***Official 2020 Election General*** (2 Viewers)

@RepAndyBiggsAZ: For 5 years, the radical left & their allies in the media have sought to delegitimize & overthrow President @realDonaldTrump from office. They have lost all credibility & moral highground to declare a new president before all legal votes are counted & all lawsuits are settled.

@RepAndyBiggsAZ: President Trump, keep fighting. The American people support you and stand with you in your endeavors to expose and eradicate the corruption of the deep state and establishment, and to ensure integrity across all of our election systems in every state and locality.

Biden's job, IMO:

1. Guide us out of COVID, scientifically and financially

2. Repair international stature

3. Get Kamala ready to make a winning case to be the next President, probably in 4 years

I'm as hopeful as they come as a Dem, but I'd have to think the chance of them winning both runoffs is incredibly small. Like 1%. Frankly I'll be surprised if they win either. There's certainly a chance I'll be way wrong on that given the (to my knowledge) unprecedented nature of what's at stake, but I'm suitably pessimistic right now.
Q-Anon Kelly Loeffler is definitely beatable. Weakest incumbent in a long time. The other seat just needs to flip 1.5%

I love the "just file lawsuits!" angle.

Trump has lost the election, his opponent got even more popular votes than Hillary did, and they're not even done counting votes. The American people stand against him, and we have made our voices heard.

Biden won't run at 82.  In fact, I think he will put some thought into stepping down 1/21/23 and give KH a better visible role and a chance to serve 10 years as POTUS.

That's what I mean. Yet Dems think it's not likely to get both seats? Seems odd.

What do you think will happen in the 2 races?
I think the Democrats will lose because of moderates and independents. There were enough of such Georgians  that preferred Biden to Trump but many won’t want the Democrats to have power in all of three of the Presidency, House and Senate.

I missed the past few pages in this thread. Have we discussed the Four Seasons (Landscaping) press conference yet. One of the funniest things I’ve seen today.

I saw Trump's tweet earlier this morning, then later saw Patton Oswalt's tweet on this (https://twitter.com/pattonoswalt/status/1325132671140327427) and honestly didn't believe it.

Here's the press conference:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqPqPjQFXeQ&feature=youtu.be

Just totally bizarre. Complete lunacy.

This is very possible. I'd like to see a woman win the election to become the first female President though.

I think this is a pretty fair post.  Conceptually, in a perfect world, there should be some give-and-take, some across-the-aisle dealings. Our government needs to work together.

My real concern personally has more to do with the fracturing of news media, and the way that truly fringe ideas - I'm talking the Q stuff, Pizzagate, all of this - have taken root in relatively mainstream media.  I've said this for a while, but we're through the looking glass in terms of misinformation and fake news.  There is no putting this genie back in the bottle, and it will only get worse.  Personally, I think the socialism fear is a little overblown and a bit of red herring, but as a libertarian-leaning independent there are definitely things I don't agree with, and I can understand the fear.

I am very interested (and kinda terrified) to see where we go from here.  Many people appear to be celebrating as if "the war" is over.  Don't get me wrong - this is a good day for America, absolutely, but this was just a battle.  The war of misinformation is far, far from over.  Do we as Americans coalesce back into some semblance of normalcy, or does the fringe continue to pull us apart?
Please tell me the Left's equivalent to FOX and QANON. This is not a "both sides" problem, yet you never attributed this fracturing predominantly to the right. The Left is not pure, but they're JV compared to the Right's Pros.

Debates don't matter.

What matters is that the people had a low opinion of Trump, almost from the jump. He wasn't a leader and when a great crisis came, he failed.

This was as close to a "no confidence" vote as we can have for a POTUS.
There was the narrative that Joe had dementia and couldn't string together coherent sentences. He dispelled that notion in the first debate. And Trump was at a historic low for debates. I think debates matter in a close election.
I think Trump and his supporters made a critical blunder with the whole "Biden has dementia" narrative. They should have set Biden up as another fast-talking coastal elitist who never had to use a teleprompter. Then, when the masses finally got to see Joe at the first debate — and it turned out that Joe was just a regular old guy — it would have deflated public expectations.

But, instead, Republicans set the expectations super, super-low.....and Biden easily exceeded them.

can he do either without the Senate?
This election surprised me with local policy in red states embracing somewhat progressive ideas.  I think there is less pushback on some of these individual ideas that gets lost in the presidential vote amongst the overall cry about socialism.

Just as an example, Florida went red but at the same time voted in favor of an amendment to increase the minimum wage to $15 with a pretty substantial 61/39 margin.

Speaking to a concern we'd discussed in this forum a bit the last few weeks, all the live footage on news networks right now is from huge cities. No representation from small towns. I'd feel left out / ignored if I was from such a place. It's a problem.
The good news is it appears large gatherings are now OK again and it was done in time for people to change their Thanksgiving plans again!

I just spent a couple hours in Prospect Park and it was like Christmas came early. Hundreds of people spontaneously cheering, dancing, playing music. I heard someone say "This isn't the first beautiful day of the year but it feels like the first one people let themselves enjoy."  Quite the moment to be alive in Brooklyn.

One of?  Can you PM the stuff that is funnier?  I mean they thought they were booking the Four Seasons hotel, but instead did this at a landscaping company next to a sex shop and across the street from a crematorium.  Veep couldn't have written it any better.

What a weird microcosm of this moment to see videos of crowds cheering as USPS trucks drive by and go about their day.

Next to focus on...

Elections to the U.S. Senate will be held on November 8, 2022, and 34 of the 100 seats are up for regular election. Special elections may be held to fill vacancies that occur in the 117th Congress.

Of the 34 regularly scheduled elections in 2022, 12 seats were held by Democrats and 22 were held by Republicans as of November 2020.

And instead of admitting their mistake they’re going forward with the press conference anyway. 🤣

This includes the Georgia SE seat that is in play right now?

I'm still trying to figure out how that press conference ended up at that particular spot -- basically a shipping entrance or a garage or something.

I think Republicans will show up in droves for these 2 races because they really don't want a Democratic presidency/house/senate.  So long as they keep the senate majority they protect themselves against all of the progressive policies that they fear Biden wants to implement.
Sure, that's what the Republicans would like. But I'd expect the Democrats to be just as motivated to have a Democratic Presidency / House / Senate.

I guess we'll see how it goes but I've been fascinated by the pessimism.

That's how I understood it too. I find it fascinating in a race that was this close this time and will surely have tons of outside money poured in that Dems are so pessimistic. Interesting.

The conservatives I talk to seem to think it's very possible both seats go Democratic.
I think it's possible too, especially if Trump goes scorched Earth the next 3 months and/or McConnell doesn't get any stimulus done.
