***OFFICIAL 2018 YANKEE THREAD*** Gleyber Day (1 Viewer)

On to game 5! Hopefully we can hit Kluber again
That isn't going to happen. Our best chance is a lucky homerun or two and CC pitching a six inning gem, then the bullpen does its job to eek out another low scoring win.

Can't believe how bad judge has been
Really? I can. He had a brief respite in September, but this is the Judge we saw for months after the All-Star break.

The thing to keep in mind is he's just a rookie trying to adjust to the game adjusting to him. I guarantee he works hard at lowering his strikeout numbers during the offseason.

Judge will be a .300, 50HR, 120RBI hitter in 2018, bank on it.

ETA: Don't forget, if it wasn't for Judge we may not have won the ALDS. Remember the 2 run HR he robbed? Who else could make that catch? Who else is a 6.7" giant?

I'm encouraged that he does take pitches. But they've started throwing him that low / away curve on hitters counts - 2-0, 3-1, etc, and he always falls for it. He already knows how to take walks - he just needs more discipline to handle that curveball that seems to get him every time. He'll come around. It'll be like Bonds was - you either pitch to me, or I'll happily take the walk.

I expect Judge to bounce back in this series (hard to be worse statistically). I thought that even though Cleveland didn’t pitch great overall, that they pitched Judge extremely tough. I found myself thinking that he didn’t get many good pitches to hit after almost every one of his AB’s.

As far as the series itself, I am not too confident tonight. Keuchel owns us, and I don’t like Tanaka on the road. I personally would have started Gray tonight and pitched Tanaka in game 3 at home. That being said, all this team has done is fight like hell prove everyone wrong. So I’ll say we win a classic in 7. ?

Yeah I feel less confident going into this series than I did vs Cleveland. But I've said for awhile this Yankees team can beat anybody. They just have to bring their A game.

Agreed.

One nice thing: Tanaka seems to be "back." Despite those two runs, he's pitched a hell of a game through 6.

If I see one more Yankee flail like a little leaguer at the slider down and away I'm going to go insane.

TIP: this is how they're getting you all out. Breaking balls down and away. It isn't just Judge swinging at that garbage: the whole team is striking out on that pitch. And everyone knows it.

It's crazy to think that in 10 years a new generation of Yankees fans will watch FOX broadcasts and not understand why we all like Big Papi more than A-Rod. To them it'll be sacrilege.

...and I'm crying right now.

I really hope they resign both CC and the Toddfather. Give CC a respectable 1 year offer and sign Todd for three.

Yea, Frazier's average isn't great, but the power is there, the defense is there, and the spirit & leadership are near essential for a team this young. Frazier is a great crossbreed between Mariano (heart & soul) and Swisher (power plant of enthusiasm). He loves playing in the Bronx and the dugout gravitates to him. You gotta have guys like that in the clubhouse.

Where does Torres play then?

Torres will be a 2018 September call up. He wasn't ready before the injury, now he needs to work himself back.

So maybe sign Frazier for 2 years, as insurance against Torres struggling.

They also have Miguel Andujar and want to desperately get under the luxury tax threshold. I'd say CC is the priority and as good as a clubhouse guy as Frazier is at age 32 he'll almost assuredly command a multi year deal and signing just blocks too many prospects. I'd be shocked if they resign him.

Yeah, this. Frazier has been a great clubhouse guy and has done some great stuff in some key moments. Its painfully obvious how bad he wants to be here.

But he's a 32 year old who hits .215 and he's got the #1 prospect in all of baseball behind him (with Andujar's bat seemingly ready as well if Torres isn't ready to go in the Spring). Plus they're still paying Headley for another year who basically just had an awesome year outside of one awful month.

I can't imagine Frazier comes back. Just one of those things. Just happy that local guy basically got to have the best 3-4 months of his life.
