I originally had whale oil, but I didn't want to be mean. My issue with him is not his weight. It's that he sucks out loud.

Oh, I understand.

Matheny may require some reprogramming, too. Maybe tie him to chair, pry his eyes open, and make him look at photos and videos of Broxton while Nickleback songs play in the background. That way, when he starts to call the bullpen, he will shake and vomit before he can say, "get Broxton up".

It was a bit uncouth.

When you're a spoiled fan of a team willing to spend money while making many more good decisions than bad ones, #### like this slips out sometimes. We've gotten so used to having RHPs who throw 97 with movement come off the assembly line, a guy like Broxton stands out.

There's one I can't find that literally makes me want to vomit it is so bad. They play it as a goof but I have to pull my headphones off.

 
Loss was bad.

Losing Martinez after 7 pitches was worse.

Should've figured the seemingly difficult decision of who to drop from the playoff rotation would sort itself out with an injury. Story of the season.

No fractures or serious damage reported from tests on Piscotty's head, face, and neck last night. Spent the night in the hospital, diagnosed with a head contusion.

Bourjos's knee is fine, though mentally he was badly shaken up by the play. Impressed he was able to stay in the game and make the play he did later in the inning.

Carpenter said he felt like he couldn't move after the collision. Stayed crouched by third base the whole time the medical staff was on the field. From his POV, Carp was sure Piscotty had broken his neck.

By Bourjos' reaction and the way he was laying, I thought the same thing. That they refused to air the replay for so long was not reassuring.

 
I think you're right about the front end of the rotation, plus I'm concerned Wacha may be running out of gas.

One thing I do think works in our favor (assuming Molina and Piscotty return) is that we have one of the deepest benches we've had going into the postseason. Remember when Daniel Descalso was our "ace" pinch-hitter in recent postseasons? He'd be last man off the bench on this squad.

Yes. And in new ways, too.Take last night for example. Carpenter scored the go-ahead run from 1st on a dribbler up the middle. That ball could easily have been a double play, but the Cardinals won the game on it.

I know the real story of the season is the voodoo magic strand rate the pitchers have hung, but I'll remember the unconventional wins more.

Rained out tonight.

The doubleheader tomorrow could be good shtick, though. If the Cards win the afternoon game, I think the players should bring champagne bottles with them when they take the field in the nightcap, like you would bring a beer can out to the outfield with you in slow-pitch softball.

 
That is excellent news.

Waino cleared to pitch out of the bullpen ain't half bad, either. If the Cards clinch the division in the afternoon game, Wainwright will pitch an inning in the nightcap.

 
Lousy matinee.

Was once seeing Waino on the mound, though. The run he gave up IMO wasn't his fault. Pham broke wrong on a ball, got turned around, and gave up a double on a flyball Bourjos or Heyward would have caught.
