i do think you can blame that on Howie and bad planningIf a 32 yr old WR that gets hurt every season, that we just acquired getting hurt sinks us - we're a bad team. We gave Case Keenum a career passing day with Malik here.

Not a bad point, but as stated obviously a fan favorite. Not an Eagles fan but a Wentz owner for the first time. This is an unpopular inquiry. But wouldn't it make sense for the team to trade Ertz for a starting caliber WR? I get the fan base and Ertz. You might be able to trade Goedert instead of Ertz but the return will be less due to name value. Your immediate first reaction might be no. And the team needs CBs right now. But to compete in the NFC you need more than Alshon.
Howie is gonna get the axe first I think. He’s great with the cap and trades but is just flat out awful with the drafting. Maybe add another “football guy”? I don’t know man. Either way we HAVE to hit this next draft. Have to have 4 contributors who show talent and that they belong.Super Bowl gives Doug another year or two to figure this out but I have to think Lurie is moving on by 2021 if this is still happening.
Sid was a flyer when he was brought on, and Darby was one of those actives that was there in case the first CBs all lost their legsNice to see Sidney Jones and Darby both active and not play a single snap too. Damn good planning with that one.
Well supposedly Joe Douglas was helping the last 2-3 drafts right? He was our Football Guy guru. Howie ultimately is responsible but I thought Joe was supposed to be this personnel expert.Howie is gonna get the axe first I think. He’s great with the cap and trades but is just flat out awful with the drafting. Maybe add another “football guy”? I don’t know man. Either way we HAVE to hit this next draft. Also have to weed out these talkers too. Send Alshon to Cincy or Miami and see how much he talks than.
Probably why Chip exiled him so long ago..Howie is gonna get the axe first I think. He’s great with the cap and trades but is just flat out awful with the drafting. Maybe add another “football guy”? I still think Chip made the Marcus Smith call but Howie ate that bullet to show he's a team player.Probably why Chip exiled him so long ago..
This is where I'm conflicted. Yea, Howie's the GM, and the buck stops there and all. But what are the 'football guys' telling him? I'm sure he's relying on their feedback for this. Did he decide to draft a Jeffrey clone instead of a speedster? Or was the something Doug and Groh told him they wanted? Is our scouting dept bad? Or are they getting overruled? It's the age old "who made the call to draft Marcus Smith" conundrum all over again.
What's worse is Malcolm says he doesn't know what Lane is talking about.Cool, got players showing up late to practices and meetings now. Great stuff:

Agree completely on Douglas. He was praised as this football genius and now he's gone. Where are all his picks and moves?Turned it off before the 62-yard FG because I was 100% sure it was going in and that the game was over.
Probably due to "out of sight, out of mind" but I think Joe Douglas isn't getting enough heat/blame. My rankings:
1. Groh - Yes, no one can get open, but it's the OC's job to scheme ways to get them open (at least somewhat regularly) and game plan to exploit a D's weakness. He does none of that.
2. Douglas - Think about how many times we said/heard a pick or signing had "Joe Douglas' fingerprints all over it." Today, how many of those moves can we look at and say they've set us up for success, this year, or over the next couple of years? A lot less than what you would think a highly-prized GM hire would be expected to have.
3. Schwartz - Continues to try and put square pegs in round holes. Understanding the FO hasn't given him much to work with, he doesn't seem adept at adjusting to the talent/skill he has.
4. Howie - Trying to emulate the Patriots' exploitation of market inefficiencies in trades, comp picks, and mid-tier/vet FA's only works if you're a good talent evaluator. Pats do it consistently; Howie hit on it for 2017 but has had big misses since. Maybe some of it was leaning too much on Joe Douglas, but it ultimately falls back on him.
5. Pederson - Just because he's last on this list doesn't mean he's absolved. At the very least, he should be demanding more from the offensive staff if they're not bringing him decent plays to put on his sheet each week. He's approving (and maybe having a heavy hand in) these putrid game plans.
There's just so much wrong right now. Last night it felt like the line was bad and not many clean pockets. Receivers get no separation, so every throw is into a tight window, and since they aren't reliable with their hands, and tough catches, or even easy ones, have a chance of hitting the turf. I also think Wentz feels he has to do too much between the pressures of the past and Foles and the bad receivers mentioned above. Is it the Offensive Line or is it the QB?
I ask because if a QB has time to throw and make his progressions, typically they find an open receiver or complete a pass, almost universal in the NFL with some exceptions.
I am reading "Trade Ertz" and Alshon is not enough, what about the RBs? Maybe they need 1 guy to really step in and take 15-20 touches a game. Most QBs benefit from it, Philly has had a RBBC it would seem for quite a while.
Pederson beat the Patriots in the SB less than 2 years ago and now I am hearing media heads question his approach...it wasn't a problem in 2017, what's changed.
Just asking as an NFL fan, I don't think I own any piece of it FF wise so it's purely as an NFL fan.
Yeah. The D from a scheme, talent and depth standpoint is a damn disaster. It’s unbelievable how bad they are at EVERYTHINGHaven't even addressed the d-line that gets no pressure, the DBs that can't cover, and for some reason any time they blitz they run directly into lineman. So weird and frustrating.
But by doing that you're saying you give up on this season, because who you going to trot out there? Jaw and Hollins? That's all that's left.I’m still in on Doug but if guys are late and not showing up (think Bradham earlier) etc than a lamb has to go to slaughter. There’s being a players coach and than here’s being a doormat. It’s a thin line.
If you think Jefferey is the talker send him to Miami or Cincy for pennies on the dollar and just cut Aghalor period. People need to fall in line.

You have to cut the cancer out. I’m fine with seeing these young guys play in place of a WR who talks like he’s in HS and runs like a 3rd TE and one that can’t catch a cold. Start developing a chemistry with these young guys and start feeding Howard, Ertz and Goedert more. But by doing that you're saying you give up on this season, because who you going to trot out there? As crazy as it seems now, they have a ridiculously easy schedule at the end. The kind where they rattle off a bunch of wins against garbage and potentially sneak into the playoffs like last year.
He definitely played a part. Same with Defilipo. It’s not a coincidence they’re doing well with trash at QB. Damn McDaniels killed that for usFrank Reich>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Indianapolis
He got SUPER lucky to even make the super bowl in the first place?Ministry of Pain said:Is it the Offensive Line or is it the QB?

Not following this one. Beat Atlanta at home and smoked Minnesota the week after. Or do you mean lucky to overcome the loss of Wentz? Either way that’s coaching and a damn good job by him and the staff. He got SUPER lucky to even make the super bowl in the first place?
IIRC Atlanta had the ball at the end of the game with a shot to score and win.Not following this one. Beat Atlanta at home and smoked Minnesota the week after. Or do you mean lucky to overcome the loss of Wentz? Either way that’s coaching and a damn good job by him and the staff.
No one in the history of the NFL would ever fire the head coach of a Superbowl winning team and keep the offensive coordinator.Yes. Very similar... almost like they let the wrong coach go (Atlanta certainly) for their offensive personnel.
Correct. Which is why I said "like" and specified ATL's case.No one in the history of the NFL would ever fire the head coach of a Superbowl winning team and keep the offensive coordinator.
They love punishing these former division foes....after they punish us by sucking on the field.Scandrick cut... Again
Agreed, that said Groh needs to be fired yesterday. He never deserved an OC job and is proving that, give Dougie Cheesesteaks some help instead of this bum.No one in the history of the NFL would ever fire the head coach of a Superbowl winning team and keep the offensive coordinator.
He got SUPER lucky to even make the super bowl in the first place?
1 postseason is almost meaningless when you look back at bad teams winning Super Bowls. 9-7 NYG beating undefeated Patriots comes to mind.
Ya I don't get that either... Sure the stars aligned and Nick played lights out, but they weren''t a 9-7 team. Not following this one. Beat Atlanta at home and smoked Minnesota the week after.
I'm pretty confused by this sentiment. Every time they show Pederson on the sidelines he's looking at a play sheet through his reading glasses. He's calling the plays right?I agree with the masses that Groh needs to go. Just wondering who would slide into OC if we did that mid-season though? Don't think Duce would be an improvement... would Doug just slide in and do that role too? Is he even that qualified to do that?
OC Game plans, comes up with schemes, comes up with the plays that are on the sheet.I'm pretty confused by this sentiment. Every time they show Pederson on the sidelines he's looking at a play sheet through his reading glasses. He's calling the plays right?
Like Deamon said, OC makes the game plan in collaboration with Doug and the QB coach during the week but ultimately the plays on the sheet and what people practice are chosen by Groh. Doug then chooses from the sheet on game day based on their pre-planning.I'm pretty confused by this sentiment. AB84You guys need more weapons on the outside, IMO.
Why not go after AJ?
Maybe Thrash and Stinkston still have some tread on their tires, bring them in for a workout! The more I think about it the more I feel like we just don’t have the talent.
Its time to go back to the drawing board.
If we finish 8-8 that will be a blessing.
This kind of feels like the early McNabb years when he had a bunch of duds as receivers.
IMO the most obvious answer is Manny Sanders. AB84 is a locker room cancer, huge off the field risk, etc., and Green is likely gonna cost a heap in draft capital. Sanders can probably be had for a 4th.AB84
Which is damning. Doug is approving these crap game plansLike Deamon said, OC makes the game plan in collaboration with Doug and the QB coach during the week but ultimately the plays on the sheet and what people practice are chosen by Groh. Ya... which makes me think that Duce or Doug taking over as OC is not going to help at all. SO not sure what firing Groh would do mid season. I for sure want him gone after the season and bring in some hot college coach.Which is damning. Doug is approving these crap game plans
Kind of a catch 22 because what if we give up picks for this 'win now mode' and lose next week which pretty much toasts us from playoffs? I think if we beat Buffalo next week then sure let's look at bringing some people in, but if not, not sure I want to give up any picks. You guys need more weapons on the outside, IMO.
Why not go after AJ?
The difference between Reich and Groh, imo, is huge. Reich has a decade more experience , and has actually worked for good offenses. Groh working only ever as a WR coach for ####ty NFL teams and college teams.Which is damning. Doug is approving these crap game plans
Its called lay the #### out for the catch. I'd have benched him after that ####. My two guesses on the player right now are Jeffrey or AgholarBigboy10182000 said:Listen to Agholor’s response to the deep throw
Now ask yourself what a great coach like Belicheck does with him? Easy right? Yeah, not to the cool parent.
Think it says a lot about both guys futures when Mills gets Activated and plays for the first time no Preseason hardly any practices and the 2 other guys activated but they play 0 snaps?Bigboy10182000 said:Nice to see Sidney Jones and Darby both active and not play a single snap too. Damn good planning with that one.
You take flyers in the 4th round. You don't take them in the 2nd round. That was one of the biggest reasons I hated that pick. If it's a flyer you pick him in the 4th not the 2nd where the guy picked there needs to be contributing in someway by the 2nd half of his rookie season unless he's uber talented and dropped for character reasons or another red flag. We could've had JuJu right nowmodogg said:Sid was a flyer when he was brought on, and Darby was one of those actives that was there in case the first CBs all lost their legs
