Sometime this morning, TWC had a reporter on the beach somewhere in SC showing how calm it was there at the time while landfall was happening in NC. She said something like, "Just be patient; the worst is yet to come." She and the guy in the booth each repeated it, "Be patient. It could get pretty bad there a little later."Many of the major network anchors are down here too. Just such a ratings grab. Dangerous storm, stay at home but we will send our major talent there. Just not much integrity left anymore in reporting.
Do you know it needs to be covered and not in a garage? I didn't.after this, sell me your generator before you kill yourself.
I got power, getting hammered.
There were probably instructions when you bought itDo you know it needs to be covered and not in a garage? I didn't.
Who reads thatThere were probably instructions when you bought it
I'm a dumb ### when it comes to this stuff but where do you put it in a dry, well ventilated spot during a driving rainstorm? There were probably instructions when you bought it
You need to buy a generator rain coat, who knew?I'm a dumb ### when it comes to this stuff but where do you put it in a dry, well ventilated spot during a driving rainstorm?
Cars safe by many mattresses ruined in the area.Anything goes in FayetteNam
Haha didn’t know that when I picked mine up the other day, glad I didn’t need it. What are you supposed to use?Do you know it needs to be covered and not in a garage? I didn't.
Usually, in tropical-type storms, the generator is to be used after the worst has passed but power is still expected to be out for some times. I think there are more built in ones you can use. My aunt in Jax, FL just got one that sits outside permanently.I'm a dumb ### when it comes to this stuff but where do you put it in a dry, well ventilated spot during a driving rainstorm?
They want it on a flat surface with plywood underneath. If you put it in garage connected to the house with the garage door open, still can get carbon monoxide poisoned in house. If it is away from the house and gets wet, good chance of electrocution. Google best ways to stage it as obviously I am not the expert.Haha didn’t know that when I picked mine up the other day, glad I didn’t need it. What are you supposed to use?
Both sound like horrific suggestions.gotta be covered, maybe under a deck or mattress.
Man I knew not to keep in the garage but figured it could run in the rain. They want it on a flat surface with plywood underneath. I would run it in the garage if I had to, just inside the door with the door open all the way and the exhaust pointed out the doorIC FBGCav said:You need to buy a generator rain coat, who knew?
It's been raining sideways for about 4-5 hours now so that wouldn't keep it dryI would run it in the garage if I had to, just inside the door with the door open all the way and the exhaust pointed out the door
Explain to me like I'm at 720 feet sea level.IC FBGCav said:Do you know it needs to be covered and not in a garage? I didn't.
Love it, think I paid that much for my generator, they take crypto?
how does that even stay on in a storm, looks like a sail for your generator?
Yea I think that killed a couple people down here last year.IC FBGCav said:Do you know it needs to be covered and not in a garage? I didn't.
Wow, not good.Yea I think that killed a couple people down here last year.
I just moved in June. I had a shed and never needed to run my generator but I would have probably run it in the rain even there. If I did run it in my shed, I can see how dumb I would have been as all the CD would be in there. Need an open area with rain coat. Coat hooks to the bars on gen.how does that even stay on in a storm, looks like a sail for your generator?
As others have said, a portable generator is best for after the storm when you are waiting for your service to get turned back on. I have about a 12x7 overhand on the side of my shed that the generator would go in to protect it from rain. It's mainly open on 3 sides.
This. Ride the storm out, then fire up the generator.I think those generators are supposed to be used after the storms have past along with the rain.
Where are you in NC?Still got power, still getting hammered by wind and rain. Cars are moving up and down the road freely and at an unusual number for time of day and conditions.
I'm well outside of the danger zone in VA.Same to you. You safe? Where in nc?
Gracias. I'm good, my friendUrik, you need a place too stay? Let me know.
