hmm, Ellington re-signed with Arizona and Burkhead signed with the Pats. I would have liked the Eagles to at least check in with either. I hope they have a plan for RB

I think Pederson much like Reid will upgrade the O-line and allow the O to develop a RB. Westbrook was a 3rd Rd pick and did well. Andy had no problem with Staley and Correll Buckhalter. Pederson went with the Kniles/West/ Charles trio. I highly doubt they go RB early.

I have been on a CB in the 1st for awhile now, but am concerned the Eagles lost Bennie and haven't replaced him yet. Graham has been better, but i would not be dissapointed if they took a DL in the 1st either (DE, DT later in the draft). I think this is key no matter what they do at CB, because if the line can dominate they can ensure QBs won't have a ton of time to do what they want

That's kind of a cop out. They won't last to our spot in the second round. So you either like them or you don't. It's not like fantasy where you only have to wait a couple of picks to choose again.

I personally would not select either and try to get a back in the 3rd.
Then obviously, I don't like them. I thought I made that pretty clear when I said both had too many question marks.

I liked Bennie, but I'm glad they didn't give a stack of money to a guy who plays about 45% of the snaps.

DE is as big a gap on this team as CB.  Graham is a good solid football player who gives a good game every week but he isn't more than a decent pass rusher.  He gets pressure, but doesn't convert that to sacks like an elite rusher does.  That Curry couldn't earn playing time over an obvious scheme mismatch in Barwin was disappointing.  I'd like to see more from him this year but can't say I'm counting on it.

Unless there's a big value elsewhere, I'd like to see a focus through the first 4 or 5 picks on the pass rush and CB.  Not opposed to WR at all, I think Matthews is in his last year here if he doesn't get traded during the draft and we can't assume Jeffrey is here after this year.  We've patched that position, not fixed it.

Mid to late round RB would be good if there's value, even if it's a specialist type guy (SY / RZ, home run guy etc)

Dude where you been.  Welcome back.

DE, CB, RB, WR, OL and LBer

I would be fine with any of those positions at 14 if the players jived with the pick. No crazy surprises.
So pretty much anything haha.  I think if we have needs at that many positions, than unless someone we have on our top 10 list is on the board at 14, then we trade back.  Especially with how deep RB/CB is, picking up that extra 2nd or even 3rd would be HUGE for us.

Seems like there was a market for chase Daniel last year, but no movement since his release (he's gone, right?). Seems like cle/sf should be kicking the tires at least.  While I don't expect a rb early, I don't think the answer at rb is currently on your roster, so it has to come from somewhere. Not even looking at FA. I've assumed Mathews will be gone, but not yet, so what's going on there? Are you guys ok with Mathews sproles Smallwood?

Yeah pretty muck I'll be fine with almost anything as long as its a good player.  That's the main reason why I would be OK with a trade back this year as well.  If we could pick up and extra 2 or 3 we could really use that this year, especially with how deep CB's are.

Mathews is injured from last year (surprise!).  As soon as he can pass a physical he's gone.

Todd McShay's latest mock has the Eagles taking McCaffrey at 14.  Interesting

If they did take him I wonder if he would be the pr/Kr?  Split reps at RB with Smallwood.  That could work
Maybe a KR/PR who gets 10-12 touches a game and can line up in the slot as well. He's a good player when you watch him and his combine #'s were very good from what I recall. I think in some drills he tested the highest ever if I'm not mistaken.

That's a good comparison.  I would seriously consider him
He still doesn't blow me away.  RB's shelf life is so low too, and bust rate even higher.  If we want to be competing for a Superbowl in 3 years, I'd rather take OL or CB to develop until then.... take a RB in round 1 next year.

Really.  I disagree.  I don't think you see 3 RBS this good every year

While I certainly would not mind seeing the Eagles draft one of the top 3 RBs, my overall preference is to use the early picks to address our needs at CB and DE. I do think that RB, LB and WR should be priorities as well, but I believe these can be addressed in the middle rounds. WR especially - I really think that rounds 3-5 are the sweet spot for WRs in this draft, don't see any reason to spend a high pick on a receiver this year.

I would also be very pleased to see the Eagles trade back a bit in the first, no later than the early 20s, to pick up an extra second rounder or more. The more ammo the better.

Does mcshay just write what he thinks teams should draft or does he actually get info from the teams and has some real idea?  I don't really get into the mocks much anymore as I find them totally unreliable and a waste of time.  Just curious if theres a method to his madness

Fournette is the only RB I'd want in the first. Too many question marks with Cook and McCaffrey. I would take either of them in the second though.
There's people projecting McCaffery as one of the first backs drafted in the first. I'm sorry but he doesn't touch the ball enough IMHO in the NFL to say he's first rounder. He's basically a better polished Danny Woodhead. I was going to the Flyers game last night anyway on a related note and unfortunately my friend listens to sports talk radio (Stopped yrs ago after realizing it's nothing more then a bunch of grown men acting like little kids when people didn't agree with their opinions), and Reese's show at a text talk topic. Either way they asked who should the Eagles draft. I think the dude said McCaffery at 14 (I forget his 2nd rounder but he wouldn't be there and was a 1st rounder) and then Tradarius White the LSU CB in the 3rd. Uh what? White might be one of the first CBs picked in the 1st. And people wonder why I don't listen to this BS anymore?

I was at the Flyers game last night and Carson Wentz was there. Let's just say this city really really loves themselves some Wentz.

was an easier day for me at work today with the snow, and i looked at some of the latest mock drafts. Seems quite a few have dropped Cook out of the 1st round. Fournette is always going in top 8-10 (most of the time top 5), and some have other RBs in that 1st round like Alvin Kamara from Tennessee.

Lol, i just went to look at 2 other drafts (on profootballfocus and drafttek.com) and they both had Cook in the 1st, so who knows. I just know for the Eagles, their game plan and offensive scheme makes me think they are set up more like Patriots, and they can take random pieces and fit them in at RB, as long as the QB is well protected and has a few weapons.
I usually just stick to WalterFootball.com I actually like the site and they seem to take a lot of scouting reports from different sites and add them all together for a very nice summary. They have us taking Delvan Cook ever since we took Jeffrey/Smith at WR. Here's their summary of the pick.

"Philadelphia Eagles: Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State
The Eagles, or rather, the Vikings winning the coin toss was absolutely huge. Many of Philadelphia's top needs coincide with Indianapolis', so it could pay off for the Eagles that they get to pick right before the Colts in the opening round.

Running back is an example of this. Both teams desperately need one, and it just so happens that Dalvin Cook is the best player available. Cook posted poor numbers at the combine, but those figures don't factor in his excellent vision, and besides, Cook's high-level production at Florida State is just too great to ignore. Cook would fill a big void for the Eagles, who appear to be finished with Ryan Mathews.

One other thing worth noting is that Cook has some minor off-the-field issues. However, Doug Pederson has worked with Andy Reid for many years, and Reid has been one to give players second chances. Perhaps Pederson will do the same."

yeah, the variability is pretty huge between Peters and Kelcey (who likely won't even start), and the other 3 positions (i think Brandon Brooks is like 27 or something). so you are right. I assume Lane can stop with the PEDs and hopefully doesn't hinder his game, but i still think we have question marks with Seumalo and Vaitai. Hopefully they pan out, and that does give us a solid base for awhile with those 4. But OL i think is the most important component with this team now
I honestly love Big V and Seamulo. I thought Big V did amazing after his welcome to the NFL introduction by Ryan Kerrigan which to be fair isn't easy on any rookie for their first start before he got hurt. I feel very confident in Seamulo at C if he replaces Kelce and Wiz at LG and I think we have a solid group. I think the oline was plague with inconsistency do to Lane's Suspension, some injuries and not really have a consistent Run game with a rookie QB. I thought the Wentz mobility even helped them a lot more where I think Bradford's lack there of really hurt them the year before.

Im not sure how many touches he'll get but he's a 3-down player. That's what we would want and expect if he's a first round pick.

He could be very capable of 15-20 total touches.

Would love to see McCaffrey in green, but that seems unlikely unless we trade back a little bit. Too many needs to move up for Fournette, and Cook makes me nervous between the checkered history and sub-par combine showing.

I'm  seeing  mccaffery mocked higher and higher every day. It would not surprise me  in the least if he's drafted around the Eagles pick.

None of us honestly knows for sure because Seamulo hasn't done it in the NFL yet but why would you want him and at center.  Wiz has shown he is a very good starting center in the NFL and Seamulo has played OG in college and most draft reports I read said he is more of an OG just curious because I never seen him play in college

A lot of reports I see have his position as a C. I mean he could probably play OG but the Eagles all indications think his best spot is C. He played all over the Line in college so I'm sure where ever he plays he'll fit in fine. I think Wiz is more of a G but that's just me.

Warmack back with his college coach that turned him into a very high 1st rd pick.  Stoutland could channel what made Warmack so dominant in college.  ?
It also seems Tennesee used him incorrectly by switching him from left to right guard where it was clear he was uncomfortable. Then he got hurt earlier last year and they subsequently shut him down.

So as some of you may or may not know I'm really close with a co worker of mine who's son works for the Eagles. Her son is local from Springfield went to NH as a WR/CB and his first year there his OC was no other then Chip Kelly. He then had a grad assistant job with MizzU and then when Andy took the KC job hired him where he worked with Eric Thomas the HoF CB for KC now their DB coach and was part of the staff. Doug Pederson when he started looking at Jobs and found out Philly's interested promised to bring him to Philly if he got the job. Anyway he got the job and my co worker's son got a promotion and works under Corey Udlin. She's told me a lot of stuff some I already knew. When I told her about signing a WR she asked me who it was and when I told her Torrey Smith she seemed confused most likely knowing already the Team probably Signed Alshon Jeffrey. Either I've met her son and he's a really nice down to earth guy really smart.

Either way point of this was that I ask her from time to time some stuff maybe to ask him and today I was able to actually have a convo with her where we both weren't rushing to either do a job or to the boss. I asked her about Eric Rowe and maybe why he was cut but she didn't know will ask her son who's in the islands on vacation as he was at the combine and went to the East West Shrine game and coached with Duce. He just got a Vaca after most of the big coaches on the staff got one so I probably won't know for a bit what she gets. I mentioned Schwartz not liking Rowe and she started talking about him. Sounds like a fun guy. Takes a private jet when he can home to visit his wife and he wear Versace Belts and all this other fashionable stuff to work every day. Real go getter but definitely has a softer side to him. Either way if I hear anytjhing on Rowe I'll let you guys know. Just so you know and before you ask I won't have much info in the stuff DH was getting from his buddy unfortunately but if I find or get any tidbits I'll definitely share.
