*Official 2020 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* Humanity will never recover from the most horrible event to happen in the last 100 years: Doug Pederson pla (7 Viewers)

Didnt McNabb have a game like that and the next week after his benching he had career highs or something?
2008 benched for Kevin Kolb in second half against the Ravens.  Next week 27 of 39, 260 yards, 4 TDS, 121.7 passer rating and 24 yards rushing.  Beat Arizona 48-20 and went on to win 6 of the next 8 games including two playoff games, eventually losing the NFC Championship to Kurt Warner and the Cardinals.
ETA the benching clearly got him right.  It could help Wentz as well.  This is not to say that there aren’t myriad other issues.

Peters and Jeffrey are playing because Howie paid them. He decides who plays and sits, not Doug. #dysfunctional
Do we know that for certain though? Seems like something a good reporter could root out if true. Doug has shown loyalty to older players pretty much every year he's been here. Plus his answer on peters and Alshon were the only ones he was definitive on.

Add to the fact he told coaches they were safe only to change his mind after meeting with upper management.

IMO it’s 100% Doug. He’s an ex-player and is being loyal to “his guys”. Never goes outside for coaches and promotes from within as well

Well I hope he enjoys losing with his guys.  Lots of that lately

Just came across this a few minutes ago:

Thoughts:
- Benching Mailata for Peters is criminal
- Maddox needs to play slot
- Mills and NRC shouldn't take snaps from Kvon, Parks, or Jacquet
- Alshon should by NOT get snaps over Hightower
- Alshon, JP, and Mills are hurting the team and have 24 mil cap hit

I still think Mills can be a serviceable DB in the right system but Schwartz has killed a ton of guys

So there's talk Ertz might be back for Monday. How sure % wise are we of this happening and do you think despite not having played well before getting hurt this helps the team more? Remember we're in Ertz Months now where he usually starts turning it on and becomes a Catch machine

Can't hurt.

Wentz has been trying to win games with an OLine that is horrible & a WR group that sucks.   IMO
That's a great line, except when he has a clean pocket, he performs worse. And come on, teams around the league get production out of receivers as equally talented.

My prediction before the last two was 5 wins.

I thought they would win one of the Giants/Browns game though.  Still not sure though. Possible they luck into one unexpected win along the way, then win one of Wash/Dal.

Six wins will win the division though. Who can get to 7?  Everyone is at 3 - are any of these teams winning 4 out of 6?

Dal/Wash - one of these will win next week and get one.

Dal will prob beat Cinci. So if they can win three out of five (Was, NYG, Phi, Bal, SF) - that might be the easiest path forward.

Philly - no chance to win 4 more. (Sea, GB, NO, Was, AZ, Dal) - yikes.  Two is a stretch. Four is an impossibility.

NYG - Can prolly beat the Burrow-less Bengals, so there's one for them too. Three more out of (Sea, AZ, Cleveland, Bal, Dal)? Maybe two of those...

Was - Beat the Cowboys last time, so maybe one there. Then (Pit, SF, Sea, Car, Phi) - So, maybe if they beat Dal, they can beat SF, Car, Phi. Tough to see them pulling that out though.

Next weeks Dal-Was is actually going to be pretty interesting, as I think those two have the best chance here. Winner of that game will be the division lead, and prob will have the best odds to win the division.
So, with WAS winning....  4-7, 5 to go...  (Pit, SF, Sea, Car, Phi)

I think they'll win two of those to get to six.  Three? Still tough.

That said I have a hard time seeing Philly getting to six as well.

“Sources tell me Jason Peters is moving to right guard and Jordan Mailata is heading back to left tackle”

3 days ago Doug says “Jason Peters is the Eagles’ left tackle moving forward.”

Pretty clear now, right?

Then to me it sounds like Howie is overriding Doug to save him from himself and his insane loyalty. Although if Lane is done, it's a moot point.
That’s what I was pointing to. Can’t have a HC that can’t separate himself from his loyalty for the betterment of the team.

Nah it will probably be like the playoff game last year where on the surface it kind of seems like they have a chance the whole time but really Seattle has them at arms length with their palm on the forehead the entire game
I can see that but with a much higher score. I'm thinking 38-27 seahawks with eagles scoring 14 in the last 6 mins.

I know it for a certain 😉

In that window of time he sent gifts to his assistant coaches after the season ended last year. The DL coach who was fired called him and asked if it was some kind of joke. Doug was not aware he had been fired.

Coaches definitely. He's been overruled. Because of his blind loyalty. Players though. Why would Howie be telling Doug to play Alshon and JP who have no future with this team?

Eagles News: Some are saying that Doug Pederson “wouldn’t be totally unhappy if he ends up getting fired

Heck of a last 24 hours: this, Ertz not back this week, Lane out for the year, Peters is moving to RG. And last time we played Seattle on MNF we lost 42-0. Is 2020 over yet??
Well, life happens fast: since this post it's been reported Lurie skipped the Browns game last week because he was so frustrated with the team and 2 of the 5 OL starters 8 hours ago both got injured in practice today. Opeta is out with a back injury (and going on IR) and Peters is questionable with turf toe.

Honestly, at this point I just want to see SOMETHING from Reagor to make me feel ok that we drafted him, considering how all these other WR's we passed on are doing. I don't care if we win another game, just at least give me hope that we didnt blow yet another 1st round draft pick.

Hard to evaluate WR when OL and QB are so bad.

He appears to have more of a clue than JJAW, so there’s that.

Jalen Hurts has been getting first team reps at quarterback in front of Monday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. They plan on giving Hurts his most snaps of the season thus far.

Hopefully he’ll do something more with them than what we’ve gotten so far.

And LOL at the thread title getting longer with each passing day.

Because Howie foolishly paid them
That makes no sense. Howie paid Alshon but he also drafted Reagor and found Fulgham. He'd have just as much interest in promoting the good players to show he does have hits as well. As for JP, that felt like more the owner being buddies with the player and the coach saying "come on I need him" than Howie paying him.

My prediction: he gets 6 snaps (which would be his most this season) and 3 of them will come in a row with at least 1 pass attempt. That's assuming we aren't behind 35-0 in the 4th and he's in with the other back-ups to close out the game.

Plenty of time to confirm a good decision on Reagor and Fulgham. Just passing along what I heard. There’s a level of dysfunction in the front office that is disturbing in the least, flat out destructive in the worst.

Yeah I’m not really following either. In essence, Howie built the entire team so all of these guys are “his guys”. With that said why would he push to play a guy the world knows is done?

Idk. Doug comes right out and says Peters is the LT going forward. That’s been him since he’s been here when it comes to veteran players.

I don’t doubt there’s dysfunction in the front office. When things go bad you can expect it on any team IMO.

Also when Doug was asked why Alshon is even playing, he either misunderstood the question or purposely ignored it to say "Yea I've been meaning to get Alshon more involved, that's on me. We'll get him more involved." That doesn't sound like I'm forced to play him.

I think Doug is an idiot and am looking forward to moving on from him.   Could be wrong but I don't think people will be lining up for his services

Not sure why they fired Wilson he seemed to be one of their better Assistants. Only thing I can think of is he butted heads with Schwartz. I know Udlin did and gave the team an ultimatum either Schwartz was gone or he'd leave. I think if Schwartz had been hired by Clev Udlin would still be here. It was just very weird how they fired one of their best assistants in Wilson though with not much explanation

I mean, yea, if the owner is so disgusted with the product he isn't going - no one on the team should feel safe.
Yeah 100%. If that’s true they’re both gone. We are about to hit a string of losses. You’ll see bad coaching, a self inflicting QB controversy and the players will quit along the way. This isn’t rock-bottom yet.

This is a tough sell. Admittedly I don’t know a ton about Wilson but ironically his longest stint in the NFL was here (loyalty?), he was fired from Arizona after one year as a defensive assistant and is now back in college as a DL coach at Colorado. If he were good he’d be in a better spot IMO.

Tim McManus reported that yes it was true he didn't go but theres more to it. Lurie with Covid cases going up was going to visit his mother for Thanksgiving and at his age he was also told he needed to be more cautious. Lurie as we know from history is a pretty left leaning owner (might be the most out of any owners) so he is taking this more seriously then say Jerry Jones or some other Owners on the other side. I don't doubt he's been disgusted at practice but the him not going to the game was blown out of proportions by McLane who's not popular amongst many of the Eagles beat writers.
