*Official 2019 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* - Season's over; Go Away Now... (1 Viewer)

Get right game for Wentz: 250/3

Sanders next step forward: 120 total, 5 catches, 1 TD and a shot at a second

Eagles 35, Dolphins 13

As a Bills fan, I appreciate the title update.  Usually nobody is thankful for the Bills except for whoever we happen to be playing that week.

Some of you guys brought this up in the game thread: do you really think this team thinks they reinvented football and have gotten cocky last two years? Are they really unlikable? Soft? Uncoachabke? I have no words for this other than the usual they play down to their opposition.

Heads need to roll, although the O wasn’t at fault today I want it to be Groh. He sucks, let Doug handle it rest of the way.

The O had its moments too. Wentz again missing guys deep and Ertz with HUGE drops.

With that said 90% of today was coaching. NO REASON why Doug does not call a time out when Miami comes out in that strange formation where the kicker catches the TD. No reason for us not double teaming Parker as soon as the second quarter. No reason to stop bringing pressure.

It is what it is. We are simply an average team who will play above and below any given week

I think saying we are an average team is being generous.

Also, the way to beat quick precision timing routes where the ball gets out before pressure can get there is to jam receivers at the line to disrupt the timing. Instead we played soft coverage all day and let them get to the spaces where they needed to be.

I remember Rodgers doing this against us early in Schwartz’ time here, and he never adjusted then either.

There’s a lot of crap out there. We are in that area of peaks at 9-7 and bottoms out at 7-9 IMO

We are 15 and 15 since the Super Bowl with regressing young players and extremely inconsistent play. We need new voices.

I mean let's be real. We have 2 more wins than the dolphins. Who the #### do they think they are? They thought they could just show up and win? Overrated, undisciplined, pathetic bunch of lolly gaggers.

I didn't know Philly liked Dallas that much.  You guys will do anything to make sure the Cowboys win this sorry division.

Man, just when I thought Life sucked for my fantasy teams back in the day, I seegameslike this where real life is inexplicably even worse feeling.

I'd love to tell you it felt good today but we really wanted to try and get the No 1 pick.

It was 28-14 and then it wasn't, I was miffed watching the game because Parker is the only real Miami weapon that can do much damage and I think he made a lot of coin today ripping thru that secondary.

I thought for sure we could count on you all ending Jason Garret's job B4 the end of the season but Dallas might take it at 8-8, maybe even 7-9 will take the NFC East.

Fun game to watch in general, lot of crazy plays including the punter/kicker. Good luck moving forward, not sure the direction you all need to go but it would seem the seocndary needs to be addressed or is suffering injuries galore.

Cheers!

We need to lose out and draft a CB in the 1st and find some receiving talent somewhere.
I don’t trust the GM to pick a good one or the coaching staff to develop whoever they pick.

Im good with ANY coach being fired this off-season. Doug included. The culture on this team is #### and needs to be addressed ASAP

Abysmal.  Yea any given Sunday and all - but that was just terrible.  It's pretty clear at this point 2017 was the aberration.  This is an 8-8, give or a take a win or two, team. Period. will not be any better with the current makeup. Maybe will not be better with Wentz and Pederson. Outside of 2017 - neither has shown ANYTHING.

Sad thing is, this really didn't hurt the playoffs at all. So it'll be business as usual. A lot of platitudes and meaningless whatever's in the press conferences to say we need to do a better job. Yet they'll come back next week and put on a piss poor performance against NYG. Maybe win, maybe not but just living up to that medicore to be poor team they've played themselves out to be. Completely undisciplined. No accountability. Guys just doing whatever the #### they want.

Eagles still control their own destiny. 4-0 wins the division, so there's that. Even if they get hot and do it, I couldn't care less. The last shred of hope I had for this year's team evaporated after that sad excuse of a game.

Post game Doug says the players hold themselves and each other accountable, yet at the same time many players refused to talk to reporters. Very accountable.

I know the knee-jerk reaction is to replace everyone, but realistically what can they, or should they, do? Doug and Howie are going nowhere, IMO. They have Super Bowl long leashes. Groh and the WR coach are gone. Doubt Schwartz goes anywhere. His defenses turn in stinkers like this but overall they do well. Everyone also has the injury excuse to put some blame on. Maybe they sacrifice the DB coach again?

For players, no idea. Alshon and Desean are back unless you take huge cap hits. Nelson shouldn't be back at any price and Hollins can go suck a buffet of Ds. Need to draft at least 2 WRs next year, supposed to be very deep there. Mills and Darby are FAs. I'd keep Mills if the price is right and lose Darby, but what are you replacing him with? Do you overpay for someone in FA, is there someone worth overpaying, can they even afford it? Draft one and hope he isn't a bum? Need a young compliment at DT and hope Jackson comes back 100% and another DE who can get to the QB.  This is the bare minimum of needs, I think.

Forgot the medical staff. Can't be this bad of injury luck for 3 years in a row. Need to get some of that Wolverine healing factor going.

This team keeps tripping over their own feet. I think we all expected rustiness last season, but this season there is no excuse for the sloppiness. And if you think about it we are having the same issues as last season but on a greater level. For example, remember the TN game last season? Looked a lot like the Detroit game this season. A game we "should" have won but farted away. That's the theme for the Eagles the last two seasons "shoulda coulda woulda."

It's time to clean house. Doug needs better people around him. We need an entirely new receiving corps (minus TEs) and a new defensive backfield. I think it's time to go into rebuilding mode. If that means not making the playoffs the next 2-3 seasons so be it, but we cannot keep forcing square pegs into round holes.

I get so jealous watching high powered offenses like Baltimore and KC.

Agree 100%. This is the karma part of the laughing at NE for not having fun and winning.

Don't think that at all. I think we were incredible lucky to win the SB when we did. I remember my Co workers son saying when the coaches got there they were like WTF this is a disaster. Realistically inside the expectations was it was gonna take awhile to rebuild the team. Have 2 seasons of pretty much sucking then hope to be reasonable competing for a playoff spot outside chance by year 3. Of Corse no one saw us getting absolutely lucky with Roseman getting rid of the dead weight as fast, bringing in Carson and the Vikings stupidly given us a 1st rounder for Sam Bradford. That helped start the rebuild faster but even given winning the SB we got lucky. The guys who were hurt plus the holes we had and still have. It took Foles having the game of his life to win it.

None of this is to discredit what they did to win. This is more so to say despite them winning it all this team was still incredible flawed from a roster standpoint. I was hoping at the very least some of those flaws were fixed by now but have gotten worse over the last 2 seasons. Honestly given what I was told and heard what a mess this team was in when Chip was fired it's beyond a miracle we won it all the 2nd season.

Great post, the bolded had me  :lmao: . Thanks, I needed that after today.

And guess who on the Eagles Corners is that physical? Yep Jalen Mills. Use his best asset dammit. If I don't hear a coaches name being fired either the DC or the OC I'm gonna be livid tomorrow.

Don't worry buddy Garret will probably lose his job after the WC game anyway. No way anyone in this division winning the Div they are making it past the 1st round of the playoffs. Whoever comes out of this division will be eaten alive whoever they play

I'd take a CB early in next years draft and no drafting anyone that was a first rounder but slid because they burst their knee or Achilles during pre draft workouts with the pick either

Serious question - do you think Eagles management would have the balls to fire a coordinator mid season in the middle of a playoff race (regardless of whether they look like a playoff team, they are very much in the race)?
