OFFICIAL 2018 Training Camp & Preseason: News & Tidbits Thread (1 Viewer)

Sorry if I missed it but has any sort of formal time table been attached to Alshon Jeffrey's recovery yet?  From the sounds of that update above and the fact he's still in the stage of building strength in his shoulder it sure makes it sound like he's not going to be ready for the start of the season.

Kat Terrell (bengals beat) says Auden Tate was getting first team reps this weekend.

He doesn’t do much other stuff I.e. special teams so Tate could still get cut, but the team recently also released Brandon Lafell.

"Shelton Gibson essentially had only one direction to trend after last year’s camp. But he’s locked down the fifth receiver spot ahead of Markus Wheaton– in this reporter’s opinion – and showed playmaking ability."

"Donnel Pumphrey, Matt Jones and Wendell Smallwood. The Eagles have three running backs locked into roster spots – Jay Ajayi, Darren Sproles, and Corey Clement. They typically keep four and the job was up for grabs entering camp. Pumphrey showed improvement after a disappointing rookie campaign, but he suffered an injury and will miss at least the first two preseason games. Jones has also been banged up, but when he has played he has been underwhelming. Smallwood has been healthy – unlike in camps past – but his performance has paled in comparison to undrafted rookie Josh Adams."

Thanks for all the work, as ever, Faust.

This is one consistent drumbeat from the start of camp, and has definitely moved Goodwin up my board, even though I think Garoppolo still has a lot to prove. It looks like the 9ers running game may not be steller with McKinnon nicked and potentially struggling more than I'd like to see, so may mean more reliance on Jimmy G's arm.

Haven't watched the preseason Dallas game, where Goodwin logged a single catch, so interested in the dynamic when the 1's were on the field, how often Garoppolo was targeting him and looking his way vs Garcon or whoever was lining up in the slot on 3-wides. Would love further insight if anyone has it.

Garcon is old hasn't been a top WR in years now.Goodwin is a sleeper of sorts, he's going to continue to climb up draft boards..he can play.and the offense can't run the ball so well

Grab him late where you can or trade for him in dynasty as a throw in if you can. He's has a very good chance to end the season as a top 12 WR. He was targeted 3 out if the 6 throws Garappolo made. He's the 49er's #1 WR this year.
