***Official 2017 NCAA Hoops Tourney thread: Congrats UNC, all the refs from NCCG should be banned for life*** (2 Viewers)

I am a Michigan grad but this is not a biased statement.  I have had the pleasure of meeting John Beilein twice at different functions.  One was a high school BB coach clinic that my friend invited me to attend with him (I am not a BB coach) because Beilein and Tom Izzo were both there.  Without a doubt one of the classiest men around. Izzo left as fast as possible and looked like he did not want to be there while Beilien stayed over an hour after it was over just talking basketball with the high schools coaches and actually I think he would have stayed longer but there was an event starting in the gym.

Beilien is the anti-dooshbag college coach.  Very happy for him and the team.

Well watch the games that is what usually happens in close games. Teams make mistakes, other teams capitalize on those mistakes.

Oh yeah.  I remember meeting him around '84ish when he spoke to my grade school team.  Yup, no kidding.   He was a friend of our coach and he hung around for our practice and worked with us.  He might have been at Nazareth at that time or somewhere up there IIRC.  I just remember him really getting into our practice and being very generous with his time.

Unfortunate circumstance that Purdue, Michigan and MSU are all in the same regional, or we'd be looking at an all-Big10 final four.

The committee needs to take a hard look at their seeding and bracket building process.  They are way too much into trying to set the table for the upper tier of the perceived big conferences.  The sportswriters need to get taken out of the process too.  Way too much group think going on.

How does that make him a slimeball?

What sports writers are involved in the bracket building process?

It sounds like you're agreeing with him

People really want the opposing coach to bow down to the awesomeness of their victorious team.
Pitino is a slimeball win or lose.

I was thinking the same thing. Most everything else he does makes him a slimeball, but not that.
Pitino being a slimeball had nothing to do with today...  The term"Smileball" just naturally flows out when talking about Pitino. The guy can coach basketball though.

You went on about how classy John Beilein is, and then called Pitino a slimeball and flamed him for something that didn't warrant being criticized over. Maybe you should take a cue from Beilein about class.

As soon as he pump faked the Kentucky player and had him air born all he had to do was jump into him and it was an automatic 3 shots.
In the NBA when the guy with the ball is an All-Star?  maybe.

In the last two seconds of a college game when the defender jumped straight up and kept his arms virtually vertical?  Not a chance.  That was great defense by UK.

And so was Monk's block the possession before.  Perfect timing on the jump, knocked the ball clean, pretty much a clinic on how to block the shot of a taller shooter.

Maybe one day someone can explain to me the physics of how you jump "straight up" and land 18 inches away from where you jumped.
