Official Brandon LaFell - I just... LaFell in love. (1 Viewer)

Probably gonna start him over Watkins, Moncrief, and Adams (did) this week.
I like him over those choices. Brady has to throw to somebod . I'm debating between him and Diggs
I like Diggs this week; see my post in Stefon's thread for the list of QBs/WRs Atlanta has faced this year. The Falcons are reeling and won't have Freeman. Vikings with a chance to seize the NFC North lead again.

I don't know what to do with LaFell. This week will be the 7th week on my redraft roster, have never started him & likely never will. I've contemplated dropping him but really don't want to risk one of my playoff opponents picking him up.

This might be a gross oversimplification, but the Patriots offense is predicated on ball control through short routes & timing patterns. With Amendola Q and Edelman/Lewis lost, you would think James White would benefit. Six touches in two games tells a lot about how they feel about him.

In the Bills game, Gronk stayed in to block A Lot. LaFell wasn't even on the field until two receivers got hurt. He's admitted he isn't all the way back physically, but even if he was, doesn't really seem like his route tree fits what the Patriots want to do.

Yeah, it's a tough call with LaFell. Common sense would tell you that he is Brady's most reliable available target besides Gronk. But the New England line hasn't been giving Brady the time to allow the intermediate routes to develop. And that's Lafell's game. He's not small and quick like Edelman or Amendola. Bottom line is, until he has a monster target game or finds the end zone at least once, I don't have the confidence to start him.

They've lost 4 out of 5 with him. They need to try something else.

Yep that about sums it up. Played him during a bye week or two but will be watching now to see what transpires with their offense. I don't think Denver is a good one to take a shot and see if his production increases.

Might try to drop him for David Johnson this week. I no longer LaFell him. Or the WR104 that we all overlooked, Marcus Wheaton (didn't see that one coming.)

Pretty sure even if Gronk were out and they lost another half dozen offensive weapons, he'd still be the 8 targets, 3 catch guy he has been since he came back.

Expecting him to go off for 6-119-1 as soon as I cut him, so you might want to Flex him this week.

Might want to hold one more week. He faces Philly next week. That gave up 5 TDs two weeks ago and 5 again this week. And made Calvin Johnson look like 2011 Calvin again. Brady could throw 6 or 7, especially after returning home after a loss.

He probably will. To Martin, Harper, Chandler, Bolden - hell I bet Matt Slater gets one if he's active. #### LaFell, he's never been more than a WR6 for me and he's a waste of space this year.

Got shut out on waivers last night so I guess I'll start LaFell this week for the first time. Might be his best chance to put up another good game ROS.

I've clinched, up a full game + 68.5 points for the #1 seed, playing the 8th place team. On the season I'm averaging 143, my opponent 123. About as low risk of a what the heck Flex as I'll ever see.

Should have went with my first instinct

I'll end up with about 190ish this week had I cut LaFell like I intended I would have had a shot at high score of the season

Cutting him for a backup kicker

This guy was seriously flying under the radar, so I thought Id start a thread.Ive watched the highlights of game 1, and the entire game 2nd game... and he looked pretty damn good in both. I see his numbers staying fairly stable, if not trending upwards once Smith starts getting doubled again

I've watched both games start to finish and my concern is that he can't get any separation. It's great that he's making the tough catches. I just don't see his targets increasing when most of the time Cam looks for him their is an opponent blocking his view while Olsen/Shockey are running clear.

The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner expects Brandon LaFell to start over rookie Tyler Boyd this season.
This could change if Boyd has a big training camp, but for now LaFell is running with the ones and in the driver's seat to replace Marvin Jones opposite A.J. Green. A second-round pick out of Pitt, Boyd is a finesse receiver with limited run-after-catch skills whose fit in the slot is questionable. The Bengals have a boatload of unaccounted-for targets after losing Jones and Mohamed Sanu in free agency, and Tyler Eifert to offseason ankle surgery.

Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson reports Brandon LaFell has dealt with some drops at OTAs.
LaFell has never had good hands, but his 2015 was ruined by several drops in key situations. It is concerning those issues have popped up again so early in his Bengals career, but the team thinks more time in the system will help with his consistency. Even if the drop remain a concern, LaFell is a sneaky bet for 100 targets as the starter opposite A.J. Green.

Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson reports Brandon LaFell has "been flashing more and more" as of late.
LaFell struggled with drops early in camp -- he reportedly dropped another two balls on Monday -- but he has now started to make plays around those drops. If he can provide a reasonable threat opposite A.J. Green, the Bengals will be happy to live with his balky hands. LaFell has some big-time target upside in an offense desperate for pass catchers.

Seems like a deep sleeper that is in nobody's radar, but is quietly moving into the #2 recieving option on a pretty good passing team.   Guy could put up close to 1,000 yards and is going  undrafted.

Not sure why nobody wants this guy.  Currently the #2 target in a very good offense.  Who is going to pick up the slack for Jones/Eifert/Sanu?

Because Tyler Boyd is a MUCH better player.

LaFell may "start" in week 1, but Boyd will be the #2 by week 10(after the bye), at the latest.

Frankly, the Bengals would be making a mistake if LaFell plays more snaps than Boyd in week 1.

Week 10 is most of the season.  Right now Boyd is the slot receiver and backup to AJ Green should he miss time.  If the Bengals are winning, I doubt if anything changes.  LaFell will keep the #2 spot and Boyd will man the slot.  LaFell had a bad year last year mostly due to injury, but is just a year removed from putting up 75-953-7.  Being in the better role is often times better than being more talented.

At.  The.  Latest.

If the Bengals are smart, the better player(Boyd) will be in the better role early in the season.

Brandon LaFell played 55-of-57 snaps Week 1 against the Jets.
LaFell played 11 more snaps than rookie Tyler Boyd and, surprisingly, one more than A.J. Green. LaFell is clearly the No. 2 option in the passing game with Tyler Eifert (ankle) sidelined, and he will have WR3 appeal this week against the Steelers.

Faust I know you didn't write this.  I find it funny that whoever did  would make a claim like this after one week.  Especially when Lafell had 4 targets, C.J. Uzomah had 5 targets and Tyler Boyd had 3 targets.  I don't see how he has WR3 appeal from that.

4-91 and still not on people's radar.  I'll take his 1000 yards while everyone sleeps and waits for a rookie.

Anyone think he's a good play this week against his old team? He's getting lots of snaps. Maybe Patriots scheme to focus on Green, making it easier for Lafell?

Not only are LaFell's stats good (best FA WR in my 12-team league by a mile) but apparently the coaches, etc really like him. Any Cincy fans in here who can comment further on this?

Choo choo! Who's riding him to a championship?

Flexing him this week at the Browns. Starting him over Devontae (about to lose my job to a street free agent) Booker.

Bengals released Brandon LaFell.

This move comes a day after ESPN's Katherine Terrell placed LaFell on the roster bubble. LaFell's agent told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo they "have been lobbying for his release for some time now." It is an interesting decision considering how veteran receivers have been treated so far this offseason -- Dez Bryant, Eric Decker, and Jeremy Maclin are still free agents -- but LaFell apparently saw the writing on the wall. Cutting LaFell suggests the Bengals are confident John Ross is ready to contribute. 2017 fourth-rounder Josh Malone is also a name to watch.

Bengals finally Lafell out of love
Hmmm... I wonder if there might not have been some back door tampering going on.  If we hear that LaFell is in NE in the next couple of days, my suspicion grows stronger.

That said, it also could be that LaFell saw the writing on the wall.  Outside of bengaldom it is still largely unknown that the bengals have some serious talent at the WR position in camp this year.  LaFell was not in the top 6 at his position behind Green, Boyd, Ross, Malone, Tate, and even Erickson.  In fact, he might even have moved behind Cody Core this week.

In my opinion LaFell is still a league average WR3/4 and will rapidly be employed.  If NE did not like Dez's tryout, I see them adding LaFell.

I think it shows their confidence in Boyd tbh.  He'll hook on somewhere for sure but they young guys just couldn't be denied in Cincy.

After releasing Martavis Bryant, the @Raiders have signed Brandon LaFell!

32 years old in November, so seems like a perfect fit...

LaFell is decent, but you can't tell me the Raiders wouldn't give a pinky finger to have Bryant running all over the field vs. LaFell.

I don't think Dez is a Gruden kind of guy, and besides, Dez, IMO, is clearly a shell of his former self.   Heck, our punter was a bit of a diva....
