Hard to really judge this. That fumble-6 could/should have been down and then the spread doesn't get covered. Betting spreads is hard, a bad call or bounce can ruin it all.

That was the worst victory I can remember on recent history. Even last week's win felt like they might be building on something. This was not a victory. It was just less of a loss.
Doug needs to designate an OC during the bye. He needs to. Lurie should make him do that. His playcalling will be the end of this team.

I think the first change we might see, maybe as soon as during the bye, is letting Press Taylor go or demoting/re-assigning him. Think about all the years of bad WR play and drops, and the necessary shuffling of WR coaches, and we're pretty much seeing the same thing with Taylor. He was promoted to QB coach in 2018 and Wentz's play has gotten further and further away from his 2017 season in each season since. Not to say Taylor is the reason why Wentz is struggling and regressing, but he certainly hasn't been able to help him get out of his funk, cut down on the turnovers, improve his mechanics, etc.

God I hope so. Do that and then name Duce the OC. Let him call plays. He can't be any worse than what we've been doing. If Carson is making himself a liability then we need to RUN THE BALL!! We were gashing them for 8ypc in the first hf and then predictably, we only got a few token dives into the line in the second half. If Duce is calling plays, I guarantee Sanders and Scott wi have a combined 25 carries a game taking the load off of Carson's shoulders.
Can Doug swallow his pride and give up the playcalling. Doubtful but this team needs it.

Washington has the inside track right now. I thought maybe Eagles could take 1 or 2 games from Clev, Sea, GB, NO and Ari. Now I don't know if they win any of them. Seahawks and Steelers are the only winning teams left on their schedule.So will the Eagles be the NFC East champs with a losing record? All signs point to maybe.

I think the NFC East champ having a losing record is a given at this point.
The question is how bad. Six wins might do it.
Washington's next two games against the Giants and Lions will tell us imo. If they win both and get to 4-5, they have a good shot to get to 6-10 or 7-9. (Cincinnati and Cowboys are the next two after that).
Eagles schedule is harder... Cleveland and then all 3 NFCE teams again - 3 out of 4 of those gets us to 6-9-1

observation #1, why go deep to Hightower twice in the game in that wind? both times it looked like he couldn't even track the ball. Okay, wind, maybe not his fault, but in the interception it looked like he just watched the defender. tackle!! someone should tell him PI is better than turnover. Help your QB out.
observation #2, speaking of QB, does Wentz know that when there is a defender in his face he has less than half a second to tuck that ball and half a second is not enough to go through a swing motion of throwing the ball? i mean, this guy played college ball, right? it's like he keeps forgetting the basics.

The team lives and dies with Wentz. When he is playing well, the team does well. Sadly he is just waaay too inconsistent this year. Just too many poor decisions.

And Hightower as a #4 isn't too shabby either. I know he's had issues, but he has speed and made a few big plays so far. The big question is can this team develop the WRs. History says no.

Coaching is still bugging me here. Carson deserves a lot of blame but if you're a head coach or even a competent OC, you see your QB just giving the ball away like it's candy, don't you have to take the ball out of his hands? They should have run the ball 30+ times last night. Worst rushing defense of the last 20 years. Gashed them in the first half and yet they came out threw the ball except for a few token dives and scrambles. How can you do that?

Heard Ike Reese make a good point today. He said Carson has no fear of being benched. So he does whatever the hell he wants. As a rookie he was still very much proving himself and he wanted to listen and be the good soldier to what his coaches were telling him. Now though he has the big contract and he's the franchise QB. So Doug has no way to bench him realistically.
However, Ike made the point that Doug can still send a message. In practices this week away from the media, Doug can nonchalantly tell Hurts to take first team reps for a session and have Carson stand next to him. It may not seem like much but every player on the team would take notice. Especially Carson.

Not sure I agree with Ike here unless he has some sort of inside knowledge that we don't have or someone else in the media doesn't have either. News like that would be pretty big not to cover.

It wasn't that it was going to happen. He was saying it should happen. And it would be in the closed practice so not open to the public.
Also Ike is Carson's biggest supporter. So he's not bashing Carson here. He's just telling it like it is.

No I'm talking about Carson doing his own thing without caring. Doesn't seem like that to me at all. I think it's more he's trying to do too much and feels like he has to make a play. I don't think he's doing whatever the hell he wants just because of no pressure being benched. I think he's just pressing and his QB coach sucks so much he isn't helping keep Wentz calm and realize he doesn't have to be the team and let some of these guys make some plays. Or throw it away and live for another down.

I guarantee they are trying to tell him to throw it away. There's no way they haven't been telling them that. I think they are too weak willed for Carson to take seriously. He's not trying to do what he wants to be a bad person. He's playing hero ball because that's the way he has always played. They started to get that out of him in 16-17 but they it crept back in with weaker coaches. Now that he's locked in, he knows he doesn't really have to worry about being benched for bad play. The tram needs him to keep trying to make the big play despite Doug and the coaches telling him to protect the ball. So making him step back and watch (as Doug loves to say) would break him of that reality for a minute. Maybe then he can grow.

Like I said I think he just needs a QB coach who is gonna go after him more. I think Press coddles too much as he has never had a player to coach with this talent nor a franchise type QB. I think like it was said in here awhile back DeFlipp and Reich played bad cop good cop with him. Where DeFlipp was an ####### and Reich would then be the older dad type telling Carson why Flipp is being hard on him. You can still have the Reich in Pederson there for him but he needs someone who's gonna be tougher on him in the QB room

Is Wentz in his 5th year? By now, someone with his talent should be getting better (not regressing). I wonder if his issues (which I believe are completely mental) are even fixable at this point. Perhaps a change of scenery (or new coaching) is what would actually fix this guy.

As I am watching Daniel Jones last night, I am thinking, Jones and Wentz are the same QB. They can make great throws but make terrible decisions which lead to turnovers. I think that first fumble Wentz had on Sunday night, only 2 of 32 QB's make that turnover: Jones and Wentz. Every other QB would have either run with the ball or thrown the ball away. Jones is in his second year, so it is understandable. For Wentz, in his 5th year, it is inexcusable.

The main difference is that Wentz is better at sensing pressure than Jones. He's not incredible at it, but Jones is one of the worst I've ever seen in that regard. (Another was Rob Johnson, remember him?)

I agree with you that Wentz senses the pressure better, but unfortunately, he ignores it a lot of the time thinking he can still make the play. This is what has led to so many fumbles this year. The other unfortunate thing is Jones and Wentz are comparable not because Jones is improving to get to Wentz's level, but Wentz is regressing to get to Jone's level.Pip's Invitation said:

What I also don't get about Wentz is how can you sit there and watch the game film and come away with a conclusion of anything other than "yeah, I shouldn't do that."

I'm sure he does. And then in game, muscle memory takes over and his body says "I'm faster and stronger than anyone. I can make that throw."

This is why he needs a guy to be hard on him IMO. Doug’s loyalty and soft approach are hurting more than helping. I always thought Flip did a good job here as a QB coach but when I heard the main reason for him but being welcomed back was because he was a hard coach, that bothered me. Ironically that was Carson’s best season and he’s got worse ever since. For all things nice you see with Andy, you’ve seen him lose his #### in game so you know behind the scenes he’s laying into people when he has to. I don’t think Doug does and if so it’s artificial

reading an article in the Reagor thread that Faust posted, I totally forgot we picked up Marquis Goodwin at the start of the year. He signed for one year so I will assume that gets carried over into 2021. So put your fantasy keeper/dynasty hats on for a minute. Let's say Alshon is done, DJax "retires," and we're left with Fulgham, Reagor, Ward, Hightower, and Goedert. I'm almost positive at this point Ertz will not be an Eagle next year, so let's assume he's gone too.
Where does that put Goodwin in terms of his skillset and fantasy tiering? Fulgham looks like barring any changes rest of the season to be WR1/WR2 range for 2021 standard league fantasy drafts. Reagor will probably join him there, maybe better floor/ceiling for PPR for Reagor than Fulgham.
And assuming Goodwin would be a staple as the third WR in the spread, could that make Hightower or even Ward expendable? Or am I overvaluing him, or undervaluing Ward/Hightower, in this scenario?

If I had to lean one way or the other I'd say you're overvaluing him. He has a team friendly deal and has a very good chance of being cut. I fully expect Jeffery and Jackson to both be gone and you'll see Fulgham, Reagor, Ward, Hightower and Watkins on the team next year along with maybe another rookie draft pick.

Another difference is Wentz is far more talented and shouldn't be making these mistakes. Jones has zero pocket awareness nor do I see him or trust him to put his team on his back and win a game. Put Jones in Wentz spot last year and not only do I think we don't make the playoffs but we are probably picking top 10 with all the injuries.dhockster said:

I know everyone is harping on missing DK MetCalf but in 2014 we picked Marcus Smith and Jordan Matthews and let GB take Devante Adams. Most TD's by WR in NFL since 2016
