause some short term pain to the Republican Party but it's something they need to do for their long term survival. I would entertain the thought of voting with them or joining them if it would happen.

Marco Rubio Moved To Tears By Pope’s Mention of Immigrantslol no thanks on Rubio.

In 2012, Rubio worked on his own version of a DREAM amnesty bill, which would extend birthright citizenship to foreign youths illegally residing in the country.

In 2013, Rubio co-authored and ushered through the Senate an immigration bill—praised by La Raza, President Obama and the Chamber of Commerce— that would have admitted 33 million new immigrants in the course of a single

decade.

In 2015, Rubio introduced a bill that would essentially lift the university green card caps and triple the number of guest workers admitted on H-1B visas to replace American workers at lower costs.

And just this month, Rubio announced his support for importing even more Muslim refugees into the country, whom experts say we will not be able to be vetted.

So what your saying is, despite his incessant scary warmongering, Rubio is a good guy. I agree. This stuff is almost enough to make me vote for him.

What I am saying is if someone like you is willing to vote for him that is proof he isn't someone republicans should be voting for.

I said almost. I'm not willing to vote for him, because he's too much of a warmonger.

That being said, forcing a litmus test on the subject of illegal immigration is going to destroy the existing Republican party. I gather that's what you want, but I predict it will not achieve the electoral results you think it will.

''If it's a majority of people in that area who want it to fly, I certainly wouldn't take it down."

Ben Carson on the confederate flag getting a pseudoendorsement from Richard Petty.

A majority of people in an area wanted it.

A war was fought.

That side lost.

In attempting to refute the Big Bang, for example—which he characterized as a “ridiculous” idea—Carson said:

You have all these highfalutin scientists, and they’re saying that there was this gigantic explosion and everything came into perfect order. Now, these are the same scientists who go around touting the second law of thermodynamics, which is entropy, which says that things move toward a state of disorganization. So, now you’re going to have this big explosion, and everything becomes perfectly organized. When you ask them about it, they say, “Well we can explain this based on probability theory, because if there’s enough big explosions, over a long enough period of time, billions and billions of years, one of them will be the perfect explosion”…. What you’re telling me is, if I blow a hurricane through a junkyard enough times, over billions and billions of years, eventually, after one of those hurricanes, there will be a 747 fully loaded and ready to fly.

Admittedly haven't been paying attention to him but I had no idea Carson this nuts.

I'm guessing it's easier to disbelieve evolution if you have no idea what it is.

Carson is a nutcase. I believe the majority of people supporting him have no idea what beliefs he actually has. It boggles the mind that someone who could achieve so much in a field like neurosurgery could be so stupid.

I think to some degree the bolded could be said about Fiorinna and Rubio.

I think most candidates/politicians don't really know what their beliefs are either...

Carson is the biggest beneficiary of Trump. While Trump is spitting out all kinds of ridiculous things and drawing a lot of media attention, I think the average Republican is thinking that they will go with the reserved presumed intellectual former neurosurgeon as some sort of respectable alternative option while overlooking that, in fact, Carson believes some of the craziest stuff of all the GOP candidates.

Keep the fiscal responsibility part and ditch the rest. Establishment Rs love spending money way too much.

Latest poll: Donald Trump still in 1st place. Carson in 2nd. Jeb Bush has fallen off the map.

People (including me) keep predicting that at some point Republicans will come to their senses but it ain't happening. What's it going to take? Have conservatives really become this stupid? Is one of these guys really going to be the candidate?

This can be said about pretty much any candidate. People go with the 30 second soundbytes candidates offer rather than taking the time to observe actions. Actions always speak louder than words.

It's still early. Most normal people haven't even started paying attention yet.

I question the sanity of both sides. IMO the last 7 years have been a dismal epic fail on pretty much all counts. Bush failed to.

This.

I expect i'll end up voting for Rubio assuming Kasich doesn't make it to the Texas primary. That said, I'm in full support of the Donald's candidacy right now. It's at least a little interesting.

It doesn't matter who is paying attention. Barring some scandal, Trump will be the Republican nominee for President of the United States.
