Here running an alias . I readily admit to being in a foul mood . The series and couple of bourbons aren’t mixing well. I’m still pissed about losing the 09 series to the Flyers. I’m actually sorry I brought it up

Thread title is inaccurate. Bruins fan would never give a beer of their own to a rival fan to hold ... they would either throw it at them or chug it and them vomit it all over them.

As for the game ... penalties, yeah it sucks that the refs are all over the place. But how about you stop spotting the other team a two-goal lead and expect to be able to rebound or expect the whistles to bail you out.
And Chara ... how about you stop trying your Glen Wesley impersonation flipping the puck over the glass. Pretty much cost them Game 2 last year in Ottawa and changed the momentum of that series, as well. I can almost handle your 41-year-old corpse pulling a Brooks Orpik impression on the first goal. At least we can look forward to that for another year.

Ref chat is generally boring. It's largely homerism at it's worst.
But that was a takedown in the middle of the ice on McAvoy and a lick by Marchand on Callahan? What the hell was he doing licking the guy without getting a penalty or misconduct?
You can't own ridiculous stuff. Those things were way outside the rules.
This has been WWE-level bad.
I don't study the rulebook like some, but not sure there's anything in there about licking. seems to me the refs were letting a lot of things go. it's the playoffs so not sure why that would be a surprise to anyone.

It's no surprise, necessarily. But I'm fairly sure there's an unsportsmanlike clause in the rulebook for stuff like spitting on people or licking them. It may be nebulous, but licking rises to any nebulous level of unsportsmanlike activities.
And there surely is a clause for holding, hooking, tripping, or whatever Kucherov did to McAvoy.
And I hate auto-correct. I meant "its worst." Pardon my grammar slip.
Anyway, this has been a good thread. I think the B's need to play better to win. Simple as that. If the deck is stacked against you, count cards until you find the advantage.
but my comment was in response to the Boston fan saying Tampa was gifted two wins in the series due to the refs. that's just ridiculous and has nothing to do with Marchand being a weirdoo.
thought most in here agreed there should have been a call when Kucherov had a partial breakaway too.

It might have been one of those things, and I know which one, but it wasn't as clear as you see them most of the time.

Then again, I thought Doughty's hit was clean in Rnd. 1, so there's that. I see the game maybe a little differently having been away for a decade. If low bridges are now frowned upon and it's agreed that they shouldn't happen (assumedly because they wipe out knees -- I'm guessing MCLs), then by all means stomp Marchand.

It was holding, but it wasn't blatant. Which is why it wasn't called. When it happened, I could easily see how it could have been missed/not seen well by a ref.
None of this is why the Bruins lost. Was really weak of Marchand to complain about the refs after the game.

I respect your opinion but the third goal came directly from said hold. It actually is why they lost, much like the refs in that Green Bay/Detroit fiasco many moons ago.
But Aaron is right, ref talk is boring. I won't derail the thread.
On and up to the next one. Pittsburgh and Washington should be a heck of a game tomorrow. And then Winnipeg/Nashville. I like how both series are knotted 2-2. Intense.

Bruins fans certainly don’t expect any sympathy in here. It sucks, but it is what it is. As I said the other night, Tampa has been the better team since the start of Game 2. I’m not even too upset by the Marchand non-call in Game 2, because there’s no guarantee he scores anyway. But from that, to the double-minor for Hedman hitting himself with his own stick, to tonight, the refs have been too much of the story in too many series, for better or for worse. (See also: the non-calls on Wilson.) If not for Marchand (which was moronic ... enough’s enough), I think more people would be talking about it tonight.

I don't get the outrage over certain things like Marchmont (local joke) ducking down and essentially delivering a hip check. I used to love seeing devastating hip checks where some guy goes ### over tea kettle.
Some of these cross checking and slashing calls are so weak. Even if they are, at least be consistent. They put an extra ref on the ice and I don't think it improved the officiating all that much.

You can be a pest without licking a dude, Marchand looks like a clown doing this crap. Not for nothing but most pests in hockey can’t hold a candle to Marchand when it comes to ability, he really shouldn’t be engaging in any pest activities. He is a great player and should just knock all that crap off.
Bruins let one get away last night, been a frustrating series as a Boston fan these last two games as they were down 2-0 early in both. They did a good job last night battling back but damn If Tampa doesn’t make you pay for any mistake. I think they can win Game 5 though.
