Blount would be the only one of that group I would consider but I would rather draft a young guy late

I was kinda surprised we didn't try for one of the other rbs that have already signed
I think Blount or Starks would've been good honestly. I've always liked Blount and Starks just seems like he'd be a good fit from all the things he could do.

Dolphins waived Chip Kelly's lover Dion Jordan after he failed a physical. Thank the lord we never took him and ended up with Lane. I know Lane can be an idiot but he's at least performed on the field.

Starks is done.  Can't stay healthy and not very effective when he does play
I have a theory that maybe he's not done but one of those RBs that needs to have consistent carries. But we aren't talking about signing a guy to a long term deal here either. I can see where you're going there though just always loved how the guy played and he was always someone you could count on.

Yeah but that was a long time ago.  He's not the same.  Really hasn't been that guy in years.  Go ask the gb homers how they like him.  They aren't mad he's leaving

Howie Long told Chris he'd love playing in Philly. Also Chris said he really loved it when he was in College and played Temple at the Linc and he loved the passion the fans showed in his first game ever in 08 was the Eagles Home opener where we scored 38. I think our old friend Kevin Curtis was the star of the day with McNabb along with some rookie name DeSean Jackson.

Kevin Curtis.  Almost forgot about that guy
One thing I hate about myself is I remember a lot of names on the roster which sucks sometimes. My grandparents had Season tickets since 61 (Pop was in the end zone they stopped GB to win the title in 60 at Franklin field bought season tix in 61 and my family has had the seats since then. My Pop pop worked insurance that went under after a business partner stole from them and still hasn't paid it all back to this day but he had a whole row in Sec 502 row 6 for all his business and clients. A lot of fun memories. My Grandma would bring the Hot Chocolate bags you had to rip open and use hot water for and she would Bring the Inquire sports page Eagles Gameday Edition with her I'd read on the way there. We would pick up hoagies at a deli near 69th st (Place I think isn't there anymore) and I'd have the line up and rosters memorized. I was going to games since 2 and lived through the horrible 90s at the vet but there were some great memories. It's where I learned my fine Philly Vocabulary (Well there and the ECW Arena my friends dad would bring us to the old ECW events just down the street). The thing I memorized most was the roster. Players name # and school. If I studied the roster long enough this coming season I could probably by week 1 off the top of my head get almost all 53 guys with position right and where they are on the depth chart. Some I will know the college and others I'd forget. There's names of guys I remember I wish to forget though...

Interesting RB stat:

72% of the running backs that have rushed over 1,000 yards in the last 11 years have been drafted within the first three rounds. The

I think this is more the route they go.  I think there's generally a nice sweet spot for RB value in Rounds 3, 4 and sometimes 5.  You can get talented, productive impact players there, and there's not many positions that's true of, as far as the 4th and 5th go at least.  Interior OL is probably the only other position I can think of where there's guys who can start by Year 2 consistently available after the 3rd.  RB is also a position where you can platoon, and develop a complete skill set across 2 or 3 players at the position.  Not the same as having one complete every down guy, but comes at a much lower price.
Actually I think rounds 3-5 are the sweet spot for WR this year. Williams and Davis are probably the only WR1 types to be had in this draft - but this class appears to be flush with receivers who can contribute in a WR3 role in year 1, and possibly make a bigger impact going forward. No need to list all the names as anyone is capable of looking up prospect lists, but I see a wealth of big, fast, skilled receivers projected as middle round picks.

Coming around on McCaffrey though.  Not for 20+ carries a game, but someone who can make people miss, catch the screen - I think he'd do wonders for this offense.  if there's a better BPA, then sure - but I wouldn't be sad if he's the pick.  Want no part of Mixon, I don't care if he's good. My 7 year old know not to hit a girl.  Age isn't an excuse for that behavior.  Hitting the pot - sure, I'll give that the age pass.  Not domestic violence.

We've been dancing around this Joe Mixon for the past couple of months; with some guys coming down on his side who say that they wouldn't have a huge problem with the Eagles drafting him and others against him; saying they want no part of him.

To that,  to those who don't want him on the Eagles, is him not being on the team you love, yet playing and willfully being accepted into the sport you love, enough to distance yourself and have a clear conscience? At what point would it NOT be?

I wouldn't be that mad if they drafted him.  Just would rather not.  Not worth it to me.  But I would get over it.  Pretty quickly if he's good.  :lmao:

As would most. I'd always have that in the back of mind though. Ignorance is bliss. I'm sure some Eagles have been complete scumbags over the years but we didn't see it or hear about it. You can't unsee what he did.

I'd root for the team of course but I could never objectively critique him or root for him. He's just RB A on the team.

For a guy to make a fist and launch it full speed at a woman's face, to me something has to be wrong with him upstairs.  No way that can be a one time thing, he's a Greg Hardy waiting to happen (again).  Only question is whether he's caught doing the same thing again during the 4 or 5 years he'd be on the team.

Bottom line is he isn't somebody I want to have to cheer for.  Don't think he can / should be excluded from the league at this point but would be fairly surprised if there isn't another issue of this type with him again.  If he can get that pissed off at a random stranger in 5 minutes, imagine what a girlfriend or wife will do to him once they get started.

There's some kinds of trouble / character concerns I think young men can learn from and grow out of, but don't think this is one of them.

My conscience is clear regardless, I'm not the one that hit a woman.  I don't want the Eagles to draft, and would be happy if no one did to send a strong message to people that assault on women is not tolerated, and if you do it, your NFL days are over.  However, no NFL owners to date have called me to ask my opinion, so I suspect my views on the matter don't mean a hill of beans to them.  If the Eagles actually drafted him - I would very likely write a letter or email expressing my disapproval to the team, but I wouldn't stop "being a fan".  If it's another team, I'll leave it to their fan base to handle.

I agree on Mixon. My biggest issue with it is there's people who wanted zero part with Vick after what he did but want this guy. Look I didn't want Vick either but personally for me it was more why does he deserve a 2nd chance in the NFL? You commit a federal crime and serve Jail time like he did you should never be allowed in the league again. Hey it's a nice story what has happened since he got out but what does that show these kids into this stuff or thinking about dog fighting? It just enables their behavior. Hey serve some jail time and if I'm a good player I'll be back in the league in no time. I forget which beat writer said this on Philly Sports Talk maybe (Ed Barkowits SP) but he thought these college athletes who do that type of thing or other crimes the NFL should have a rule you do it you aren't eligible for the NFL or the draft anymore. Said these guys need to learn accountability. The other issue here is how Colleges enabling this behavior. Every big sports program in College has a PSU scandal. Maybe not sexual assualt but other crimes covered up because said player/s help the team and winning more games means more money for the school. If your daughter or sister, neicee etc was Sexually assaulted or or whatever and the athlete was one of the top Football players well guess what you want justice fir what they did? Good luck. Unless a whole bunch of people step forward (Good luck you think the PSU culture was bad with Paterno's firing it's like that at most colleges) you won't win the case. It does nothing but enable poor behavior all because the schools are more worried about the money bringing in then people. I don't know what's worse the people defending these idiots or the excuses. One person commented on Bleeding Green Who cares I'd take Hitler if he was good enough as well as long as it won us a SB. Thats kind of crossing the line IMHO.

As for Connor McCaffery no thanks at 14. He's nothing more then a slightly better between the Tackles Version of Danny Woodhead. He's not worth a 1st. He's basically like Reggie Bush. he wasn't worth a #1 overall pick when he went that early. Given the life expectancy of RBs in the NFL I think it's more of a waste then taking taking WR who I'm opposed of in the 1st as I'm not a fan of any of the top 3 guys but if they become really good they'll last much longer then McCaffery. I just see him as a wasted pick that early. Unless I'm getting Cook or Fournette at #14 I don't want an RB in the first round. I'm warming up to getting a DE in the first though and if Reuben Foster dropped to 14 I'd be ecstatic.

I just have no tolerance for what he did. The excuses people are giving him seem out of line honestly. People are trying to turn him into the Victim when many say Mixon and Co started it. My co workers son Works for the Eagles is a coach on the defensive side and we were talking a few weeks back. He said a lot of the stuff has come out as he said she said but Teams have gotten a full police report including little things not mentioned publicly (WOuldn't go into detail on that) and it was basically confirmed by Police Mixon and crew started it and why they charged him. Instead of getting jail time his lawyer got a plea agreement. I think public apology (It was a pretty pathetic one and more I'm doing this to not go to jail then I'm really sorry for what I did) and I think he had to go to anger management plus pay fines and such. According to the report Mixon's birthday was that day so his friends were trying to get her to do favors for him (Sexual). When she rejected him they started catcalling her and were using homophobic slurs to her friends. I have a cousin who's gay so that's another reason I want this guy no where near my team. Heck I've gotten uncomfortable with simple gay jokes to an extent at work and won't and refuse to now use the word "f*g" or the extension of it unless I'm describing sticks. There's no question she could've handled it better but also witnesses could've also stepped in and told Mixon and company to knock it off and get out of there. This isn't the only incident and quite frankly I'm tired of no one mentioning the Parking ticket incident where he threatened a female cop with his vehcile. That was just back in Oct/Nov of this past season. it's obvious this guy has issues. I have zero tolerance for a guy who think he's not in the wrong for punching a female, using homophobic slurs all because he couldn't get in her pants. On top of that I have zero respect for people who disrespect law enforcement those who are actually doing their job correctly as I have multiple friends who are cops. I'm so intolerant of idiots like this I was one of those people back when Vick signed who basically said I wouldn't feel sorry if the dude blew out his knee and his career was over and if someone ended his career for him I'd gladly buy them a drink. I have zero tolerance for all three of those things especially from an adult. Now if this was MS or 9-10th grade and this behavior was happening we could use an age excuse to an extent. But Mixon and Vick both were at ages where they should know better. Look I'm glad Vick turned his life around. I mean the dude seems really sincere. Even personally met him a few yrs back and you could tell he has a different aspect on life. I just don't think he should've been allowed to play in the NFL ever again after what he did. You couldn't pay me 1M to be ok with Mixon on this team. That to me isn't Philly. We're suppose to be a city of fighters and blue collared workers who hate guys like Mixon. I mean how many of these fans wanting Mixon went after Irvin back in the day? It just makes them look like hypocrites.

My other issue is I think Mixon is extremely overrated. I'm not big on Big12 offensive players. The Conference is terrible defensively. Given the other talent in this draft at RB with his red flags he's just not worth it. I didn't mind Mills and other picks last year. There's a time and place to take guys with off the field issues with talent. Mills should've been a 2-3 rd but we got him in what round 5? That's great value for a guy who's had some off the field issues. Plus with the limited picks we had to kind of take some risks especially since we were in no spot competing for a title last year. Given our circumstances this year makes zero sense to take on guy with huge red flags and who i think isn't that great to begin with over some of the talented RBs with no issues.

Eagles get Timmy Jernigan and a 3rd 99 overall for 3rd 74 overall

Anounce on eagles site

also Dal release Romo who's now gonna replace Phil Simms on CBS and partner with Nantz

Tyler Jackson @tjack94
The Ravens only dumped Jernigan because they knew they couldn't afford him next year.
3:15 PM - 4 Apr 2017

that and they have a surplus of DL guys. Pays to have depth and they got to move up in a round.

Seems like a pretty solid deal. He seems like a scheme fit and with Long in as well they've upgraded the right DL a little bit. I am concerned with the below though. Also Jeff McLane said there's issues with his motivation and character.

Jernigan had his best statistical season in 2016, racking up 31 tackles, five sacks, three pass deflections and an interception. While that looks impressive on paper, a deeper look reveals that Jernigan virtually disappeared after Week 8.

During the final eight weeks of the 2016 season, Jernigan had only seven tackles and one sack.

:sadbanana:  worth the risk. if he starts stinking it up it won't hurt much to get rid of him

Not with motivation he tends to just take stupid unsportsmanlike penalties and is angered easily. I'm sure Schwartz will straighten that out swimmingly thought because if you make stupid mistakes again and again on his defense well thats your ticket of having a nice seat on the bench for the foreseeable future.

maybe, not really sure McClain has some inside info there or just looking to get more clicks while everyone waits for the draft.

to be honest the risk is low enough that it is hard to see how they lose on this deal. My hope is that with all the front office help they got now they have 7 rounds of knowing who may be where and their value. I am guessing they made this move with some draft potentials in mind.

ETA: as just reading up on him and the speculation a bit. bleedinggreennation i think makes the best point regarding it:

Along with the fact Jernigan will be a free agent after this season, there’s concerns about the player himself. Though obviously talented, Jernigan fell out of favor with Baltimore’s coaching staff last year. He didn’t have a sack in the Ravens’ #LastSevenGames and he only had one tackle in the last four games. Jernigan will have a lot of motivation to bring his A-game given that he’s playing for a new contract and he’s playing to impress his new coaching staff.

Would you swap first round picks for Richard Sherman?
depends where the Eagles see value in the 1st round, but for me, hell no. Not sure what value he can bring in the current defensive scheme, and it isn't like bringing him in will all of a sudden make the secondary a strength. if i am remembering correctly, he plays sides of the field more then man-to-man, so would be easy for a team to scheme against him and simply pick on the rookie on the other side of the field.

of course if the Eagles think that the value from in the mid-late 1st is similar then i guess go for it

With these latest additions to the DL, adding an elite LB like Foster and hitting on a 2nd rd CB could turn this D into one that could do some damage next year.

Hopefully.  We need more than one player in the secondary to make a big impact though.  It's that bad.

no after the whole Maxwell thing and seeing how Bennet did elsewhere among other guys I'm starting to think individually the Sea Def is very overrated. As a whole they are good but these individual guys all fit a scheme. I was never a Sherman fan and didn't like how he came off with Erin Andrews a few yrs ago with that interview. I never thought Sherman was that great of a CB on his own similar to Revis who had an amazing front 7. Plus he's 29 yrs old. Rather build through the draft. Sherman might have 2 yrs left before he starts to fade off. I was never a big fan of Sea or Carrol. I think Carrol is a complete scumbag for what he did to USC and the lying. Never was a big Russell Wilson fan either and you're starting to see the cracks in his game. For yrs he was overshadowed by a great D and Run Game. This isn't saying Wilson is a Kapernick but I think Wilson is more of a game manager then actual elite QB. Sea invested heavily on Wilson and their key defensive guys. Let them reap what they sowed hnestly.

If it were just Sherman + 26 for 14.....I'd do it.  Mocks seem to be all over the board (I don't know the difference between the legit mocks and jabroni mock sites so forgive me if this is off base) and it looks like there's a number of players late in the first in some mocks that the Eagles are interested at 14.  Plus, if Howie REALLY wanted to...he could try and move up from 26.

If it involved other picks going to SEA.....I don't think so. If it were a 2nd Round pick for Sherman...I wouldn't do it either.

The more I think about this team, the more I don't buy any aspect of rebuilding.  I think they think they can compete now.

I think they are doing right now is build through the draft but also try and stay competitive. Unlike the Sixers and Hinkie they aren't trying to lose games just to build through the draft plus I think Eagles fans being football the biggest sport in town the fans would never go for it either. So try and build through the draft make good signings but also be as competitive as possible. In the NFL unlike Basketball and some other sports anyone can beat anyone any given Sunday and it's what makes this sport so great. A team can go from 3-13 one year to 13=3. All depends on the roster you have and how to make it over. Plus some teams who lack depth at key positions they lose a few of those guys to injury suspension what have you and it makes or breaks a season. I think the Eagles if Lane wasn't suspended maybe make the playoffs last year. Yeah we still had a lot of holes but have you seen our stats with and without Lane in the line up Offensively? I still don't think we are there in terms of SB contenders but we're close to a competitive playoff team especially if teams sell us short and Carson and the offense continue to develop. On that note I just don't feel Sherman is a guy we should take or need given or cap situation and I'm always mum now on acquiring Defensive players from Sea. I say let them (Sea) reap what they sowed out there in their cap hell. I called this when Sea first ended up being good and they started resigning their key players to huge deals. Given I'm not a huge fan of Russel Wilson either I thought his contract was too much as well. Said they'll resign key guys but because of the cap will end up with casualties and all because of it. It's now been happening for the last 2 and 1/2 yrs.

really plugged in for the team meaning they know that he will say anything they tell him?
Eskin has always had good sources with the team. I know he somewhat works for them but he does receive solid info non the less. No one else reported the Mixon Cancelation either. I heard him on radio as my friend had it on during our drive to the Sixers game tonight and he was speculating they changed their mind of Mixon and had seen and heard everything they needed. Also talked about Pederson's media day last week about how he talked about wanting character guys and how he doesn't see Mixon as one of those guys.

Speaking of the Sixers game Alshon Jeffrey was there. Sat across the floor from my seats. Jeffrey use to frequent Bulls games during his time in Chicago.

FWIW Rueben Frank was on WIP this morning and said he gets the sense they really like Mixon and that's who they're picking on round 2 if e falls to their pick.
