***Official 2016 Presidential Race Thread*** Debate #3 TONIGHT! (1 Viewer)

You realize it's legal for a business to carry forward a tax loss, it's a law? Not illegal, all business can do it? So I assume you are saying if you had a business that lost money and your CPA advised your tax owed was lower the following year you would advise him you would like to pay extra?

You also realize its legal to buy steel from China? Half the items in your house were also made in China, is that illegal?

His returns would show he used legal tax deductions in the best interest of his business and partner but knows the liberal media would run wild with the "effective tax rate" being lower. Depreciation is also legal and used by all real estate investors that leads to lower effective rate.

Her actions could lead to jail time for anyone not named Clinton is a reason emails should be available.......and the ones leaked don't make her look too good so far.
yep.

After watching all of the reactions, the focus groups, the one thing that I am pretty sure of is this: our next President, after Hillary, is going to be an anti-trade President. I wish it wasn't so, but too many Americans blame our trade agreements for our economic problems.
It's the free market at work.  Deal with it.

What's pretty funny about Trump is he lies about literally everything, except when it would help him most. Repudiate Russian hacking? Sure! Accept results of the election? You betcha! These are not difficult calculations. He still has to suck up to his idiot base, when he must know it's costing him this election. I keep coming back to the belief this was never a serious campaign.
describe idiot base.

thank you

My brother is convinced that if Hillary wins churches will be forced to perform gay marriages and it will be illegal to read bible verses in a public park.
As someone who took 30 years to break free from being indoctrinated by Christianity, I would vote for Hillary if I thought she would do this.

What economic problems?  People keep saying this like it's 2008 again or 1931.  Because of the growth?  Might want to look at Japan and Europe, and please don't use India as an example.  That's apples to watermelons.
yes, what economic problems.   pretty sure things are just peachy keen according to the unemployment rate.

Oh and he actually said HIS church would be forced to perform gay marriages.  He goes to this gigantic megachurch.  It looks like a damn college campus.

The people who listen to the things Trump says and think he would be a good president. The freak show that turns up at his rallies. The Breitbart/Infowars/KKK nutjobs. People who believe Hillary is a demon or is dying of AIDS.
Hillary is fine, as far as self serving, money grubbing, lying, self serving, power grabbing women go.

just fine.  I've met worse.

It's 5%, that's actually almost perfect in a market economy that promotes competition to achieve economic gain.  That's ECON 101 right there.
What goes into the unemployment calculation is actually fairly complex.  U6 is a much, much better indication of the health of the employment situation in the US than U3.  To say U3 is "Econ 101" is, frankly, laughable.

No, it really isn't.  U6 is going to be about twice what the u3 rate is, and anything under 10% in a market economy is healthy. HTH

okay,  can you tell me why the numbers don't reflect the actual hurt for workers in this economy that I see?

They don't pay tax and sexual orientation is legally protected, so yes I don't think they have a right to discriminate. Even if they paid taxes, I don't think they have they right, but I'd be willing to let them not do it if they stepped up and started paying taxes.

U6 unemployment at its lowest rate since May of 2008.  In the late 90s/early 2000s when the economy was rolling along, U6 was between 6.8 and 8%.  It's 9.7% now, which is well within the safe zone for an open market.  The jobs and sectors have changed, that's maybe what Irishidiot is referencing.  But the unemployment rate at this point in time is completely fine.  You start getting into the teens or into the 20s like Greece or Spain, then it's a real problem.

we still talking about the same parameters as then?

about 15 to 20% unemployment & maybe more. maybe less because of the jobs they have to go to.  Country wide.

Why, what do you see?
Wait? Did you really just make a number up out of thin air and then ask why the actual statistics don't match it? That's not how economics works. That's not how anything works.

just feels like that is the deal.  probably wrong but I talk to everyone(exaggeration) west of the Mississippi & lots of younger guys are hanging on.

I just figured out why Trump refused to say he would accept the results of the election...because he's terrified he might win! If somehow he ends up winning, he wants the right to challenge the result.

Multivariate, but you see a lot of effects of the ACA involuntarily pushing people to part time.  You see a large effect from real rates of inflation - healthcare, food, insurance, housing, utilities, etc. squeezing a relatively flat earning power of the middle class.  You see an oversupply of lower skilled labor from unfettered immigration driving down salaries and exacerbating wage stagnation.'

None of this has much to do with U3 or U6, but there you go.

Ignoring the fact that we should have been here at least 3 years ago I'd agree.  Current economic policies have ######ed employment growth during this recovery and made this easily the weakest recovery in our modern history.
