Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (3 Viewers)

Plus, Cruz gets a rub for being the guy that beat Trump. I don't think Cruz fares well in other states. Let's see though. Hard to quantity these statistics without knowing the statistics of who is actually going out and voting.

I think if I have to look at Bill C., a shell of himself, stand behind Hillary chewing on his tongue for 4 years I'll never be the same.

Just unbelievably funny to listen to people spout off on a guy finishing second when he comes nowhere close to mirroring the gop voters of Iowa, didn't have an organization in Iowa, didn't spend any money in Iowa, hasn't run any ads or commercials in Iowa, and never had a shot in Iowa according to the collective political braintrust of FBG, Cnn, fox, msnbc, huffpo, etc.

I think he did garner some media attention from time to time, no?

Maybe you missed every appearance he's ever made on the daily show, his speaking tour, or really anything he says.

He's 70 years old, of course he looks like your grandpa, Ellery Queen.

Sure. But as far as resources expended and return on that investment it was a huge win for him.

Wait till he starts punching the other Cuban in the face.

He dropped close to a half mil on hats.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if both Trump and Cruz go after Rubio hard - with maybe some of the other superpacs piling on.

Trump should be ecstatic to leave 2nd in Iowa. Not sure if you guys just started following politics or trolling...
He should be.

But he messed up by setting unrealistically high expectations given his organization in the state.

So he's not.

meh, he's going to win in a landslide in New Hampshire and Nevada...that's two of the next three primaries. south Carolina is probably a toss up.

At a minimum he is going the distance, and Rubio is the only threat.

So Trump can't even defeat a guy who was born in Canada and looks like the child molester in the back of a bike shop on an episode of Different Strokes? This is beyond awesome.... :lmao:

And he was doing terrific in the polls folks.

Guy lead polls for weeks and he took on water finishing second and having third nip at his heels... gonna struggle with bluster fighting a two front war
It's Iowa dude.
We like winners, ok?

Listen, 2nd place is a loser, 3rd place is a loser, 5th place is a loser. I want someone who is about winning, who is going to make us win so much that we get bored of winning. If i want a loser I'll just vote for Jeb.

A lot of reports about really high turnout and a lot of anecdotal evidence suggesting a lot of first time caucus goers and increase on-site registration.

TrumpTidal warning in full effect.

:bye:

Santorum got a total of 1738 votes. The guy has basically moved into Iowa for the last year and he couldn't even get 2000 votes

If it wasn't obvious before, it has to be today.

It Is Over

Trump coming in second in Iowa means very little. It means more that Cruz still has life - if Cruz lost Iowa, he's done. Trump coming in second is meh.

Ask Huckabee and Santorum what the Iowa steam did for their campaign.
This guy gets it.
Literally.

America cannot be great again when we are ok with losing. We want winners. I like people who win, i like companies that win, and i like candidates that WIN. We've been losing for 8 years, we need to win, and if someone cannot win we don't need them.

You sound just like him

I heard Trump use the word "if" when he said "If we win NH".

Chinks are in the armor. Long way to go. A lot of things can change here in the next few weeks.

We need a strong candidate and I want someone who has a legit shot to beat whomever the socialist party rolls out. So be it if it is Cruz, Rubio....and yes even The Donald. I don't care. I can't take watching those two so called democrats speak anymore.

Simple as that. I simply have decided no freaking way I cross party lines this election. It's too important. We have to make sure we don't allow a fraud (Clinton) and a socialist (Sanders) anywhere near the highest office in the world.

**ck that. No way.

This should be a setback that Trump can overcome, but his whole campaign is based on bullying and being a winner. How will he handle losing?

What if he loses in New Hampshire?

Is he going to ignore this, keep Trumping on about winning and just pretend he did not lose?

Is he going to get mopey?

If he wins in hew hampshire he'll be booming like always, if he loses then what?

Can Trump run an underdog campaign?

i don;t know the answers to any of these. My hunch is he'll be trump today, he'll be winning and just ignore the fact that he is actually lost

the only thing changing is that Trump is going to steamroll the competition in New Hampshire.

It is not good news for the rest of the field that Trump placed second in evangelical/farmer Iowa.

No parenthesis needed.

IMO the sooner he goes away the sooner we can get down into the real business of getting a legit candidate to make sure we don't go deeper into socialism in this great capitalistic country.

When will we be bored with so much winning?
Trump:

Listen, Iowa is for losers anyway, ok?

This is the state that started Obama on the road to the Whitehorse, there is not one good thing in Iowa, literally not one good thing. they had the biggest ever GOP turnout because of me! Cruz and Rubio were able to shake some farmers hands and pull some caucus tricks and get more votes, but I have more support. there would be no Cruz in Iowa if it were not for me. So who needs Iowa, I'll win in states that are winners, and loser states can just continue to lose.

This is a big loss for Trump (thankfully). You could even hear it in his speech. Man, did he get humbled.

Cruz of course comes out with a big win. But winning in Iowa doesn't always turn into a nomination.

Rubio, with his strong 3rd place, actually beat expectations and that really could be the biggest win. Turning that into momentum and heading into NH and SC. (He picked up Tim Scott's endorsement which will add mo in SC for him).

Huckabee out of the race after not being able to get more than 2%. Iowa was his whole game and now game is over. Santorum should follow because Iowa was important to him as well.

Carson a forgotten 4th and Paul a decent 5th.

Kasich, Bush, Fiorina, and Christie all hoping for a strong NH showing to keep hope (and their bids) alive.

I just can't vote for Rubio or Cruz. My state goes Clinton anyway. If Teump is out, I'm voting for Gary once again.

Trump is not going to win. If this were a 2 dog race like the socialists have trump wouldn't be anywhere close to Rubio or Cruz. As soon as Carson drops out, those votes will go to rubio/cruz... as soon as either Rubio or Cruz drop out the other will pick up their votes. As the lesser candidates drop out their voters are going to rubio/cruz. This is just the beginning of the end of the Trump sensation.
