***Official 2017 NCAA Hoops Tourney thread: Congrats UNC, all the refs from NCCG should be banned for life*** (1 Viewer)

North Dakota State (I-AA football powerhouse)

South Dakota

South Dakota State

Nebraska-Omaha

crap... there's a couple of small Indiana public schools in it.... I'll go with Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, commonly known as "IUPUI"
University of Denver

I want to say UMKC, but I think that they left for the WAC?

The Jackrabbits must know that the zags have gone quite a few games making 5 3-pointers or less.  They're triple teaming Karnowski and they will until the shots start to fall.

These are situations I'd wager heavily if we weren't behind a computer that you can't name mascots.
From many years living in Minnesota plus some work experience involving knowing a bit about colleges, you would have lost heavily....

NSDU is the Bison, also referred to as the Thundering Herd.  Their football team has beaten some P5 schools in recent years.

(not to be confused with the University of North Dakota, who were the Fighting Sioux for many years until forced to give up their Native American nickname, now the Fighting Hawks)

South Dakota is the Coyotes. Or "Yotes" (one syllable)

South Dakota State is the Jackrabbits.  They've been in the NCAA Tournament before and much fuss has been made of their nickname.

Nebraska-Omaha is the Mavericks.  They used to be in a hockey conference with a bunch of Minnesota schools, North Dakota, Colorado College, Wisconsin... the old WCHA was a great conference before the Big Ten forced it to break up.

IUPUI is the Jaguars.  Amuses me they went with such a straightforward mascot with such an unusual name and lettering for the school.

IPFW is the Mastodons.  Mainly remember that from IPFW's big win over Indiana in OOC play.  The head coach's interview was memorable.

Had an inkling you'd do well here.

Gonzaga fans are pretty obnoxious, but I suppose the same could be said of all schools' fans.  God knows Oregon fan can be pretty dooooshy.

This Gonzaga team is pretty good, though.  But I don't think they would get past Arizona if they meet.

I really wasn't questioning Bruce Dickinson, but any implication that he would not have been aware of and noted UMKC as a member of the Summit League is really disgraceful on my part.

Now back to FC42's important rants.

  Kasey the Kangaroo was adopted as the school mascot back in the 1930s.  The original Kasey was designed and drawn by a local cartoonist named Walt Disney.
I'm still disappointed I couldn't find a hat or T-Shirt (admittedly, I didn't look very hard) while I was out there a couple of summers ago.

What was the final line on Zags/Rabbits?  Zags might be close to covering.  A little more optimistic with the 2nd half play.  Should be a 40 point game.

I am glad I went with no upsets this year.  On my way to a perfect bracket.  Can't wait for my billion dollar check.

There are a TON of Northwestern fans here in SLC.  I think they might outnumber Gonzaga fans.  Will make for a fun Saturday game if they can win.

This has been a fun set of early games. The first two were nailbiters and those going on now are all in doubt. Even the two blowouts had their moments - SDSU gave the Zags a tough 1st half, and Winthrop cut a big Butler lead in half in the 2nd in the space of about 12 seconds (turned out they shot their load doing so).

Kansas will not make it out of the first two rounds. I would not be shocked if they lost tomorrow night.

And I am a Kansas fan.
