***Official 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs thread: Caps and Mystics to raise banners together in October. Congrats DC!!!!!!! (2 Viewers)

saw a tweet that said this:

he's only been in Washington for 3 years. So, his 5 playoff winning goals have come in 43 games played (11.6%).

#1 on the list is Ovechkin, but he only has 7 in 115 games played (6.1%)

#2 is a 3-way tie between Backstrom with 6 in 110 games played (5.5%), Peter Bondra with 6 in 73 games played (8.2%), and Jason Chimera with 6 in 63 games played (9.5%)

Oshie is tied with the legendary Joe Juneau, who put up 5 in 44 games (11.4%) with the Capitals.
One more for Ovechkin.

I take back all the bad things I've said about Burakovsky and I have a serious mancrush on Tom Wilson  .

Great series to the Bolts fans here.Had you told me the Caps would shut them out the last 2 games I would have said you're drunk but they really did stifle them and frustrate them in ways I didn't think they could.

Now bring on Vegas,Monday night can't get here soon enough!Still have a few more demons to get rid of before this run is over.

I'm not sure how to act now that the Caps will be playing hockey again in June?Last time they did this they got boat raced by the Wings.

The answer is clearly more alcohol.

Just looked it up ... that series didn't even begin until June 9. Makes some sense, because '98 was an Olympics year.

Anyone want to bet the finals? I'll take Vegas.  Straight up. No odds.  You're a ##### if you need odds from an expansion team.

This seemed like a weird series, but it was only two years ago that Nashville-Anaheim in the first round followed the exact same pattern:

Nashville wins Games 1-2 on the road to go up 2-0

Anaheim wins Games 3-4 on the road, then Game 5 at home to go up 3-2

Nashville wins Game 6 at home to tie the series, then Game 7 on the road.

(Sorry, Getz)

Caps 8-2 on the road. What’s the record for road wins in a single post season?

Found it - 10. Devils in 95 and 00, Calgary in 04.

Also, would tie 87 Flyers and 04 Flames for most games played in a single post season if the Finals go to game 7.

Who, in their right mind who have called a Caps/Knights cup final?

This is the year the Caps make it to the final. They'll play - and lose - to Las Vegas. They get another banner and we get an expansion team Cup champion.
I should have drafted according to this prediction. :wall:

Wow.. Kane has had two 50 point seasons and gets 7x7.  That's insane.
think he averages 2nd most shots/game behind Ovechkin.

Main problem is he's hurt a lot. Career average of .62 points/game would pro-rate to 51 points in an 82-game season.

4th this year. Doesn't that make it even worse then?    I was surprised when I heard he's had only two 50 point seasons on  NHL XM today.
dunno. not many guys can generate shots as easily as he can. he does it almost all at even strength while playing with some pretty terrible linemates at times too.

he's still cheaper than David Krejci and Bobby Ryan. same cap hit as Dion Phaneuf.

Aka ... the “Chiarelli method”.

Lord...who were they bidding against?
Couver probably

who would you rather have?

E.Kane at 7 years, $49MM or Milan Lucic at 6 years, $42MM?

Lucic was 28 when he signed. Kane will turn 27 soon. So both guys will have same cap hit up until they turn 34yo.
