*Official 2018 Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles* - Tough way to go out. Magic finally gone. (1 Viewer)

Please stop polluting this team thread with your Rico Gathers level analysis. While your insistence that Duk was better than Wentz was entertaining for awhile this is really getting old and it may deserve its own thread at this point. Thanks.
You're about a year or so behind, LOL. Dak outplayed Wentz as a rookie which sparked the debate. Wentz also got hurt which is something I was leery of when I took him on several dynasty teams really high. He's all legs when he runs & a good target. Sure enough. BTW, I've already stated Wentz has developed quicker, partly due to MUCH better receiving options. It's not really a debate right now.

I tend to post when people re-engage me. The topic is kinda getting old, but I still haven't heard why you didn't need a DB in the 2nd. That would be interesting if anybody wants to comment. If not, I'm probably done for now.

Agreed, it’s not even close.

I've already answered that, but real quick, I remember some of you guys wanting Guice. I would've been on board with that. Your RBBC is ok, but Guice would've been a nice addition to go with your already top passing game.

Considering your Super Bowl window, my other suggestions would likely have been on D, specifically the back end. I know some Philly guys are wanting to trade for Thomas if you can swing it (which makes sense). It's not like your secondary hasn't been vulnerable.
A rookie RB would have more impact on a team with Ajayi, Sproles and Clement? Hard no.

A 3rd safety on a team with Jenkins and McCleod? Another hard no on first year impact.

Of course injuries play a role but Guice is gone as well. A 4th RB or 3rd S would have had LESS immediate impact than a a 2nd TE on a team that uses 12 personnel frequently.

I appreciate the reasonable reply, but a CB would help. I mean, you guys are getting toasted pretty regularly back there.

Without money to go get a top FA CB, I would've been looking hard at corner. In today's NFL, at least 3 CBs are on the field much of the time.

You can NEVER have enough corners.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are witnessing the psychological effects of having your team win more playoff games in a year then someone else's team has won in 23 years. It's not often you get to see a complete mental breakdown in real time. It is certainly a sight to behold.

False claim?

You don't have serious needs? I think you do.

Just the simple fact some of you guys are wanting to trade for Thomas is an indicator.

I'm not trying to hit a nerve, but your secondary got lit up like a Christmas tree in the Super Bowl & a journeyman did the same thing this season.

Your secondary looks like your Achilles' heel & it's not like it should be a surprise.
Straw man argument.  Wrong about TE being a need so start talking about the super bowl,  earl Thomas, struggles in the secondary, and the first qb in nfl history to throw for three straight 400 yard games. Anything to change the subject of you being wrong and unable to admit it

Sounds like the titans are getting pretty healthy.  Fortunately we are too, though ajayi and peters are always a little risky.  I will trust that the titans still don’t really have things in synch and see the eagles winning a pretty close one, maybe 24-20. Something like that.

People who give themselves this safety net are the worst type of sports fans in the world.  If you want to arrogantly blast a decision, then put yourself on the line and be willing to admit when you're wrong.  But having this obsession with being right and being afraid to say "I was wrong on that one" is cowardly.

You're exactly right.... if he turns out great it will be "I liked him as a prospect".  Just like Dallas being awful has now switched to "its only our coaching, we are so talented and once we get our stud coach we'll be awesome".  Nothing Philly or Dallas could do would make this guy have an open mind or admit he might have made a bad call.  Nothing.  We could lose the SB in OT and he'd say "I was right to not put them in the top tier, they fell short like I thought".  Pretty pathetic.
I had a guy just like this on my old board. We'd all go around in a big circle jerk arguing semantics with him and he always had to be right. Plus he always had to be right and never wrong.

Just give it up man.  Your obsession with this Eagles thread and trying to prove your thick skin has hit an all time low.  You have nothing new to add to the Goedert topic (except when you rush in here after he had a bad game, and likely will again if he has another one), so just move on and stick to worrying about your team which is in dire need of some pass catchers right now.
They're in dire need of a lot of things LT, pass catchers, LB help, possible pass rushers, new coach and GM and maybe New owner since this guy now is senile

I heard down in Texas they just euthanize people who go crazy. Something about God something something God, Something.

If we got him I would think we would sign him to a long term deal
You would hope that's the only way we are taking him. I just hate giving up draft capital and Cap for an RB when we need to extend Wentz and have other needs. After Went gets his HUGE CONTRACT those picks become way more important.

Wentz has a ton of money coming soon. I'm not sure I would want to tie up a lot of money in Bell.
really no way that i see them giving bell the deal he wants.  i guess it might not hurt to just try him for the season if the price is low enough and they can figure out the cap for this year.

good summary from cbssports:

The Steelers are hopeful of getting more than a third-round pick for Bell – they would get a late 2020 third-round pick as compensation for him leaving as a free-agent, in all likelihood – and would prefer to deal him to the NFC, sources said. The Eagles would likely have to clear some salary and cap space in order to facilitate taking on Bell's $850,000 a week salary, but they have trade candidates like backup quarterback Nick Foles who could play a role in that.

The defending Super Bowl champion Eagles, who have $4.29 million of cap space, are a Fletcher Cox ($17.9 million cap number) contract restructuring away from being in a similar cap position.
On having space to acquire Bell in a trade.

with Ajayi having a fractured back, i think there has to be something to this. I mean sheesh, i can't remember a team being this injured this early in the season for some time. Will be a completely different team come December

And I think ajayi is gone after this year.  We kinda need a rb

Pederson should cut Corey Graham and make him walk his ### back to philly!

What the hell has happened to the secondary other than Jenkins? And the O-line???? What the Hell is going on here?!?!?

That 4th and 15 defense was the worst I've ever seen.  WR didn't do anything other then run 17 yards straight to the first down and turn left.  Wide open.

What the #### was Graham doing? He was just standing there with his thumb up his ###!!! I'm serious, a message should be sent. Cut his ###!

only good thing about that loss is we don't have to discuss Rico Gather and the Cowboys for the next week. Plenty to discuss this week.

i have liked Jalen Mills, but this is 3 weeks in a row he has been burned repeatedly or given bad penalties. I know it is tough for the team to demote him, but would like to see Sid Jones get a chance

I'm out for the week. Between Penn State and Eagles, I'm going on football detox for my own health. Be back next Sunday.

there are a couple of plays that really stand out to me. there was a 3rd down play, that Ertz totally short-armed. Was just about as bad as the Ricky Waters play. i don't know if he was getting tired or what but i would like to see them put Goedert in some more or something.

Good news is Eagles should be hungry for this Vikings game coming up. Viking will be hungry too, and i am not sure the Eagles defense can stop the passing game, so the Eagles offense needs to pull some magic next week. very important game too so i would expect to see them play a much better game

The Eagles D has played much better at home than on the road. I think they will win some matchups vs. the Vikes' O-Line and do enough for the team to pull the game out. But they need to sort some things out in the secondary ASAP. The loss of McLeod meant some people were out there in different roles and were often confused.

The good news is that you don't have to try to stop Cousins all game. Just stop him inside the 20 and at the end of halves. He's not a risk-taker, which means not throwing passes that will be contested inside the 20. And when he does take risks (end of halves) he turns the ball over too often.

And I'm not certain if I stopped in at the end of last season to congratulate you on the Super Bowl win. So if I failed to do so, congrats. They certainly earned it. It was well deserved.

The OL & DL can’t play like they have the past couple weeks, period. These are supposed to be one of if not best units in the league and they’ve looked like crap.

Im as optimistic as they come but we should be 1-3 right now. We better pick things up.

Wentz is lucky he hasn't been injured due to all of the hits he has taken the last 2 weeks. I think the OL has done reasonably well in run blocking but the pass blocking has been really disappointing. Also surprised they seemed to be so confused by the Titans' pass rush and not being able to account for who was rushing and from where. Don't know if that is on Kelce and the OL, or on Wentz, or a combo of both.
