***Official 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs thread: Caps and Mystics to raise banners together in October. Congrats DC!!!!!!! (1 Viewer)

Oshie was 8/$46m last Summer as a 30 year old.
so he was 3.5 years older than Kane is now. was also coming off 4 straight years with 50+ points. didn't get there this year and now at 31 years old, it seems like he's unlikely to rebound to a huge degree.

those extra years allowed them to keep his cap hit down, but that contract will probably look pretty bad in the second half of it.

he was banged up a good part of the year and had a pretty rough stretch when he came back from the head injury which probably was related.  playing on that top PP unit he’s still a pretty good candidate for 20+ goals and 50-60 points.

not that that makes that contract good, it was always a stretch how far they went out to manage the cap hit.

Bob McKenzie's latest podcast seems to think there's a strong chance Ryan O'Reilly is moved this offseason. Says the Sabres are looking for a package similar to what the Kings paid for Mike Richards, which was Brayden Schenn, Wayne Simmonds, and a 2nd round pick.

Don't think they'll get that much for him, but he speculated that Montreal would have a huge need for a player like him. I wonder if the #3 pick could be part of a deal there if they miss out on Tavares. He also mentioned Carolina as a possibility. Seems certain that Skinner will be moved but he's a year away from UFA status so not sure what his value is.

Can hardly wait to see how Bergevin screws this up. Going to be tough to replicate his previous two off-season blunders but I think he's got it in him..

I wonder how sheriff66 would refer to the Las Vegas Golden Knights?

the olden knights

the mights

the tykes

I love how they seamlessly went from medieval times to a ####ing rave. Just a thousand year jump without a transition.

The Caps finally skate for the Stanley Cup and I feel like I’m watching a mediocre movie about a near-future dystopia

Eller penalties basically cost Caps 2 games vs Tampa so not happy to see him cross checking guys in the face early

Semin-esque offensive zone penalty followed by one Holtby should have had. Caps PK has been shaky since Tampa series

late to the game here ... but can you imagine attending every LV game this season and watching that pre-game?  It's like a bad Broadway play that rolls straight from King Arthur into Studio 54.  Like everything in LV - non sensical.  I'd rather pay $150 for a steak at Gallaghers than be forced to watch that weak rendition of Macbeth on Ice.

Bring it Caps!

Caps weathered the early storm but Vegas has the jump and are dictating. Will be interesting to see if Washington can settle down and play their game - if it continues at this pace, they’re going to be out of gas by the third
