All kidding aside, I hope we don't hear the "rusty" excuse for the Lightning this time around. They had one more day off than the Caps.

 
NBC keeps talking about Tampa having a bad break to have their goal taken away. The only reason they scored in the first place is rhe 6th man lurking at center ice who got a breakaway.

It's like the goal and having 6 men on the ice were totally unrelated. 

 
Speculation is that Backstrom has a broken hand. I know they’ve been great without him but I think they need him to win this series. 

Impressive game 1 though. 

 
Obviously loved the first two periods. 

Hated taking two penalties in the third when you’re up 4 goals. 

Loved the shutdown in the EN situation. 

 
That Chiasson penalty was a terrible play. 

6-1 on the road now. Holtby actually fought it a little tonight but I think part of that might have been how few shots he saw for the first half of the game. 

 
Great win in what was a pretty dominant game defensively for the Caps.Be nice to send off Trotz with a Cup on his resume since the word going around(for a while now)is he won't be coming back no matter what happens.

Bolts pretty clearly had no interest in winning this game.Home ice may be the worst thing going in hockey right now.

 
I don’t understand the Bolts at all. All that talent and experience and this close to the cup and they lay that turd. So aggravating.

Cooper said after the game that the Caps were playing in the ECF and the Bolts mentally were playing game 38. 

I wonder if my ticket rep will let me pay game 38 prices. :hot:  

 
So, there are a bunch of Jets fans standing in the street outside the arena to watch the game. They plan to stand there. In the street. For four hours.

I've often said that I live in a city populated by the descendants of people who were too stupid to realize they were allowed to leave. I submit this scene as further evidence of that.

 
Don't understand why these mindless nationalist rituals need to be televised. That would have been a great time to do some analysis instead.

 
One might think that once somebody realizes they're talking to themselves in a public forum, they may stop.

Not quite sure what you're looking for. I was expecting to be bored, but am pleasantly surprised by the pace of the game and lack of goonery.

As a casual fan, a competitive match up is fun to watch. When Winnipeg got that questionable third goal (I disagree on the interference), to go up 3-0 five minutes into the game, I wonder if there’s much left to watch this game for. 

 
@KKurzNHL: Winnipeg outside the arena looks like a giant party, and Winnipeg inside the arena looks like they’re watching a movie

 
We are considering selling tonight. The tickets are so expensive and that whole “we played like it’s game 38” bull#### left a bad taste in my mouth. It’s hard to justify spending almost 500 bucks on a team that doesn’t even give an effort. 

The other side is they’ve been awesome all playoffs and through the years and losses happen but hearing that really pissed me off for some reason.

Lol. I’ve spent over 10 grand on this team this year and close to that each of the last 3 years. You can piss right off with that.
