***Official 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs thread: Caps and Mystics to raise banners together in October. Congrats DC!!!!!!! (1 Viewer)

Caps played great last night and for most of the series.  Fitting way to clinch the series on the breakaway goal... defense lapses by the Pens and the Caps capitalizing on those chances was the story of the series for me.   Now I hope they lose 4 straight to Tampa  :P

What a fun ride it us been as a Pens fan these last 2 years.

Would be sweet sweet justice if Forsberg comes back to haunt the idiot who traded him out of Washington by coming back to beat him in Vegas

It would be awesome.

I said it before the series that I believe the last two Cup championships were decided in the Pens-Caps series. I don't think that's the case this year, but what epic battles they have been.

Over the last three years, the Caps and Pens have played 19 playoff games. The Pens hold a 10-9 lead. The Caps hold a 52-50 scoring edge. 11 of the games decided by 1 goal. Five of them in overtime. Edge of your seat action, game after game, shift after shift.

I'm so friggin grateful this series didn't go 7. I really don't think I could have taken it.

Favorite moment after the goal is Letang crawling around in the corner trying to pick up his stick. Looked like Mike Tyson trying to pick up his mouth guard after Buster Douglas KO'd him.

Wondered if they would have awarded a penalty shot if Kuznetsov hadn't scored. I don't think there's any way, especially the way that game was officiated, but it looked like he might have been throwing his stick at the puck.

Were the Bolts even -190 to beat the Devils? I thought it was -180 to open. That’s not a lot of respect for the Caps.

That’s horrible journalism
It really is awful, but so typical of the industry these days when the hot take gets people talking, no matter how stupid.

(Also: the comments reinforce something people keep forgetting about journalism ... the writers rarely, if ever, write their own headlines.)

I can’t stand Cook.  He’s so terrible and seemingly anti-Pittsburgh sports (at least he comes across that way because of his negativity).  The Pens are awesome.  They won 2 cups in a row.  I feel nothing right now but happiness for the fans of the remaining teams.   :)

only Bettman could keep all four of these matchups from going 7
I was doing some research the other day because I was genuinely curious when everyone was talking about how great this second round would be.

Last year was only the fifth time in the expansion era (post-1967) that every series in the round of eight went at least six games.

i know 2013 was another. IIRC, I believe the others were 2009, 1999 and 1986.

I thought we'd get two minimum, possibly all four.  oh well, the one we got should be a battle.

This is correct if I look at it objectively.  He's been on staff for the last 7 dismal years, not exactly a new voice.

As for GM, not a Waddell fan.

So all the GMs casted off their unwanted players and they made them all look bad, so it's annoying?
No most NHL GMs seem super dumb and the Vegas guy executed a good plan and ripped them off like the morons they largely are, but if you are a fan of a long-suffering team you aren’t interested in Vegas having immediate success.

Cav doesn't seem to mind  :D

Kind of like how some people felt when Tampa, Anaheim, and Carolina won their cups soon after getting a team.

I love my Canes, should I hate smart people that put together a Cup team?
