*Official 2020 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* Humanity will never recover from the most horrible event to happen in the last 100 years: Doug Pederson pla (1 Viewer)

Schwartz said as much, for whatever that’s worth.

Yeah, that is exactly what Schwartz said about him-that he opens up other options for the rest of the defense.

ETA: oops I see Pip already cleared that up
Now we just need to draft a top tier CB and that would really be nice!

I don't think the players on defense are bad. I think this scheme just puts them in the worst spots. Schwartz has run his course.  I don't like a scheme that says LB are a nothing position that can be filled by waiver pickups. We need a new philosophy.
Agreed.  And when you're around as long as he is and refuse to do new things there is a TON of tape on you.

I've always been an offensive guy but really hoping we get a guy like Robert Saleh as the next HC.  I like the defense he runs and based off of some of his interviews Ive seen he really can get a message across. If this is going to be a rebuild we need a leader and a good teacher.

Yeah, I don’t think he does enough with coverages to slow the release down to help his rush get home.  I would really love one day to find out how much influence Schwartz has on defensive personnel for real.  Was it Schwartz that said Maddox is fine as CB2? Did he push for Malik Jackson and Hargreave?

I’ve had a crush on Buffalo’s D for a couple of years.  It’s built around coverage not rush and I love what they do with disguise and switching and they’re always perfectly sound and disciplined.

Would love to see that kind of D on this team.

It was like that under Andy/Jim Johnson too, Trotter notwithstanding. I have no idea if it was like that under Chip/Billy Davis because that defense made everyone worthless.

It's hard playing CB.  I thought he was in good position most of the time against Metcalf but Adams crushed him.  He's also been missing practices with a leg injury so that could be an issue as well.  The slate doesn't get any easier though if theyre going to keep matching him up with #1's.  Thomas, Hopkins, Cooper and McLaurin
this week might not be as bad considering Hill is still playing and not Brees

Well, Jenkins has had a lot to say this week, huh?

Might be a unpopular opinion but I was OK with the move to let him go.  I don’t mind keeping older players, but the contracts have to be such that you can treat them as a year to year deal, and get out when they decline.  Jenkins wanted 2021 salary guaranteed or he said he wasn’t coming back, if I remember right, and I think it was correct not to give that.

His mobility had declined a lot.  When he first got here he was used in plenty of different ways, but by the end, he could only blitz, play the run and cover short routes and make the tackle.  He had stopped getting his hands on the ball, no INTs or PBUs, he could no longer play high safety and couldn’t stick with RBs and TEs on downfield routes.

All the intangibles stuff is completely valid but he stopped being a versatile player and became a box safety.
Yep I was perfectly fine letting him go. I think the The Amazon Series with the team last year opened my eyes more on just how bad he had gotten too play wise. Great locker room guy and better off the field guy but it was time to move on

We could use some good thoughts and memories from this team: today is the 25th anniversary of "THEY STOPPED HIM AGAIN!!"
Will never forget it. Today is my Oldest Cousin's birthday and I always lost out on going to the Dal games (My Cousin and I alternated games we went too unless other family or business co workers couldn't go) so my cousin went to the game. I remember watching it and being on the floor in my living room at my old house watching this game. Extra special given it was Dal and my cousin's Birthday

Ok So I was thinking possible coaches from Assistants and HC and got a crazy out of the box idea on QB coach that might be worth it. Say we let go of Press Taylor there are two guys I thought would be great for Carson:

Josh McCown: Every offseason teams around the league have been interested in this guy as an assistant coach. He's incredible smart and despite the lack of talent compared to other QBs really knows the game. If we are keeping at least Doug and get rid of Press as well as bringing in a NEW QB Coach I think McCown given his prior relationship with Wentz and knowing the offense is a good thing.

Dan Orvlosky: Don't laugh because I first thought Tony Romo and theres no way he's leaving his gig. Dan is a huge Wentz supporter and I've listened to this guy on ESPN as well as doing SEC games the last two yrs. This guy gets it and he did some really cool stuff about how teams don't evaluate College QBs for the NFL correctly (missing things like whats between their head and other intangibles like that) and just gets it. Not a successful NFL career but given he already has his own faith in Wentz as well I think it'd be a great partnership.

Like I said it's out of the box but I think in the right circumstances it could be crazy enough to work. McCown wasn't in the org long enough so he still has an outsider perspective and Dan has an outsider perspective already on this which I think helps. Sometimes bringing people from the outside in helps a lot.

On a positive note got my kids a Wentz shirt for $2.99 regular price $25 and myself a Wentz jersey for $39.99 regular price $150. My local sporting good store has given up on Wentz I guess.

Ash, can you just coach the Eagles already?  Like actually.

Jason Peters’ season is over after electing to have toe surgery. And with that said, it’s officially 12 different OL’s in 13 games this week:

Eagles Week 14 starting offensive line

Left tackle — Jordan Mailata
Left guard — Isaac Seumalo
Center — Jason Kelce
Right guard — Nate Herbig
Right tackle — Jack Driscoll

That solves that issue gracefully I suppose. He needs to just retire to stop the Eagles from resigning him again.

Didn't know that. Have never heard anyone from ESPN on, but don't listen to it much.
They may not be anymore but they used to play the national ESPN overnight programming and used to have Mike and Mike when they were still a show.

As long as I get to be GM I'm cool with it. Ash just has to tell me what kind of players he wants, the system he wants to run and I'll do my best to give him what he wants as well as make suggestions. Nothing would be done without a final group decision

What a year fellas, ugh. I’m thinking this is Doug’s last year, since Reich left this offense has gone to crap and can’t afford to move on from Wentz. Give him a shot with another coach, maybe Daboll from Buffalo that has made Allen look good.

So who looks good in the draft?😂

Give me Patrick Surtain II.

Give me a pick with a QB still on the board, a couple 1’s and a 2 and 3 from some QB needy team and a GM who can draft lol

If I can’t have that I’ll take Surtain, Smith, Chase, Waddle or even Parsons

Devonta smith!

Yeah he will prob draft some player from the west coast no one has heard of.  He will hardly play and get hurt early.  And we will end up releasing him.
He took JJAW when Metcalf was on the board, none of us would be dumb enough to make that call....yet someone he still has a job.

This draft, half of us wanted to trade up for CeeDee Lamb, the other half wanted to stay for Jefferson.  I'm rooting for Reagor - but man, literally everyone would do a better job.

It’s so frustrating, they try so hard to prove they are smarter than everyone else in the room with these random picks....the problem is they aren’t. You and I could have a better draft printing rankings off the net and comparing numbers.

I give them a pass on metcalf.   He honestly wasn't that impressive at ole miss and had injury concerns.  But why take JJAW idk

They definitely at least were at some point, but I believe they have the most independence of any of the espn affiliates in terms of using local programming.

The worst part was that we didn’t get Lamb because they wanted a 2 and we refused....so we could draft Hurts 🤦‍♂️

I have to say I can’t recall being this conflicted before as a fan. I want Hurts to play well and not at the same time because of all the complications this will cause next season.
I'm excited to see something different than carson.   Hes been really hard to watch this year

I haven't been this apathetic towards a game since 2012. Most people are expecting Hurts to come in and do well enough but that's just not facing reality.

Take the eagles out of it. How would we analyze a game where a rookie QB is making his first start behind a make shift Offensive line, mediocre wide receivers and a coach that hasn't utilized his running game all year. Oh on top of that they're facing the #1 defense in the league responsible for the most hits on the QB this season. What would we be saying? That it's going to be a massacre.

I changed my mind on the Eagles Covering.

Saints 27

Eagles 9

My score prediction lines up with yours pretty much exactly.  Hurts 150 yds passing 70 yds rushing with 2 turnovers.

Gameplan needs to be all about space.  Saints mostly play 2 high over man against spread looks, which means a light box.  Also makes it tough to keep a spy on Hurts with that look.

So, spread to run with Miles, designed runs for Hurts and zone read.  It’s tough to go deep against this coverage, but take the underneath matchups.  Need to see some slants, crossers to beat man underneath.  how about we bring back Chip’s mesh / wheel play for the day?  The ran it with Foles so it’s been in Doug’s playbook at some point.

They're going to win this thing and give everyone hope again just to have it dashed in week 17 in a loss to Washington.
