***Official 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs thread: Caps and Mystics to raise banners together in October. Congrats DC!!!!!!! (1 Viewer)

That ref begins the net can eat a big one.  Rinnes mask loose and alerts the ref multiple times and no stop.  Jets score the go ahead right after.  And Rinne needs to be smart and shake the mask off in that situation.

All that said...up 3-0 you shouldn’t lose.  For all the talk the Nashville D...they have been bad this series.
Agree that Rinne has to toss the mask and stop play.  Didn't understand that one.  And it looked like later he took his frustration out on a Jets player and got a stupid 2 min slashing penalty with about 4 min left.  Have to keep your cool in that spot.

The Preds D hasn't been great, but I think you have to give the Jets O a lot of credit for that.....they are REALLY skilled up front and Byfuglien is like another power forward playing defense.  The Jets are never out of it, even down 3 with 2 periods left.

Looks like it's real tough to win the 'Peg!  The Preds have their work cut out to win this series....won't be surprised to see this series go 7 games.

I think Wilson has to get a game suspension and he deserves it. Whether or not he was within the letter of the law or not, he's a habitual line stepper and needs to pay a price. NHL also needs to do something or else it's going to be an all-out assault on Wilson by the Pens in Game 4 and that's not what is shaping up to be an epic series should be about.

I'm a huge Caps fan and am really happy with how Wilson has developed into a legit NHL power forward. But he needs to tone down the freight train hits, and if Trotz isn't going to focus him, then maybe the NHL can help.

If' he's out, will be interesting to see if they pair Backstrom and Ovie a little more. Also would love to see a lot more Vrana. He creates legit chances on every rare occasion he sees the ice.

Daniel Carcillo has some strong opinions on the Wilson hit on his twitter feed.

Had the league of denial made the right call in game 2 with Wilson’s hit to the head on Doumilin, Reese’s jaw would be in tact & he wouldn’t be suffering from a traumatic brain injury. He is now at risk for early on set #Alzheimers #dementia #parkinsons #tbi #cte @NHLPlayerSafety

@KKurzNHL: Nothing confirmed yet, but, it does look like Joe Thornton is taking line rushes today on the top line. Standby for DeBoer availability in a few.

@KKurzNHL: Also, Evander Kane is missing this morning, and it looks like Joakim Ryan may be taking Paul Martin’s place, too.

That's preposterous.

and if the Pens are stupid enough to wage an all out assault on Wilson in game 4, Caps should welcome it.  Then they'll be down 3-1.   Actually, on second thought, if you're a Caps fan, being up 3-1 might be the last thing you want.

about time they get Martin out of there.  not sure why his ice time went up in G3 in a shorter game but man did he look bad.  looked 100 years old on Karlsson’s game winner.

True.  You don't wage an all-out assault on Wilson.  You wage an all-out assault on Ovechkin. Let him tell Wilson he needs to knock it off.

Not playoff-related, but looks like Jim Montgomery is going to be the new Stars coach. He's just the fifth-ever NCAA-to-NHL coach, joining Hakstol (along with Bob Johnson, Herb Brooks and Ned Harkness).

For those who might remember that ridiculous Maine 1993 NCAA champion team when Paul Kariya won the Hobey with an absurd 25-75-100 line, Montgomery was nearly as good (32-63-95 in 45 games).

I agree its part Jets...but Subban defensively has been bad.  Pitiful attempts at clearing the puck, takes bad penalties too...and out of position.  He has made up for it at times on the offensive end...but not playing great.

And yeah, Rinne was definitely frustrated he didn't get the call...then when he took a little hook he retaliated and went full chop for that penalty.  Can't do that in that situation of a game.

man that program is getting decimated this offseason.  going to be a big step back next year from these past two years teams.

I do remember that team!

@CarBombBoom13: This is one of the scariest & hardest things I’ve ever had to write but here it goes. I am pledging my brain to Ted Carrick and the @Carrickinst (Carrick Institute) to be used for study and furthering understanding of the consequences of traumatic brain injury when I pass @NHL

Burns also turned the wrong way on the pass. Unidirectional!

3 is too much but oh well. If the NHL is committed to cleaning up the game and you have a guy who’s shown time after time that he’s not willing to observe those guidelines, then you have to do something. No different than Burfict in the NFL.

Excited to see what Vrana can do in an expanded role.

Too easy to blame the officiating. Tampa has been the better team since the puck dropped in Game 2.

The Bruins need to figure it out and fight their way through this. Too many guys struggling or simply invisible.

This is really the crux of the matter. Backes was invisible in this series until he got in that fight.

They're just not playing that well and Tampa is excellent.

I agree, they deserved to lose game 2 and same so far this game. You need to steal a couple along he way to make a deep run though. I thought they were denied a chance to steal one at the end of game 2 and trending that way again this one.

Need to turn it the #### around on their own though.

he’ll learn from this.  instead of making a hockey play he will find a guy away from the play and cross check him in the face.  those are looked more favorably upon

I want Donato dressed

 Cooper looks like a pedo

Giving Stamkos life :lmao:
